  • Patent number: 10096892
Abstract: A broadband stacked multi-spiral antenna array comprising two or more spiral antennas with a dielectric layer having a generally uniform thickness positioned between each pair of stacked antennas, which are all center-fed and in-phase. The antenna array may be embedded in a non-conductive material, such as fiberglass embedded in a resin, a honeycomb core sandwich, or structural foam, that may be used to form a structural element of a mobile platform. The structural element may include a via providing a pathway for coaxial cables. If two structural elements are hatch covers on the port and the starboard sides of an aircraft, the use of a stacked multi-spiral antenna array in each structural element provides two roughly hemispherical coverage patterns which together provide an omni-directional coverage pattern. The stacked multi-spiral antenna array may also include a reflecting cavity placed at the bottom of one of the spiral antennas.

  • Patent number: 10090590
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for enhanced antenna port isolation are disclosed. In one embodiment, a spatially compact patch antenna apparatus is disclosed. A plurality of walls are incorporated into the antenna assembly's bottom cover. The walls are located under the radiating element located on a top cover of the antenna assembly. The walls are in one implementation oriented orthogonally with respect to one another, and are placed adjacent to respective antenna feeds. The walls are then at least partly metallized using, for example, a laser direct structuring (LDS) process, and are further connected to a ground plane of an external substrate. By incorporating the metallized wall structures on the existing plastic structure of the bottom cover, isolation between the antenna ports is improved without requiring installation of additional components, use of slots in the ground plane, or increased physical separation (i.e., distance). Manufacturing cost and consistency are also advantageously improved.

  • Patent number: 10087868
Abstract: An abnormality detector of a turbocharged engine includes: a compressor including a plurality of blades that are detected portions; and a detecting portion configured to electrically detect the plurality of blades. Each time the blades are detected a predetermined number of times, one pulse having a pulse width corresponding to a measurement time required to detect the blades is output, and a turbo revolution is calculated from the pulse width of the output pulse. When it is judged that a rotation change of the rotating body which change is calculated based on a pulse width of a first pulse and a pulse width of a second pulse output after the first pulse exceeds a predetermined rate in a region where the rotating body exceeds a predetermined revolution, it is determined that an abnormality of the blade or an electromagnetic noise abnormality of the detecting portion occurs.
