Abstract: A system and method are provided for detecting the presence of potential commercials in a video data stream. Each of the commercials has an expected time length that is an integer multiple of a first predetermined time length, and has an overall time length that is equal to or less than a second predetermined time length. Transitions in the audio or video of the video data stream are detected and the time of the transitions are recorded. Time differences between one or more successive transitions are detected. Any time differences that are an integer multiple of the first predetermined time length, and that have an overall time length that is equal to or less than the second predetermined time length are identified. The contents of the video data stream associated with the identified time differences are flagged as potential commercials and sent to a content processing platform for further analysis.

Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting media content in an aircraft are provided. A first video display unit is communicatively coupled to a personal electronic device for obtaining therefrom a request to present the media content. A wireless access point is communicatively coupled to the first video display unit for receiving from the first video display unit a first command to query the personal electronic device for media presentation parameters, and the wireless access point is communicatively coupled to the personal electronic device for obtaining the media presentation parameters therefrom. A second video display unit is communicatively coupled to the first video display unit via the wireless access point. The wireless access point is configured for issuing a second command to at least one of the first and second video display units to cause the media content to be presented according to the media presentation parameters.

Abstract: Information handling systems may be equipped with interfaces to facilitate connection with peripheral devices to serve a variety of functions. A peripheral device may be configured with read-only configuration data when coupled to an information handling system, and the peripheral device allowed to operate in read-only mode. The configuration data may be transmitted as configuration channel (CC) sideband of the interface, such as a USB Type-C interface. If the peripheral device cannot be configured in read-only mode, the information handling system may prevent access to the peripheral device to maintain security policies and prevent data leakage.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for providing an image-segmentation based streaming service. The system includes a communication circuit configured to establish a communication channel with a streaming server, a storage configured to store data provided by the streaming server, a display configured to output an image, a processor functionally connected to the communication circuit, the storage, and the display. The processor can detect a region-of-interest (ROI) of an output image associated with a media presentation description (MPD) provided by the streaming server and transmit the ROI information to the streaming server. The processor can also receive image segments of a first resolution corresponding to the ROI information and a full image of a second resolution from the streaming server. The processor can also synthesize the image segments of the first resolution and the full image of the second resolution to output a synthesized reconstruction image through the display.

Abstract: An online system receives live stream content to be provided to one or more client devices as the live stream is ongoing. The online system generates a variety of transcoded live stream content to ensure that client devices can readily playback the appropriately encoded content. Once the live stream ends, the online system determines whether to use a transcoded live stream content or to use the original content received by the online system in order to generate a video on demand. To do so, the online system considers the quality of the original content and issues associated with the original content such as missing video frames or missing audio excerpts. The online system can choose to normalize the original content by eliminating the issues to improve the quality of the normalized original content and subsequently generate the video on demand from the normalized original content.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining the location of advertisements in multimedia assets are disclosed. A method includes obtaining a multimedia asset comprising at least one of video, audio and text, identifying segments of the multimedia asset, and for each segment, determining whether the respective segment represents an advertisement. For each segment that represents an advertisement, the method further includes extracting a predetermined number of fingerprints from the respective segment, submitting, to an advertisement database, the predetermined number of fingerprints, receiving, from the advertisement database, a count of the extracted fingerprints matching fingerprints previously stored in the advertisement database, and determining, based on the count, whether to add an indication that the respective segment is a new advertisement to the advertisement database.

Abstract: A system and method for the simultaneous creation, assembly and transmission of synchronous multiple personalized messages to specific targeted individuals or other entities. The system can send rich media distinctly personalized messages such as commercials to a small or large group of selected individuals through any appropriate distribution media. A personalized message is created based on segmenting a message into multiple slots, and providing different selectable segments for each slot. The multiple segments are then simultaneously broadcasted over multiple data streams to a receiver, wherein the receiver switches between the data streams to assemble the personalized message in a just-in-time fashion. Other data including overlays, animation, frame transitions etc. may also be transmitted and used to assemble the personalized message.

A functional requirement of an operating system available to a browser-based embedded device is obtained; an interface for system operations by a user is set by using a predetermined language; a web layer interface for invoking the interface directly is set and an adaptation layer interface for data interaction with the web layer interface is set; a Linux function interface is set based on the adaptation layer interface and a communication way between the web layer interface and the adaptation layer interface is set; and according to the obtained user operation, an interface response is carried out and functional feedback is carried out by a television set. Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method of predicting a location of a user's viewport using location information of a sound source in 360 virtual reality (VR) content. According to the present invention, the spatial representation description (SRD) and the sound source localization information (SLI) of the audio MPD are transmitted with the video MPD being extended, the SRD of the sound source is used to derive the location of the sound source, and the weights of the respective items of the region of interest (ROI), the sound source localization information (SLI), the current viewport, and the pole are allocated differentially according to the bandwidth condition and then multiplied by the reference bitrate to determine the segment bitrate to be provided next, thereby improving the accuracy of predicting the location of the user's viewport and ensuring the quality of experience (QoE) for regeneration speed and regeneration quality.
