  • Patent number: 8964895
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) transmitter includes a baseband processing module and a plurality of radio frequency (RF) transmitters. The processing module selects one of a plurality of modes of operation based on a mode selection signal. The processing module determines a number of transmit streams based on the mode selection signal. The processing of the data further continues by converting encoded data into streams of symbols in accordance with the number of transmit streams and the mode selection signal. A number of the plurality of RF transmitters are enabled based on the mode selection signal to convert a corresponding one of the streams of symbols into a corresponding RF signal such that a corresponding number of RF signals is produced.

  • Patent number: 8964858
Abstract: Systems and methods for analyzing the performance of a digital network include capturing a stream of digital data, e.g., interne protocol (IP) packets, that represent streaming video, identifying which of the IP packets include bit errors, determining to which of a plurality of pixels the IP packets including bit errors belong and identifying such pixels as corrupted pixels, and illuminating only the corrupted pixels on a display of a tool. Corrupted pixels in different time blocks can be displayed with different colors to gain a better appreciation of the bit error rate over time.

  • Patent number: 8958458
Abstract: A method for estimating a scrambling code used on the uplink of a CDMA 2000 system. The received signal is firstly sampled at twice the chip frequency of the spreading code, and then filtered with a filter adapted to the spreading code and to pulse shaping. Differential processing of the successive samples is applied on the signal thus filtered and the differential values thus obtained are decoded using iterative belief propagation decoding. The decoded values are then used to determine the content of the shift register of the scrambling code generator at a given instant.

  • Patent number: 8958517
Abstract: In a clock-adjustment circuit, a phase-detection circuit receives a first clock associated with a first clock domain and a second clock associated with a second clock domain, and determines a phase relationship between the first clock and the second clock. Then, the phase-adjustment circuit in the clock-adjustment circuit adjusts a phase of the first clock relative to the second clock if the determined phase relationship is associated with a metastable range of a first-in first-out (FIFO) buffer that transfers data from the first clock domain to the second clock domain, thereby reducing latency associated with the FIFO buffer.

  • Patent number: 8897341
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an apparatus and method of testing timing associated with the transmission and reception of a pulse signal. With regard to testing the transmission of the signal, a transmitter transmits a pulse within a selected hop offset subinterval of a hop interval. The receiver takes samples of the received signal for the entire duration of the hop interval. Successful timing operation is indicated when samples indicate a pulse received within the selected subinterval, and no pulses received within other subintervals of the hop interval. With regard to testing the reception of the signal, a transmitter transmits pulses within respective hop offset subintervals of a hop interval. The receiver is enabled only for the duration of a selected subinterval, but samples are taken for the entire duration of the hop interval. Successful timing operation is indicated when the samples indicate a pulse received within the selected subinterval, and no pulses received within other subintervals.

  • Patent number: 8848811
Abstract: The present invention relates to a precoder for a communication system arranged to provide transmission blocks for transmission over a transmission channel based on inputted symbol blocks. The precoder is arranged to pre-distort each symbol block based on an estimate of the characteristics of the transmission channel so that the corresponding transmission block appears to be undistorted after transmission over the transmission channel. In accordance therewith, the precoder is arranged to apply Tomlinson-Harashima precoding on a sum of a first measure corresponding to predistortion so as to remove intrasymbol interference and a second measure corresponding to predistortion so as to remove intersymbol interference. The present invention further relates to a method for providing transmission blocks for transmission over a transmission channel in a communication system.

  • Patent number: 8804890
Abstract: Phase locked loop circuitry operates digitally, to at least a large extent, to select from a plurality of phase-distributed candidate clock signals the signal that is closest in phase to transitions in another signal such as a clock data recovery (“CDR”) signal. The circuitry is constructed and operated to avoid glitches in the output clock signal that might otherwise result from changes in selection of the candidate clock signal. Frequency division of the candidate clock signals may be used to help the circuitry support serial communication at bit rates below frequencies that an analog portion of the phase locked loop circuitry can economically provide. Over-transmission or over-sampling may be used on the transmit side for similar reasons.
