Abstract: A one-piece tray cover is provided with corner ledges that maintain the cover in an elevated position with respect to the top edges of a bottom tray on which the cover is positioned. The tray cover can also function as a supporting base for the tray bottom. When so used, the cover is inverted with its opening facing upward. The bottom tray is then placed inside the upward facing opening of the inverted tray cover. When used as a support base, the corner ledges serve to support the tray bottom in an elevated manner. The height of the corner ledges is less than the overall height of the tray cover. The corner ledges may be provided with a tapered edge resulting from a back-to-back fold along two non-parallel crease lines.

Abstract: In a foodstuff container of the type comprising a cylindrical body of a laminated sheet and lids closing the opposite ends of the cylindrical body, the laminated sheet is made up of two outer layers made of a thermoplastic resin consisting essentially of a synthetic resin having a melting point higher than 115.degree. C., a paper layer and an aluminum foil. The opposite side edges of the laminated sheet are covered by tape shaped aluminum foils with both surfaces coated with a thermoplastic resin similar to that of the laminated sheet, and one ends of both of the tape shaped aluminum foils are bent back to face the inner surface of the container. The tape shaped aluminum foils and the opposite side edges of the laminated sheet are welded together to form the cylindrical body.

Abstract: A carton, and a blank for forming the same, is disclosed which is adapted for storing and heating a food product such as a pizza. The carton includes a bottom wall defined by a bottom panel and closure panel, disposed in abutting and coplanar relationship. The bottom panel is provided with a plurality of venting apertures. In use, the closure panel is rotated away from the bottom panel such that a pair of elevator panels extend therebetween. The closure panel thereby defines a base for supporting the bottom panel in spaced relationship to the bottom of the oven. Further, the venting apertures are uncovered allowing moisture to escape from the carton while the pizza is being heated.

Abstract: A paperboard windowed carton to display the front area of its contents is formed from a one-piece carton blank. The carton comprises a front panel, a back panel, and two opposite side panels, with the front panel having a window preferably covered with a transparent film such as cellophane. Top panels form a hanging panel and the top enclosure for the carton and bottom panels form its bottom closure. The top panels include a rectangular top flap, a rectangular hanging panel having an orifice and three free sides, and four triangular panels which, in the erected carton, form sides for the hanging panel.

Abstract: A carton for packing and shipping asparagus is constructed from a single sheet of carton stock and includes a bottom, four side walls and a top in a substantially rectangular configuration. Inside the carton and adjacent one of the sidewalls is a partition reaching substantially from the bottom corner to the top of the carton. The partition slopes inwardly to provide an enlarged bottom area designed to accommodate the base portion of the asparagus stalks, and a restricted top area designed to support and protect the fragile top portion thereof.

Abstract: A package comprised of a first wall member adhered to a second wall member to form a storage zone with the first wall member having a window surrounded by border portions. The window and border portions are covered with a peelable flap member which protects the border portion after sterilization of the package so that an article placed within the package can be removed in a sterile condition.

Abstract: A cell for a two cell construction in which four slots are provided on the upper and lower edges to align the side walls of the cell in cell construction and to align the cells in container construction. The cells are joined along a first side wall. There are a pair of slots in the first side wall. One of the slots is spaced from the side edge of the first wall a first distance. The slots are spaced from each other a second distance. The third slot is spaced from the first wall side edge the first distance and the fourth slot is spaced from the third slot the second distance. In the lay flat cell the second and third slots are aligned and the first and fourth slots are aligned. A second series of slots are on the bottom edge of the cell. The slots in each cell will be aligned in a container construction.

Abstract: A packing comprising an outer cover constituted by a relatively rigid material and an inner container of relatively flexible material placed within the outer cover. A perimetral rim portion is formed on the outer cover at one end with a central opening within the rim. A plate is disposed within the rim to define a narrow gap therewith extending around the periphery of the plate. The plate is constituted of the same material as the outer cover and is affixed at its inner surface to the outer surface of the inner container by glue or other suitable expedient. The cover can be removed by cutting the inner container at the gap to expose the contents in the inner container.

Abstract: A tray formed of a unitary blank of foldable paperboard for storing food articles such as mushrooms and the like includes a locking tab formed in the side flaps for interengaging a related gate flap disposed in the side walls of the tray. A stacking tab is also formed in the side flaps joined integrally to a partial top cover panel.

Abstract: A carton has a plurality of side panels each connected by a fold line to one of a series of end closure flaps, there being a major flap having two oppositely located and oppositely angularly related slots canted with respect to the fold line of that flap with none of the slot edges are parallel to the fold line, and two minor flaps each having a correspondingly canted tab are adapted when the minor flaps are folded inwardly to slidably enter the slots in the major flap folded thereover and smoothly overlie the upper surface of the major flap in the slot area. Each major flap slot has upper and lower straight end edges with each inner slot end edge being straight and inclined at a small acute angle relative to a line parallel to the major flap fold line, and each minor tab has converging straight side edges with the tab edge nearer the flap fold line extending at a small acute angle relative to a line perpendicular to the fold line.

Abstract: A disposable mitt pack comprises a bag-like mitt for accommodating the hand of the wearer, at least a portion of at least one outer surface of the mitt having thereon a pile impregnated with a desired material. At least the pile area of the mitt is covered by a removable packaging layer which protects the impregnated pile until the layer is stripped away. Preferably the packaging layer is sealed to the mitt itself.

Abstract: A blank and a stackable carton produced from the blank and particularly suited for packing fresh fruits and vegetables includes a tray with a rectangular floor panel and vertical side walls. The side walls includes side cover flaps extending from fold lines defining the outer edges of the side walls. Pairs of side wall flaps are provided, each flap in each pair extending from a fold line defining an end of the side walls. A generally rectangular stacking panel is fitted into each end of the tray. Each stacking panel may include a pair of recesses at its lower edge which are aligned with openings in the rectangular floor panel of the tray. The trays can be vertically stacked with the openings in the floor of one tray aligned with tabs protruding from the upper surface of the lower tray.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a recloseable multi-seal package for food or the like characterized in that a triple seal of the contents is effected, and further characterized in that, upon removal of a sealing film or membrane, identifying indicia printed on a central portion of the film remain on a replaceable cover member.

Abstract: A partitioned carton having a self erecting bottom formed when the carton is squared, and an inter-locking tab projecting from one of the bottom flaps through an aperture in a partition panel connected to the bottom flap opposite the one bottom flap, the locking projection and aperture are shaped so that the locking projection passes into the aperture as the carton is being squared and locks the carton in an erected position to facilitate filling.

Abstract: A temporary material receptacle that is suitable for use in snowbound regions in which delivery boxes are oftentimes buried under deep drifts or torn away by snow plowing equipment. The receptacle is formed by folding a single blank of suitable material into a rectangular shaped open ended housing that is supported in a generally horizontal position by a vertical standard. The standard can be easily inserted into a snowbank to provide for a temporary depository that is capable of shielding material contained therein from the elements. Alternatively, the standard can be secured as by stapling to an existing post or pole.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tray having two handle configurations along two opposing side walls, the configurations comprising extensions in the form of flaps extending obliquely outward and downward from the upper edge portion of the two side walls, the flaps being held in position by being secured to projections extending from the ends of the two other side walls.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a wrap for a sterile article. The wrap is a sheet which encases the article to be wrapped by means of at least two inward folds, forming panels atop the article to be shielded. One of these panels has attached to it a member which extends underneath the package from a point on the panel spaced from its inward fold line so that the article can be unwrapped by reaching under the wrapped article and grabbing the member. By pulling the member towards the user with the package oriented with the panel that is attached to the member away from the user, the package can be unwrapped without reaching over and contaminating the exposed sterile article.

Abstract: An end loaded compartmented carton is formed from a cut and scored blank of paperboard that is preglued and shipped to the user in a generally flat folded condition for loading. The carton when squared is of essentially rectangular configuration and contains a full length internal false wall located between two opposed carton side walls to form two compartments in the carton and a bridge panel for one of the compartments that is located between the false internal wall and an adjacent carton side wall. The compartment containing the bridge panel is formed without any double thick panels or other overlapped panels which could produce obstructions that might interfere with the easy loading of the carton.

Abstract: The invention comprises a corrugated container for high density bulk materials. The side walls of a box or inner tube for a box are formed from two separate corrugated pieces, connected by overlapping seams. Each overlapping piece has a free end which is scored and folded to form an integral vertical support post, in the form of a vertically disposed triangular prism, the apex of which extends towards the interior of the box. The free end of each overlapping piece is tucked within the seam overlap, to secure the triangular post. The triangular vertical support posts in the side walls of the tube increase the stiffness of the side walls to prevent them from bulging under the pressure of the bulk material contained within the box. To increase the strength of the box against stacking forces and internal pressures, the inner box or tube may be placed snugly within an outer corrugated box.
