  • Patent number: 6412181
Abstract: A cutting tool comprises an elongate housing for slidably receiving a cutting blade. The cutting tool is in the form of an attachment for an electric jigsaw, and the housing incorporates a pair of clamping brackets for mounting on a footplate of the jigsaw. Each bracket is provided with a mounting flange for clamping onto the footplate when a compressive force is applied to move the clamping brackets towards each other. The cutting blade is driven by the jigsaw in a reciprocating manner. A workpiece support extends from a free end of the housing, and has a support member arranged to engage a workpiece in a stabilizing manner adjacent the free end of the housing when cutting. The support member is fixed to a guide member which extends parallel to and adjacent the cutting blade where it protrudes from the free end of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6405615
Abstract: A fixture for positioning an abrasive tool above a running surface of a snowboard for beveling a snowboard edge including a head having one or more feet, each foot including an indexing portion for indexing the fixture against a marginal side of the snowboard. An arm is connected to and projects from the head and a carrier is connected to the arm at a predetermined distance from the indexing portion of the foot. The carrier includes a tool shim. When the fixture is in use, the tool shim bottom face may be held in sliding contact with in a plane substantially parallel to the running surface of the snowboard at a predetermined and fixed distance from the marginal side of the snowboard. A finishing tool, such as a file, is held at a predetermined working angle relative to the running surface of the snowboard by spanning the file between the upper face of the tool shim and the edge of the snowboard. The working angle of the bevel may be varied by advancing the arm through the carrier.

  • Patent number: 6363615
Abstract: An automatically opening knife including an elongated handle with opposing separate sides forming a spacing for a blade having a working end and a tang at the opposite end. The blade may be extended from or folded into the handle. A coil spring connected between the blade and the handle biases the blade to an open position. A rotatable locking element prevents opening or closing the blade by rotational positioning with the use of a cutout in the locking element that permits the tang to pass through during pivotal movement of the blade. The locking element is further rotatably actuatable to both an unlocked position to coincide the cutout and the tang and a locked position where the locking element abuts the tang to lock the blade from movement. The locking element has separate locking element abutments cooperating with separate tang abutments to selectively prevent movement of the blade.

  • Patent number: 6363617
Abstract: A guard for a cast cutter includes a first member securable to a cast cutter and a second member securable to a guard member. The second member is freely movable relative to the first member during operation along a support axis. Stops limiting movement in either direction along the support axis. This cast cutter guard has only one setting which accommodates variations thickness. Pressure exerted upon the cast cutter during operation results in movement of the second member relative to the first member, rather than pressure upon the injured area.
