Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of amyloid fibrils for providing nutritional minerals to the human body, particularly as a component in a food product, a dietary supplement or in a pharmaceutical product. The invention further provides for new compositions comprising composite materials of amyloid fibrils and nutritional minerals. The invention further relates to the use of such composite materials in the treatment of diseases and disorders and to the fortification of food and dietary supplements with nutritional minerals.

Abstract: An improved system and process for rapidly producing distilled spirits having characteristics associated with a much longer maturation process is provided. The method involves contacting wood with an unmatured distilled spirit under heated conditions and contacting the resulting heat-treated spirit with actinic light. The disclosure provides embodiments where a spirit is sequentially processed through heat and actinic light treatment. The disclosure also provides embodiments where a heat-treated spirit is mixed with a spirit that has been separately treated with light to give characteristics of a mature spirit. Air may also be percolated through a mature spirit in a container with a headspace at a gauge pressure between about ?25 inHg and about ?30 inHg, until the alcohol concentration of the mature spirit is reduced by between about 1% to about 2% by volume, and until the total volume of the mature spirit is reduced by about 10% or less.
Abstract: Methods and devices heat or cool viscous materials, such as meat emulsions useful for producing food and other products. The devices include a heat exchanger including a first plate, a second plate attached to the first plate, and a first spacer and a second spacer arranged between the first plate and the second plate. The first plate, the second plate, the first spacer, and the second spacer define at least one temperature controlled passaged for a product to pass through the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger can be used in a system including one or more of a grinder, a mixing tank, an emulsifier device, a positive displacement pump, or a cutting device.
Abstract: The present invention relates to feed compositions that can modify the feeding behavior of animals. Supplements can be added to no or low roughage rations that improve the performance of animals. In particular, the addition of calcium chloride to a low or no roughage ration can increase the number of feedings but decrease the amount of feeding per meal. This can result in promoting enhances feed conversion and better cost of feed to weight gain.

Abstract: The present disclosure disclosed is a method for reducing the purine content of soybean milk, which belongs to the technical field of food depurination. According to the method, purine-reducing soybeans are taken as raw materials, and macromolecular purine in a bound state is selected to be hydrolyzed into small molecules according to different existence forms of purine in soybeans, and then micromolecular purine is adsorbed and removed by an adsorbent. The method is high in feasibility and good in removal effect. The soybean milk of the present disclosure is safe and non-toxic, high in purine removal rate, and low in nutrient loss, has no obvious change in mouth feel compared with common soybean milk, and can be used as a safe food for gout patients.
