  • Patent number: 9719403
Abstract: An internal combustion engine exhaust system supporting structure includes a body fastening portion, an exhaust fastening portion, a bracket, and a stay. The body fastening portion is provided on a power plant or a vehicle body located on a side of an exhaust passage extending from an internal combustion engine to a rear of a vehicle so that exhaust emissions flow from the internal combustion engine to the rear of the vehicle. The bracket is fastened to the body fastening portion. The stay is fastened to the exhaust fastening portion and has lower stiffness than the bracket. The bracket and the stay are fastened to each other at a connecting portion so that a vertical distance between the exhaust fastening portion and the connecting portion in a vertical direction is greater than a vertical distance between the body fastening portion and the connecting portion in the vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 9713952
Abstract: A vehicle side protection device prevents damage to the side of a vehicle. The device includes a housing for coupling to a vehicle. A slot extends through a top side of the housing into an interior space of the housing. Each of a pair of rails is coupled to and extends from the housing coplanar with the roller wherein the rails are configured for being positioned on the side of the vehicle. A cover has a bottom end coupled to a roller in the housing such that rotation of the roller extends and retracts the cover relative to the housing. The cover comprises slats coupled to a layer of fabric positioned between the slats and the side of the vehicle. The slats are stiff and parallel to each other and the roller wherein the cover is pivotable along edges of the slats to facilitate wrapping the cover around the roller.

  • Patent number: 9714047
Abstract: The disclosure provides pallet trucks having a selective turning radius. The pallet trucks include load wheel systems having at least two load wheel assemblies below each fork. A forward load wheel assembly is located near the forward end of the fork and a central load wheel assembly is located near the center of a central portion of the fork. A first turning radius is defined by the distance between the forward load wheel assembly and a directionally adjustable rear wheel when the forward load wheel assembly supports the fork. The central load wheel assembly may be selectively deployed to lift and support the fork to yield a second, shorter turning radius defined by the distance between the central load wheel assembly and the directionally adjustable rear wheel.

  • Patent number: 9701249
Abstract: A retractable vehicle step is attachable to a vehicle or truck, such as at the rear portion. The vehicle step facilitates access to a cargo hold of the vehicle. Advantageously, the vehicle step provides clearance space relative to a tailgate of the vehicle by displacing a stepping member of the vehicle step in a generally lateral direction. The vehicle step desirably has a covered and protected biasing mechanism for transitioning between retracted and extended positions of the stepping member. Another advantage is that the vehicle step is readily attachable to the vehicle using already existing connection members, thereby generally eliminating or mitigating the need for customized retrofitting and avoiding undesirable installation cost and time. Further, the vehicle step may be pulled out from under the vehicle by the foot of a user.

  • Patent number: 9694837
Abstract: Collapsible reusable carrying cases are provided in sizes varying from small food containers to large push cart bins on casters. The cases are assembled or disassembled from a joined flat space-saving configuration to a functioning case and vice-versa. All parts that make up a carrying case do not separate from the carrying case and no parts can be removed. The cases are formed from rigid plastic panels, and are assembled or disassembled without tools. The sides of the cases are erected progressively by hand by interlocking elements at the corners. The panels also disassemble progressively by being manually pulled apart. When folded into a flat storage or shipping configuration, the panels stay together, resisting unfolding by virtue of snaps which are either molded into the panels or bonded to them. The carrying cases are resistant to water, dirt, bacteria, molds, allergens, and inclement weather.

  • Patent number: 9687724
Abstract: Ski binding heel unit includes lateral release cams and a vector decoupler mechanism that provide lateral shear release of the heel of a ski boot from a ski. The ski binding heel unit includes an independent vertical heel release mechanism, independent lateral release mechanism and a forward pressure compensator. The lateral release cams have laterally outwardly flaring contact points. The vector decoupler mechanism restricts heel unit lateral rotation and translation to a control path. The shape of the lateral release cams dictates the control path. The vector decoupler mechanism redirects the non-lateral forces without effecting the vertical heel release, lateral heel release or forward pressure compensator. The lateral release cams and vector decoupler mechanism avert non-lateral, benign loads from the lateral heel release, and avert non-vertical, benign loads from the vertical heel release thereby reducing the incidence of inadvertent pre-release of a boot from a ski.

  • Patent number: 9688321
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine generating exhaust gas flow and a vehicle body having a first body end facing oncoming ambient airflow when the vehicle is in motion and an opposite second body end. A vehicle underbody section spans a distance between the first and second body ends. A diffuser disposed at the second body end controls an underbody airflow portion past the second body end. An exhaust duct discharges the exhaust gas via a duct outlet arranged between the underbody section and the diffuser. A first diffuser aperture aligns with the duct outlet for discharging the exhaust gas from the outlet to the ambient. A second diffuser aperture pulls at least a fraction of the underbody airflow over the duct outlet and through the first aperture. The first and second apertures accelerate the pulled underbody airflow to increase a downforce on the vehicle body at the second body end.
