    Abstract: In one embodiment, the present disclosure describes a flared antenna where the upper portions of the prongs are separated into a plurality of spaced apart parallel fins. The parallel fins disposed on the energized prong are energized by a common electrical feed, such as a coaxial transmission line that enters the energization region of the energized prong. The use of separate fins allows a wider range of tuning to gain greater BW and scan performance for a given equivalent design, since each fin pair may be designed independently from the other fin pairs in that flared antenna. The flared antenna may be a Vivaldi antenna, a stepped notch antenna or some other flared shape.

In use, the mat based antenna and heater system may be positioned beneath a patient, such as during surgery or child birth. A controller is coupled to the antennas to transmit signals (e.g. interrogation signals) to the transponders and to receive signals (e.g., response signals) from the transponders. The controller also operates one or more heaters or heating elements to selectively provide warmth to a patient. One or more sensors can detect temperatures at one or more locations, and the controller can use temperature readings in as feedback in controlling the heaters or heating elements.

In one embodiment, the tube bundle assemblies may be shop fabricated as a unit to form an A-frame or V-frame cell construction The tubes may be finned. Steam circulating in a closed flow loop on the tube side from a steam turbine is cooled in each cell by ambient air blown through the tube bundles, thereby forming liquid condensate. The condensate is collected and returned to the Rankine cycle for reheating to form steam to drive the turbine.
