  • Patent number: 5450731
Abstract: A sensible cooled air conditioning system comprised of a primary wet-dry side sensible heat exchanger using water refrigerant that changes to its vapor phase at the wet side by adsorption of sensible heat from the useful conditioned air passing therethrough and into a supply air duct, a blower for moving conditioned air through and from said duct, and the wet side air being exhausted as vapor laden humidified air, and a secondary refrigeration air conditioner for cooling and/or heating and removed from the supply air duct to eliminate pressure drop in said duct by an inlet opening from the supply air duct to receive a portion of said conditioned air and by an outlet opening into the supply air duct to return said conditioned air with additional sensible cooling and latent heat cooling for dehumidification, and a blower for moving conditioned air independently through the secondary refrigeration air conditioner.

  • Patent number: 5450801
Abstract: An incineration process which can utilize any type of incineration means for disposing of hazardous, as well as non-hazardous, burnable waste. Such wastes include toxic combustible liquids, oil slurries, soils contaminated with dioxin, PCBs, creosote, or any other potentially toxic combustible material. In particular, the present invention relates to an incineration process which has no continuous stack discharge or pollution. This process provides an improved incineration means which conserves energy by reacting hazardous and non-hazardous waste with steam and oxygen to convert it into gaseous and/or solid fuel; cooling, compressing and recycling a portion of the fuel gas to the incinerator system to provide fuel for the incineration process, and to recover gases that can be used for production of chemicals or sold as fuel gas.

  • Patent number: 5448897
Abstract: An air conditioning system uses heat-pipes in combination with a cooling coil to increase either the dehumidification capacity or the efficiency and capacity of an air-conditioning system. In the dehumidification mode, the secondary cooling coil is inactive, and the heat pipes operate as a heat-exchanger between the warm return air and the cold supply air of the air conditioning system to precool the return air and reheat the supply air, increasing the latent capacity of the main cooling coil. In the efficiency and capacity boosting mode, the secondary cooling coil is activated by introducing a portion of the cooling fluid from the air-conditioning system. This results in a neutralization of the effect of the heat pipes as well as an increase in effective heat-exchange area between the cooling fluid and the air, therefore produces an increase in the capacity of the system.

  • Patent number: 5447042
Abstract: The capacity control range of an interior unit of a multiple type absorption air conditioning system is enlarged, and turning on and off of cooling/heating and switch over between the cooling and heating can be readily and safely performed. The capacity control range is increased by reserving a liquid refrigerant in an absorption cool/warm water unit. An interior unit is connected to the absorption cool/warm water unit by a communication device. The operation of the cool/warm water unit caused by turning on and off the system and switch over between cooling and heating are automatically controlled by an operation control device. Consequently, the operation is simplified, and safety is improved.

  • Patent number: 5440825
Abstract: A horizontal dryer for solid material is the subject of the present invention. The dryer consists of a horizontal drum rotated about its horizontal axis, containing flighting around its periphery, and coupled with a heat source, all of which is well known in the prior art. The dryer of the present invention, however, both receives and discharges material at only one end and provides an inner tubular member, centrally mounted coaxially in the drum which member presents a preheating chamber. Material to be dried is first fed into the inner tubular member at one end of the drum and is moved through the tubular member by a plurality of curved flights thus preheating the material in preparation for drying. The material is moved through the preheating chamber to the opposite closed end of the drum where it is deposited into the primary drying chamber of the drum. Flighting in the drum moves the material back toward the inlet end of the drum as it continues to be heated and dried.

  • Patent number: 5438764
Abstract: A foot dryer for drying toes on a foot of an individual has a blower which directs air through apertures in a top panel of a housing. A switch is positioned on the top panel adjacent to the apertures such that when the switch is activated by the individual using the ball of their foot, the toes of the individual are located directly above the apertures. Both a heating device and/or a powder dispenser may be incorporated between the blower and the apertures to either warm the air and/or dispense powder to the toes respectively. An optional timing mechanism may be incorporated to allow the powder to be dispensed automatically after the toes of the foot have had a sufficient time to dry. The air time for drying and/or powder could be set by the user or it could be set to a normal setting.
