  • Patent number: 8369258
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and data structures are provided for managing multicast IP flows. According to one embodiment, a network switch module includes a memory and multiple processors partitioned among multiple virtual routers (VRs). Each VR maintains a data structure including information relating to multicast sessions handled by the VR and including a first pointer for each multicast session, a chain of blocks of second pointers and one or more TCBs. Each first pointer points to a chain of blocks of second pointers. Each second pointer corresponds to an OIF of the VR participating in the multicast session defined by the first pointer and defines how many times to replicate packets associated with the multicast session. The TCBs store control information relevant to processing or routing packets. Each second pointer points to a TCB, which identifies the OIF out which packets of the multicast session are transmitted from the VR.

  • Patent number: 8265173
Abstract: In an analog signal compression method with digital compression and digital expansion of linear based or sine-based linear signals, a signal coordination point is determined in a bi-adaptive scaleable mV/step and a time/step structured plane. To accomplish this, the linear or sine-based input signal is digitized, the breaks of the digitized linear or sine-based signal are detected, and the time difference and the amplitude difference of two successive breaks of the linear or sine-based signal are determined. This permits time differences and amplitude differences of successive breaks to be value coded as a data word on the basis of adaptive scaleable time-per-step tables and voltage-per-step tables so that the time-per-step tables and the voltage-per-step tables are selected depending on the absolute value of the determined time difference and amplitude difference, thus producing compressed data. An associated expansion method for reconstructing the original analog signal is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8243811
Abstract: Noise filtering data compression removes noise differences from successive frames in a video signal. This is accommodated by accessing successive frames corresponding to a video signal. Frequency domain representations, for example first row and first column coefficients in the quantized DCT result matrix, are used to determine whether the block in the current frame should be considered identical to the corresponding block in the previous frame. If such is the case, the block data is rendered identical such as by overwriting one for the other. This removes any noise differential between the corresponding blocks from the successive frames.

  • Patent number: 8233407
Abstract: After every bus reset operation in an IEEE 1394 network, the network is reconfigured. This involves a table with further station-specific information being created after the bus initialization phase, the tree structure identification phase and the self identification phase. Each network station returns its station-specific information to the requesting network station. In the first phase, all that information which has been received up to a time determined by a first abort criterion is sorted into the table. Next, the still incomplete table is enabled for use by an application program in the requesting network station. In the second phase, the still missing station-specific information is then requested again and is sorted into the table when it is delivered by the stations to which requests have been sent.
