Abstract: A catheter system includes an elongate catheter having a lumen extending at least partially therethrough, and a leading catheter end segment, a guidewire positionable within the lumen of the catheter, and fastening structure supported adjacent the leading catheter end segment. The guidewire and the catheter are adapted for relative movement. The fastening structure is dimensioned to selectively engage the guidewire to secure the guidewire with respect to the leading catheter end segment such that movement of the guidewire causes deflection of the leading end segment with respect to the longitudinal axis.
Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein relates to systems, methods and/or devices for calibrating sensor data to be used in estimating a blood glucose concentration. A relationship between sensor measurements and reference readings may be used to estimate a relationship between sensor measurements and blood glucose concentration. Abstract: The presently disclosed delivery systems utilize microtools, also referred to as theragrippers, to deliver a drug or other therapeutic agent to targeted tissue. More particularly, the drug delivery system and methods provide a delivery system that is capable of anchoring to a tissue site and then delivering a drug or therapeutic agent to the tissue directly to or in the vicinity of the site over an extended period of time. Any number of theragrippers may be deployed as desired to deliver different doses of a desired drug or therapeutic agent. The theragrippers also can be biodegradable such that they remain in place for an extended period of time and then degrade without adversely affecting the surrounding tissue.

Abstract: There are disclosed devices and methods for protecting a user from a sharp tip of a medical needle. In an embodiment, a device includes a central body portion, a medical needle having a sharp tip, a pair of wings in attachment to the central body portion, and a hook-and-loop fastening system disposed on at least one of the wings, and configured to selectively attach the wings together with the medical needle positioned between the wings so as to protect a user from the sharp tip of the medical needle. In another embodiment, a method includes withdrawing a sharp tip of a medical needle from a patient, closing a pair of wings with the medical needle positioned between the wings, and fastening the wings together with the medical needle positioned between the wings so as to protect a user from the sharp tip of the medical needle.
Abstract: A PIVC includes a catheter adapter having a catheter that extends distally from the catheter adapter, and an introducer needle that inserts through the catheter. The introducer needle has a grip component at a proximal end of the introducer needle. The grip component extends outwardly and distally to form a winged grip adjacent the catheter adapter when the introducer needle is inserted within the catheter. The grip component can be rotatable within the catheter adapter to allow repositioning of the winged grip with respect to the catheter adapter.

Abstract: An enteral feeding connector facilitates an increased flow rate into and through the connector to accommodate feeding fluids requiring higher flow rates for delivery. The connector includes a male connector portion including an inlet, a fluid passage in fluid communication with the inlet, and at least one connector projection at the inlet. The connector projection defines a cross-sectional area of the inlet configured to facilitate delivering feeding fluid requiring higher flow rates through the connector.
Abstract: The invention relates to a breast pump kit comprising a breast pump collection system which is to be replaceable and detachable connected to an electrical driving unit during use. The breast pump collection system comprises a breast shield for placing on a breast of a user, a pump unit, and tubing connecting the breast shield to the pump unit. The pump unit comprises a compartment of a variable volume in fluid connection to the exterior only via the tubing. The pump unit is configured to be detachable combined to the driving unit such that a driving motion of the driving unit acts to alternatingly expand and contract the compartment of the pump unit. In this way the pump unit creates alternating suction and pressure in the breast shield and at the breast of the user when in use. The invention further relates to a breast pump collection system for use in such breast pump kit.
Abstract: The invention is directed to drug delivery device comprising a primary drug delivery assembly (3) with a primary dose dial sleeve (17) and a secondary drug delivery assembly (4) with a secondary drive sleeve (24). For user selection, a selection switch (48) is movable between a first, a second and a third position and a clutch (49) is connected to the selection switch (48) such that movement of the selection switch (48) causes rotation of the clutch (49). A secondary drive sleeve (24) is configured to rotate and to engage the clutch (49), wherein the clutch (49) is configured to transfer rotation to the secondary drive sleeve (24) when the selection switch (48) is moved from the first position into the second position and to disengage from the secondary drive sleeve (24) when the selection switch (48) is moved from the first into the third position.

Abstract: MicroElectroMechanical System (MEMS) devices can be fabricated completely of hydrogel materials. Such hydrogels can include polyethylene glycol with diacrylate functional groups (e.g., PEGDA), which are photopolymerizable in the presence of crosslinkers and photoinitiators. By using PEGDA monomers of different molecular weights and at different percentages, the mechanical properties of the polymerized gels and their respective permeabilities can be tuned. This spatial variation in properties and permeabilities can lead to different functionalities between different portions of the hydrogel MEMS device. Portions of the hydrogel device may be remotely actuated by applying wave energy, for example, a magnetic field, high intensity focused ultrasound, and/or infrared radiation. The remote actuation can allow the device to be actuated in vivo, for example, to allow the device to deliver a drug or other substance at a desired time and/or desired location within a patient.
