  • Patent number: 5588245
Abstract: A container for protecting a fishing lure from entanglement with other fishing tackle without removing the lure from its attachment to a fishing line of a fishing rod. The container comprises a relatively stiff longitudinal perimeter wall structure and spaced end walls transverse to the perimeter wall structure. The perimeter wall structure is split longitudinally into two container parts. The container may be removably mounted on a fishing rod by pivot closure of the container parts about the fishing rod shaft so as to form a protective fishing lure chamber. At least one of the transverse end walls is formed of a deformable material such that mounting the container on a fishing rod shaft causes the deformable end wall to transversely press against the rod shaft in a frictionally engaging manner that resists longitudinal slippage of the container along the rod shaft.

  • Patent number: 5584139
Abstract: A portable, collapsible chamber for asphyxiating trapped animals is described. The chamber is used in its canopy configuration and is transported and stored in its collapsed or folded configuration. When deployed in its canopy configuration, the chamber is placed over a trap that contains an animal in captivity. The animal is subjected to a lethal or immobilizing gas which is supplied to the chamber. The chamber includes front, back and end panels, each of which is hinged to an edge of a top panel. The panels are configured so that there gaps which function as gas vents between the end panels and the front and back panels. The front panel contains a gas inlet opening. The chamber optionally includes carrying handles, magnetic strips to help secure the chamber in its collapsed configuration and heat sensitive tape to sense the temperature of the chamber when gas is supplied to it.

  • Patent number: 5575102
Abstract: A shrimp trawl net excluder device which excludes debris and turtle size sea creatures, fin-fish and other such marine life while allowing the desired shrimp catch to be retained. A hoop is provided in association with or adapted to such hard framed excluder devices, having a spoiler plate which directs the flow of water directly into the excluder grating forming a fast moving current which serves as a water curtain. The water curtain allows debris, fin-fish, and other unwanted sea creatures to pass unobstructed through an unobstructed aperture in the net, located directly above the excluder, thus eliminating the need for a net flap or gate apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5572825
Abstract: A glue trap for trapping vermin, such as insects, rodents and the like. In particular, a glue trap for trapping cockroaches, having a design which significantly enhances the number of cockroaches which are caught. The glue trap is designed for use specifically in target areas such as corner locations and confined spaces which are regions frequented by cockroaches, and has a unique right angled corner portion and a top opening in the corner substantially above the glue surface. A three-dimensional trap with top and side openings is provided through which vermin may access the trap interior. The trap may include an attractant to entice cockroaches and provides a slippery surface and/or substantially smooth interior surfaces juxtaposed to the adhesive so that once a cockroach is caught on the adhesive it is unable to use either a surrounding surface or edge to pull itself free.

  • Patent number: 5570652
Abstract: A pest guard comprises a flat disk mounted on a cylindrical sleeve which is fixed against linear movement on a support member by a pair of clamps. The sleeve is provided with a longitudinal slot permitting it to be placed over the support member. The clamps are each formed by two halves and adapted to be fitted over a respective ends of the sleeve so that the clamps permit rotational movement of the sleeve but inhibit longitudinal movement of the sleeve about the cable. The disk is provided with a central opening such that it is permitted to rotate about the sleeve. The disk is also provided with a radial, curved slit which resists opening and which maintains the disk flat through extended use.

  • Patent number: 5566491
Abstract: An animating device is attached underneath a floating waterfowl decoy that creates rings, ripples, and waves on the water surface emanating from said decoy giving the appearance that said decoy is alive. In accordance with one embodiment of the device, a long, flexible plastic tube is attached or retrofit to the keel of an existing floating decoy. An apparatus, such as a motor driven pump, a pressurized air cylinder, or a hand- or foot-operated bellows air pump supplies air to the tube and a one-way check valve is provided in the end of tube attached to the decoy to prevent water from back-filling the long flexible plastic tube. Air forced through the long flexible plastic tube bubbles out underneath the decoy and the rising bubbles create rings, ripples, and waves on the water surface to give the appearance that the decoy is alive. In another embodiment, the tube is attached to flexible container mounted under the decoy.
