Abstract: Provided is an information processing apparatus that enables an objective determination of an estimation of work related to printing. A data acquiring unit acquires a job for estimation. A unit estimating unit calculates an estimation of the work for each specific unit of the job acquired by the data acquiring unit. An entire estimating unit estimates and updates the estimation of the work for the entire job in real time based on the estimation of the work for the specific unit at the time calculated by the unit estimating unit. An estimation presenting unit presents the estimation of the work calculated by the entire estimating unit in real time.

The method includes displaying a corner indication on the second window, the corner indication indicating a location where a top left corner of the digital image of the print job will be placed on the image receiving medium, and selecting the print job in the first window. Upon selection of the print job in the first window, the corner indication is replaced by a canvas item with a size of a layout of the digital image of the selected print job, and the corner indication is moved to a location on the virtual representation where a next to be selected print job will originate.

Abstract: Variable data printing operations use static and variable content to create many different documents. An estimation system for printing operations implements accelerated consumable use estimation for variable data printing operations by tagging reused objects having static content. The static content is rendered within the estimation system once and then stored for use in later estimation operations, as needed. Variable content is rendered for each record. Using this process, the estimation system does not need to render reused content repeatedly in providing consumable use estimates.
