  • Patent number: 7586943
Abstract: Described herein is a method for transmitting data on a bus with minimization of the bus switching activity, comprising the steps of converting the datum to be transmitted from its own original format to a transmission format that minimizes the switching activity on the bus, said conversion consisting in swapping the position of one or more bits of the datum to be transmitted, the swapping being performable according to a plurality of different variants, each of which is identified by a respective sorting pattern, and selecting, between the various sorting patterns, an optimal sorting pattern that minimizes the bus switching activity upon transmission on the bus of the datum generated using said optimal sorting pattern.

  • Patent number: 7558231
Abstract: Provided is a power allocation method and apparatus for providing a packet data service in a mobile communication system is capable of reducing outage of a line service while simultaneously providing the line service and the packet service. It is checked whether or not packet data traffic to be transmitted to a specified mobile station is newly generated. If the packet data traffic is newly generated, it is checked whether or not there is the mobile station making use of the line service where a current call is in progress. If there is the mobile station making use of the line service where the current call is in progress, it is checked whether or not the packet data traffic is currently transmitted to any other mobile station. If the packet data traffic is not currently transmitted to the other mobile station, the power transmitted to the mobile station making use of a new packet data service is gradually increased by a preset increment for a preset predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 7539202
Abstract: A network includes network nodes and a gateway. Each network node has a corresponding unique in-site IPv6 address for communication within a prescribed site, each in-site IPv6 address having a first IPv6 address prefix that is not advertised outside of the prescribed site. Network nodes can obtain from within the prescribed site a unique extra-site IPv6 address for mobile or extra-site communications. The extra-site IPv6 address has a second IPv6 address prefix, distinct from the first IPv6 address prefix, advertised by the gateway to the prescribed site and the wide area network. The gateway establishes a secure connection (e.g., tunnel) with each corresponding IPv6 node using its corresponding extra-site IPv6 address, and creates a corresponding binding cache entry specifying the corresponding extra-site IPv6 address and in-site IPv6 address. Hence, the gateway provides wide area network access while maintaining secrecy of the in-site IPv6 addresses.

  • Patent number: 7505418
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for performing network loopback using a virtual address includes detecting, in a system, data having a destination address matching an address resident in the system. A virtual destination address, which does not match an address of a device resident within the system and does not match an address of another system connected thereto, is generated. The destination address in the data is replaced with the virtual destination address. A routing table lookup is performed for the data. The virtual destination address is then replaced with the destination address and the data is forwarded to a network interface of the system.

  • Patent number: 7447234
Abstract: This method enables the reconstitution of messages fragmented in packets. It comprises a process for taking a census of the packets made available to a terminal (1) by transmission networks (Na, Nb) and a process for the reassembling of messages from packets listed by the census-taking process. These two processes implement a table of pointers pointing at the packets made available to the terminal (1) by the transmission networks (Na, Nb), sorted out by membership message, said pointers being placed, for each membership message, in a stack according to the order in which the packets that they point at are made available to the terminal (1) and being provided with information or status fields enabling the reporting of doubles or discrepancies between the order in which the packets of a stack are made available and the natural order of the message fragments constituted by the payloads of the packets, and the fate of the packet pointed at during the reassembling process.

  • Patent number: 7397774
Abstract: A data multiplexer that accommodates both industry standard CCSDS data packets and bits streams and standard IEEE 1394 data is described. The multiplexer provides a statistical allotment of bandwidth to the channels in turn, preferably four, but expandable in increments of four up to sixteen. A microcontroller determines bandwidth requested by the plurality of channels, as well as the bandwidth available, and meters out the available bandwidth on a statistical basis employing flow control to the input channels.
