Abstract: A virtual reality (VR) system includes a console an imaging device, a head mounted display (HMD) and a user input device. The console includes a virtual reality (VR) engine, a tracking module and an application store. The HMD includes a display element configured to display content to a user wearing the HMD. The virtual reality engine is configured to determine a vector for a virtual object thrown at a target in response to physical input from the user, a gaze vector for the eyes of the user and a virtual object position vector for the target and modify the vector for the virtual object based on at least one of the gaze vector and the virtual object position vector.

Abstract: Sentiment-aware management of profile pictures on social media platforms. Embodiments of the invention provide for changing a profile picture of a user of a social network platform. A user submits content for posting to the social network platform. Analysis of electronic text associated with the user post is performed to identify a post sentiment. If the post sentiment differs from a sentiment associated with the profile picture, a candidate replacement profile picture having an associated sentiment that matches the post sentiment more closely relative to the associated sentiment of the profile picture, is identified. The profile picture may be replaced by the candidate profile picture.

Abstract: A voice-interaction system enables mobile workers to capture measurements, observations and complete inspections using their voice as they move about, leaving one or both hands and eyes free to safely and effectively focus on work tasks. The system has the flexibility to recognize highly specialized vocabulary, prompting for and error-checking utterances that are unique to an industry, company, government agency, user or specific task. This data is saved and formatted to be viewed, listened to, or input into a structured data-base for further use.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for a system, a computer program product, and/or a method that improves a display of an input selection displayed on a compact screen. To improve this display, embodiments search displayed content for input items, wherein the input items are selections inputted by a user; display different marks, each associated with each of the input items; receive a subsequent input from the user; and change a selection state of each item of the input items corresponding to a mark of the different marks in response to the subsequent input received corresponding to that mark.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments are directed to a media capture lock affordance for a graphical user interface displayed by a media capture device. The media capture lock affordance allows a user to lock and unlock a capture state of the media capture device using a simple and intuitive touch gesture that can be applied by the user's finger (e.g., the user's thumb) while holding the media capture device in one hand.

Abstract: Augmented reality is used to display graphical elements overlaid on a continually updating image of an area around an augmented reality device (e.g., a mobile device). The graphical element may contain geographical location information about a grave of an ancestor and/or biographical information about the ancestor. The continually updating image is captured by a camera of the augmented reality device and updates in response to time and motion of the augmented reality device. Based on orientation data and geographical location data collected by the augmented reality device, the graphical element is updated and displayed on the mobile device.

An exemplary embodiment detects a predefined user action of a remote control, and then increases brightness of a currently presented image that is being presented on the display in response to detecting the predefined user action so that an ambient lighting level in the vicinity of the display is increased.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to identify a type of media presented by a media player are disclosed herein. Example apparatus disclosed herein include an image analyzer to process an image taken of a media player application to determine whether an appearance characteristic of a user-selectable media application control of the media player application indicates the user-selectable media application control is able to be manipulated while media is presented by the media player application.
