  • Patent number: 9648712
Abstract: In an X-ray radiation source, a counter wall made of alkali-containing glass, out of walls of a housing of an X-ray tube, is arranged opposite to a high-voltage region VH of a power supply unit including a high-voltage generation module which generates a negative high voltage to be applied to a filament. This configuration prevents an electric field from being generated in the counter wall and thus suppresses precipitation of alkali ions from the glass. Therefore, it prevents change in potential relationship between electrodes at different potentials such as the filament, grid, and target and prevents occurrence of a trouble of failure in maintaining a desired X-ray amount, thus enabling stable operation to be maintained.

  • Patent number: 9619730
Abstract: Multi-energy imaging is afforded with a single detector array by generating a first data set, indicative of a first radiation energy spectrum, using a first set of cells of the array, and by generating a second data set, indicative of a second radiation energy spectrum, using a second set of cells of the array (e.g., where substantially more cells are in the first set than the second). The first data set is comprised of measured data from the first set of cells and estimated data that would have been yielded from the second set of cells had the second set been configured to detect the first energy spectrum. The second data set is comprised of measured data yielded from the second set of cells and estimated data that would have been yielded from the first set of cells had the first set been configured to detect the second energy spectrum.

  • Patent number: 9601223
Abstract: Anti-scatter plates are used to attenuate secondary radiation so that it is not detected by a detector array. However, anti-scatter plates often cast dynamic shadows on the detector array which results in noise in signals produced by the detector array. As disclosed herein, an anti-scatter grid comprises at least two anti-scatter plates. A percentage difference in the shadows cast by the first and the second anti-scatter plates is substantially zero (e.g., causing uniform percentage change in shadows cast on the detector array). Additionally, the shadows that are cast by the anti-scatter plates may be substantially static. In one embodiment, this is accomplished by having a top surface of an anti-scatter plate that has a transverse dimension that is less than a bottom surface of the anti-scatter plate.
