Abstract: An apparatus and method for a cutting blade having a pointed tip and ultra-flat faces that intersect at ultra-sharp edges. The cutting blade is batch-fabricated on a standard {100} semiconductor mono-crystalline silicon wafer using conventional anisotropic wet etching silicon micromachining techniques as a pair of spaced-apart substantially parallel and planar top and bottom surfaces each formed in {100} planes of a {100} mono-crystalline silicon substrate with first and second mutually rotated cutting edges formed between the top and bottom surfaces of the substrate and substantially parallel thereto in adjacent {111} planes that form a first pointed tip at an intersection therebetween, and having third and fourth cutting edges formed between the top and bottom surfaces of the substrate and substantially parallel thereto in adjacent {110} planes with the third and fourth cutting edges forming different pointed intersections with the first and second mutually rotated cutting edges.
Abstract: A leaf spring assisted opener for a folding tool such as a folding knife. The folding tool includes tool pivotally carried by a handle. The tool defines a tang at the proximal end. A leaf spring is carried within the handle for assisting in the opening of the tool. The leaf spring defines an elongated, arcuate configuration having a distal end adapted to engage the tang of the tool. When in the closed orientation, the leaf spring is biased toward the tang of the tool, thus holding it in the closed position. The tang of the tool defines a shoulder strategically positioned such that as the tool is pivoted from the closed position, the leaf spring eventually engages the shoulder and begins to release the tension in the leaf spring. At this point, the tension in the spring serves to open the tool the remainder of the rotation.
Abstract: A heavy duty utility knife with ergonomic finger and thumb positions in relation to an internal stabilizer pivot structure which includes a wheel for safer, stronger, smoother and more efficient cutting. Abstract: A wick trimmer apparatus is herein provided and more particularly, a wick trimmer with a measuring foot that facilitates the effective cutting of a wick to an appropriate length. The wick trimmer has two arms and a measuring foot connected to the second arm that determines the length of a wick protruding from the top portion of a candle. The wick trimmer also has a debris tray formed from a top portion of the measuring foot and a top portion of a base of the first arm. The angles of the arms facilitate both the effective trimming of wicks and the ability of the wick trimmer to access a candle housed within a narrow candle container.

Abstract: A hand held hair trimming device which when pulled through the hair trims only a determined portion of the ends of hair strands while leaving adjacent hairs uncut. The device will cut a predetermined length off only the distal ends of the hair shafts each time it has the hair drawn through one or a plurality of serpentine pathways formed by retainer cavities and an engageable retainer. The cutting head portion of the device may be removed and replaced and optional hair dryer or vacuum may be attached to an aperture on the rear of the cutting head to dry hair, vacate cut ends, or encourage distal ends of hairs toward the cutting blade.
Abstract: A utility knife having a handle and a blade holder which is pivotally mounted on the handle for movement from an unfolded position to a folded position. The handle has a space adapted to receive the blade holder when the blade holder is in its folded position. The blade holder includes a main wall and guard wall pivotally mounted on the main wall to pivot from an open position to a closed position overlying the main wall. The main wall being adapted to hold a blade so that a blade is interposed between the main wall and guard wall when the guard wall is in its closed position.
Abstract: A wire stripper that can be utilized to rapidly strip insulation from a number of wires simultaneously and can be used simultaneously on a variety of different gauge wires. A stripping block has a plurality of wire apertures of varying diameters. Cooperating and continuous with the apertures are a plurality of blade receiving slots. A blade is positioned into at least one of the slots so that its cutting edge enters into an aperture. A compress bar is tightened down onto the blade to exert compress pressure. Wire is inserted into the wire aperture with the appropriate diameter for the selected gauge of wire. The compress bar is tightened using wing nuts so that enough pressure is exerted onto the blade to slit the insulation of the wire.
Abstract: A sharpener includes a sharpener body, a guide collar and a shaving blade. The guide collar has an oval bore defining a pencil-guiding channel and is mounted on the sharpener body such that it can be rotated essentially about the axis of the pencil-guiding channel. The shaving blade is fastened on a blade holder of the sharpener body to be positioned axially offset in relation to the guide collar and obliquely in relation to the axis of the pencil-guiding channel. A concave guide contour, into which the shaving blade projects by way of a cutting edge is formed on an inner surface of the blade holder adjacent to the pencil-guiding channel. When the pencil positioned in the pencil-guiding channel is rotated in relation to the sharpener body, the axis of the pencil-guiding channel is guided on an essentially oval path in relation to the cutting edge.
Abstract: The disclosure provides nail clippers having a pair of jaws shaped to provide oppositely disposed arcuate cutting edges and biased to an open position with a shield extending around and projecting forwardly of the corners of the cutting edges. The shield also can extend rearwardly from the cutting edges to form manipulating levers for operating the jaws. These can be aesthetically designed to provide the nail clippers with the appearance of an animate object such as a butterfly, or an inanimate object such as a vehicle.

Abstract: A combination utensil for preparing and eating crustaceans comprising an elongated handle portion having opposing longitudinal ends; a crustacean shell breaking tool extending integrally from one of the longitudinal ends; and a fork extending integrally from a remaining one of the two longitudinal heads.
Abstract: An outer cutter of a reciprocating type electric shaver in which an inner cutter makes sliding contact with an inside surface of a curved portion of the outer cutter, the curved portion being formed by bending a thin metal plate, which has numerous hair entry apertures, into a curved shape; and the curved portion being provided at both ends thereof with blocking portions that cover both ends of a space defined by the curved portion so as to prevent cut hair from being discharged to outside of the outer cutter, the blocking portions being formed integral with the curved portion.
Abstract: A case knife (1, 101), generally consists of a pair of substantially symmetrical handle shells (13, 112). A single edge razor blade B is removably supported in one end of the handle formed by these handle shells. Each handle shell includes two moving parts—a guard (10, 110) and a thumb or finger operable button (5, 105). Each such guard, when paired with a substantially identical guard of the other handle half shell, flanks the otherwise protruding sharp edge of the razor blade. Each guard can move independently to expose a protruding corner of the razor blade. The operable button is mounted on an axle or lug (14, 103) that passes from the inside of a handle shell, through to its outside surface. This axle is in turn fixed to a cam follower (20, 120) mounted on the inside of each shell.

Abstract: A device for trimming a candlewick trims the wick at a predetermined height above a candle. The device includes first and second elongated gripping arms that are pivotably coupled to each other at a first end. An opening is formed at the first end between the first and second gripping arms. A pair of cutting blades are arranged between and transverse to the elongated gripping arms. The cutting blades are spaced a distance away from the first end of the first and second gripping arms, the distance being equal to the predetermined height. When the first end of the first and second gripping arms is set on the candle such that the candlewick extends through the opening, pivoting the first and second gripping arms causes the cutting blades to trim the candlewick at the predetermined height.
