    Abstract: A method of sealably encapsulating an article by using, in combination, a plastics heating and pressurizing device and a manually portable accumulator. The device has a chamber to contain plastics material and heat it into a molten state. There is a releasable coupling means to assemble the device and container together to interconnect the chamber with a reservoir inside the accumulator for transfer of the molten plastic material into the reservoir. The accumulator has means for forcing the molten material from the reservoir into a mold cavity when the accumulator has been manually transferred from the device to a mold.

    Abstract: Hydraulic press including a frame with platens, at least one of which is carried or formed by a pressure plate structure adapted for transferring pressing force to an object between the platens, which press is adapted such that the pressure plate structure is substantially carried solely by horizontally adjustable supports mounted between the defining outer edges of such plate structure, such supports being positionally adjustable such that the surface of the corresponding platen assumes a predetermined shape during the pressing operation. The press suitably includes a mechanical mechanism for effecting the horizontal displacement in order to gain the desired positional adjustment of the supports.

    Abstract: An object is produced from a tubular blank (10,15,17) of thermoplastic material of polyester or polyamide, preferably of polyethylene terephthalate by reducing the thickness of amorphous material in one or several areas of the blank by means of one or several consecutive re-shaping operations. A mechanical shaping device (23,29,71,81) moves a transitional zone (13,14,113) situated between thicker and thinner material along the blank and simultaneously elongates the blank in the moving direction of the transitional zone while reducing the thickness. After the last re-shaping operation the thinner material preferably has an oriented state. During the re-shaping operation the temperature of the material in the transitional zone (13,14,113) is controlled at a level which, immediately before the re-shaping operation, is within or close to the range of the glass transition temperature (TG).

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for loading an array of articles into a front loading molding press. Two pairs of rails and two carriages are utilized to facilitate the various loading movements. The first or lower pair of rails is fixed and slidably mounts the first or lower carriage. The second or upper pair of rails is defined on the lower carriage and slidably mounts the upper carriage. A loading board is carried on the upper carriage and is mounted for up and down movement relative to the upper carriage. A predetermined array of loading heads are positioned on the underside of the loading board and a predetermined array of article holders are positioned between the forward portions of the lower pair of rails.

    Abstract: The mold halves of a blow mold device are mounted on a pair of arms encircling the mold halves in a semicircular arc which arms are latched together by latching means which are located at the parting line of the mold halves at both sides thereof. Due to this structure, merely the portion of the arms extending between said latching means is subjected to bending forces by the blowing pressure. For swinging the arms and actuating the latching means a common slide is provided in parallel relationship to the longitudinal axis of the blow mold, which slide includes a number of control cams which are engaged by cam followers cooperating with said arms and said latching means. The invention provides a compact and light-weight construction allowing to actuate a smaller mass in shorter time, thus increasing the production capacity of the blow mold device.

    Abstract: A mold comprising a core which is open at one end and has the negative contour of the workpiece and a sheet-metal outer container surrounding the core. High dimensional stability of the core, easy removability of the workpiece from the mold and a smoother surface of the workpiece are obtained by isostatic pressing of titanium powder in the spaces in the mold. The core consists, at least at its negative contour surface for the workpiece, of a high-temperature alloy, particularly one having a base of nickel or iron. This and the titanium powder material of the workpiece are neutral in chemical reaction and low in or free of diffusion with respect to each other upon the hot isostatic pressing. The core is in the form of a ring of segments surrounded by a solid holding ring.

The two portions have a common surface of junction disposed in a plane at an angle to the parallel end faces. The two portions are rotated together to orient the surface of junction in the direction of inclination of the punch, and the two portions are independently rotated the same amount in opposite directions as a function of the desired angle of inclination of the punch.

    Abstract: A positive pressure dough divider comprising a hopper (14) for dough, and a pair of rotatable sheeting rolls (15) which carry the dough from said hopper (14) into a transfer passage (16) leading to a volumetric measuring chamber (28) inside a rotating body (27) which is adapted to stop or rotate for periods at reduced speed, such that, while the measuring chamber (28) is being charged with dough from the said rolls (15), a maximum possible charging time is provided, and to move at greater speeds at other times to provide minimum possible delay between charging operations. The rolls (15) are of sufficiently large diameter, and rotate in opposite directions at such a speed, as to produce or maintain a dough of good gas retaining properties while providing a positive pressure rise along the direction of flow in the passage between the rolls sufficient to charge the measuring chamber or chambers.

    Abstract: A staple-fiber band is made by first spinning synthetic-resin filaments with spinnerets and drawing the filaments as roving at a predetermined feed speed from the spinnerets. The roving is then cooled without greatly stretching it so it has relatively high residual stretch and is then stored. Without intermediate treatment the roving is heated to a predetermined temperature and then stretched it to a relatively small residual stretch. The stretched roving is then thermofixed and then stretch-torn. Finally it is textured. During the heating, thermofixing, stretch-tearing, and texturing steps the roving is held under tension so that its filaments cannot tangle. When the filaments are of polyester they are stretched at between 60.degree. C. and 120.degree. C. and thermofixed at a temperature that can be somewhat higher.
