  • Patent number: 9689659
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of detecting an object using a detection signal supplied by a proximity sensor. The method comprises the steps of generating a reference signal by filtering the value of the detection signal, defining a first detection threshold, and going from an object non-detecting state to an object detecting state when the value of the detection signal becomes greater than the first detection threshold. When the value of the detection signal becomes greater than the first detection threshold, the value of the reference signal is readjusted in a manner such that the value of the detection signal again becomes less than or respectively greater than, the first detection threshold.

  • Patent number: 9640994
Abstract: Three phase power flow analysis of an unbalanced power distribution system decouples voltage changes resulting from nodal admittance matrix into one contribution from a real part, conductance matrix, and other contribution from an imaginary part, and a susceptance matrix. A first voltage change and second voltage change resulting from conductance and susceptance matrices are determined respectively. The voltages of a node of the power distribution system are determined as a combination of first and second voltages.

  • Patent number: 9618374
Abstract: Flowmeters are described in which a sensor signal received from a sensor that is attached to vibratable flowtube, so as to determine properties of a fluid within the flowtube, contains a drive signal component and a Coriolis mode component. The flowmeters are operable to determine drive parameters of the drive signal component, as well as Coriolis parameters of the Coriolis mode component. By analyzing the sensor signal based on the drive signal parameters, and not on the Coriolis signal parameters, the flowmeters are able to provide stable and accurate determinations of the properties of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 9594358
Abstract: Stability of a control system for a materials testing system using specified filter parameters is confirmed by inputting to the control system a test signal having a predetermined waveform, automatically monitoring the output of the materials testing system, and automatically comparing the output to a threshold. If the output exceeds the threshold, a first action is taken. If the output does not exceed the threshold, input of a command signal to the control system is permitted.

  • Patent number: 9540769
Abstract: Multiple groups of sensors are circumferentially spaced apart at each cross-directional position along a sensing roll of a nip press to measure and cancel or nearly cancel the effects of rotational variability which may be acting on the sensing roll. The strategically-placed sensors are designed to measure the pressure being placed against the web that is being advanced through the nip press. The average of the measurements of multiple sensors spaced circumferential apart provides a good cancellation of any rotational variability that might be found at a cross-directional position on the sensing roll. In this manner, a more true measurement of the nip pressure profile can be obtained and better adjustments made to reduce nip pressure profile variability. In addition, the nip variability profile may be used as a predictor of cover or bearing failures, resonant frequencies and other roll anomalies.

  • Patent number: 9485292
Abstract: An apparatus and related method are provided for improving the performance of virtual desktop services. A network device is deployed in a network to intercept packets of a control session initiated by a client with a connection broker to obtain data from a host. The network device initiates a new control session to the connection broker on behalf of the client. The network device receives host information from the connection broker, replaces address information of the network device for the host information in a control session message and sends the control session message to the client. The network device establishes a data session with the client, initiates a data session with the host on behalf of the client and relays data between the data session with the host and the data session with the client such that the network device is transparent to the client and the host.

  • Patent number: 9448280
Abstract: A testing system and method incorporate a test signal generator for generating a test signal with multiple tones uniformly distributed across a wideband having a specific bandwidth. This test signal is generated based on user-specified test signal parameter(s) (e.g., using an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) spread spectrum technique) and processed (e.g., converted from digital to analog or shifted to a different wideband having the same bandwidth), as necessary, so that it is suitable for application to a specific device under test and so that the tones account for the full range of frequencies with the wideband operation of that device under test. After it is applied to the device under test, the resulting output signal is captured, processed (e.g., converted back to digital or shifted back to the initial wideband), as necessary, and analyzed in order to determine the frequency responses associated with each of the tones.
