  • Patent number: 4341340
Abstract: This disclosure illustrates and describes a bottom closure structure for a liquid carrying, thermoplastic coated paperboard carton or container wherein the shapes of the four main bottom panels of the blank from which the carton is formed are such that they provide bottom panel side score lines which are sufficient in length to support the panels during the folding and tucking operation changing the flat blank into a finished carton bottom closure. In one embodiment of the invention, complete interdigital nesting or overlapping of adjacent blanks is provided for. As such, the cutting operation on a paperboard roll may be accomplished with an uninterrupted cut, without any resultant paperboard scrap being produced therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4341341
Abstract: A take out carton and a blank for forming the same is disclosed having a flat top portion and unique locking closure which provides additional stability for the carton. More particularly, a carton is disclosed having a tubular side wall and an auto-erecting lock bottom. The subject carton further includes a pair of opposed top panels, each having a pair of tab receiving apertures disposed adjacent the side edges thereof. A pair of opposed closure panels are provided each including two triangles. Each triangle further includes a central fold line defining a pair of minor triangular portions. The carton may have a generally inverted truncated pyramidal configuration to permit stacked nesting of the plurality of cartons. In the closed condition of the carton, the top edges of the top panels are in abutting relationship to define the flat top configuration.

  • Patent number: 4341306
Abstract: An internally hollow package includes front, rear and side panels. A pair of aligned openings are cut in the front and rear panels leaving corresponding flaps contiguous with an end panel. The flaps and the end panel abut and secure the heads of a set of razors. The razor handles are positioned between the front and rear panels and extend toward an opposite end panel having an opening formed therein through which the razor handles pass and remain secured. Two sets of razors are oppositely positioned in symmetrical relation to each other thus permitting the package to be hung straight from a central mounting hole located equidistant from the end panels.

  • Patent number: 4339069
Abstract: A box for use as a file container or the like characterized by a single piece, corrugated cardboard blank that is foldable into a completed configuration with lockable top panels that are openable and closable to allow access to the interior. The end portions of the sides have locking tabs so as to be locked into position and facilitate folding the rest of the box into place. The ends have two outer portions that fold over the end portions of the sides to make a triple strength end with vertical corrugations for stack strength. Hand holes are provided to facilitate lifting the box. The locking tab on one of the top panels is provided at each end of a foldable flap that folds over the other top panel. The locking tabs lock into locking aperture at each end by simply folding down.

  • Patent number: 4339070
Abstract: A supplementary component such as a handle or a pouring spout is provided on a carton formed from a unitary blank. The component is die cut into a flap and retained in position by deformable bridge members. Upon folding of the blank into a carton, access to the component is provided which permits it to be grasped to sever the deformable connections. In the case of a handle, the one flap is folded under another flap and an aperture provided in the other flap to permit access. Restraining means act between the two flaps to prevent separation of the handle from the carton.

  • Patent number: 4337861
Abstract: An adjustable card box to hold a multiplicity of the slide-type bingo cards in an upright viewing position and in a manner such that they can be rapidly flipped through comprises two trays, one of which fits and telescopes within the other. A finger-operable locking means serves to lock the position of one tray with respect to the other to permit expanding and collapsing of the space encompassed by the trays to facilitate storage of the box and to permit a player to accommodate the number of cards he wishes to play. The card box has front and rear upward extending flaps pivotedly mounted to the sidewalls, which in the open position serve to support the cards in the viewing position. The flaps can be folded down into the box flat to permit storage of the box and carrying of a vertical stack of playing cards on the box.

  • Patent number: 4336882
Abstract: A container in the form of a pocket pen which is formed with a plurality of compartments for containment of medical pills and is fitted with a container for dispensing of powders such as dietetic salt or sugar substitutes. The device appears to be in the form of a conventional pocket pen fitted with a conventional removable cap section. A pill chamber in the cap section is capped by a removable hollow plug unit at the end of the cap section for containment and dispensing of powder. The plug unit is fitted with an external rotatable cover formed in one radial section of the cover with perforations and with the external cover rotatably joined to an interior cover by a rivet with an opening in the interior cover located so that the exterior cover may be rotated so as to either close the opening of the interior cover or to align that opening with the perforations of the external cover.

  • Patent number: 4335842
Abstract: A compartment defining partition member is disclosed for insertion into a rectangular shipping case so as to divide that case into three separated compartments. The partition member comprises a single length blank of fiberboard folded on parallel cut-score and score lines. The folds are such that the inherent tendency of the folded panels to return to the unfolded condition of the blank biases the ends of the blank against diagonally opposed corners of the case to effectively resist displacement of the partition within the case as well as withdrawal of the partition from the case.

  • Patent number: 4334612
Abstract: A relatively pliable device upon which equipment may stand when in normal use and to which the equipment may be fastened for transport and storage. The device may comprise a carpet having a substantially skid-proof pile surface and a backing. A water impervious material may be bonded to the backing and a number of fastening straps may be anchored to the carpet. When equipment is fastened to the carpet by the anchor straps, the carpet may be rolled into a cylindrical configuration in which it may be held by a plurality of exterior straps. A moveable shoulder strap may be fastened to the exterior straps for ease in carrying and handling the device. A wheeled cap may be mounted on one end of the carpet so that a person transporting it need not bear the entire weight.

  • Patent number: 4332345
Abstract: This disclosure illustrates and describes a bottom closure structure for a liquid carrying, thermoplastic coated paperboard carton or container wherein the overlapped and sealed areas are formed so as to extend in an "X"-shaped configuration across the bottom, with minimal raw edge exposure on the inside. The shapes of the four main bottom panels of the blank from which the carton is formed are such that they accommodate interdigital nesting or overlapping with respect to the bottom section of an adjacent blank prior to the cutting operation on a paperboard roll, thereby resulting in a narrower roll and, hence, a substantial paperboard savings.

  • Patent number: 4330579
Abstract: A parison for producing a bottle by the biaxial orientation. The parison is prepared by injection-molding a synthetic resin into a bottomed tubular shape. The parison has its bottom portion made gradually thicker from the center of the outer circumference thereof such that the bottom portion can be uniformly oriented at a similar orientation rate to that of the drum portion of the bottle product. The bottom portion is made to protrude into such a generally semispherical shape that the radius of the outer spherical surface thereof is made larger than that of the inner spherical surface.
