The assembly also includes a fluid channel extending from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet. The fluid channel subsequently includes an air inlet emanation point to which the downstream end of the air channel is connected, a frothing unit including a pump and a flow-through heating unit. The flow-through heating unit bounds a heating unit fluid channel that is a part of the fluid channel and has a small thermal mass and a steep temperature profile.

When the pet food kibble coated with a composition as described above, exhibits amounts of Salmonella sp. that are reduced by about 99%. This reduction is effective for at least 60 days post coating when compared to pet food kibble coated with a composition lacking one of (i)-(iv). The compositions are also used in a method for treating raw beef or poultry prior to grinding where the ground meat exhibits amounts of Salmonella sp. that are reduced by about 99%.
Abstract: In accordance with the teachings of the disclosure, a process is disclosed for pitting drupes. In some embodiments of a pitting process, the pitting machine uses a pitting knife that has a longitudinal passageway that extends axially through the pitting knife. The pitting machine has a steam source that provides pressurized steam to the passageway of the pitting knife. Prior to pitting the drupe, the pressurized steam flows through the passageway and onto a portion of a drupe positioned within a carrier in the pitting machine. The heat and pressure of the steam between the drupe and the cutting end of the cutting knife can soften a localized portion of the drupe so that the cutting knife can cut through the flesh of the drupe and eject the pit out of the opposite side of the drupe.

Abstract: An improved system and process for rapidly producing distilled spirits having characteristics associated with a much longer maturation process is provided. The method involves contacting wood with an amount of unmatured distilled spirit under heated conditions and contacting the resulting heat-treated spirit with actinic light. The disclosure provides embodiments where a spirit is sequentially processed through heat and actinic light treatment. The disclosure also provides embodiments where a heat-treated spirit is mixed with a spirit that has been separately treated with light to give characteristics of a mature spirit. Air may also be percolated through a mature spirit in a container with a headspace at a gauge pressure between about ?25 inHg and about ?30 inHg, until the alcohol concentration of the mature spirit is reduced by between about 1% to about 2% by volume, and until the total volume of the mature spirit is reduced by about 10% or less.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a clear beverage comprising the steps of: (i) providing an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion comprising an n-alkenyl succinate starch and an essential oil, wherein the n-alkenyl succinate starch is in excess of said essential oil; (ii) producing a turbid beverage by diluting said O/W emulsion to reach a desired beverage concentration; and (iii) storing said turbid beverage at a temperature of above 30° C. for a time sufficient to obtain a clear beverage.

In one embodiment the method of making a food product comprises feeding a liquid composition into a cavity, the liquid composition comprising at least 80% liquid egg comprising albumen and yolk; mixing the liquid composition in the cavity; raising the temperature of the mixed liquid composition to above 175° F.; and after raising the temperature, extruding the mixed liquid composition through a die cavity having a temperature greater than 175° F. to solidify and shape the mixed liquid composition into a solid composition; and cutting the solid composition to a desired length.
