  • Patent number: 5348265
Abstract: This invention consists of a parent structure and a stabilized supported secondary structure with one or more supporting pressurized gas cushions disposed between them. Selective control of pressures in the supporting pressurized gas cushions insures that the secondary structure is maintained in a desired orientation regardless of the orientation of the parent structure. This particularly attractive for stabilization of passenger cabins in boats but is also applicable of trains, airplanes, and even non-vehicular applications where there is tilting or other movement of the parent structure. An attractive application is to gas cushion supported marine craft since such craft already have a gas pressurization system in place. A pressure regulating device controls pressures in the supporting gas cushions.

  • Patent number: 5342008
Abstract: Brackets (30, 40) are mounted to respective sides of a hinged step ladder by spaced apart divergent channel forming means (31, 32) on each bracket fitting onto respective swing apart limbs (14, 16) of the erect ladder. The brackets (30, 40) each include a support portion (36), extending beyond one of the channel forming means (32), both to the same side of the ladder, onto which a tray or the like (50) is secured by fastening means (41) so as to provide a stable platform for tool and materials at a convenient height for a user of the ladder. One of the channel forming means (32) may be pivotally adjustable. In an alternative embodiment (FIGS. 13 to 15) one of the channel forming means of each bracket is adjustable in position relative to the other so that the channels may be selectively disposed substantially parallel to each other to fit to a single limb of a ladder or divergent from each other for engagement around opened limbs of a hinged ladder.

  • Patent number: 5340077
Abstract: The present invention allows fishermen to easily stow the trolling motor and control housing while assuring that damage to the mounting bracket, the trolling motor, and the control housing is minimized. The lower arm of the mounting bracket is secured to the boat. The upper arm of the mounting bracket forms a cantilever that projects from a pivot point. Stress forces will most likely cause metal fatigue to occur on the flange called the "positive stow lock feature" near the pivot point. Shock to the positive stow lock feature is minimized by provision of a rubber-based leg to stabilize the upper arm of the mounting bracket. The suspension of the trolling motor and the control housing limits their downward travel. The bracket member is mounted within the column support bracket on the upper arm of the mounting bracket and is secured in place by an existing pivot pin. A bore on the top surface of the bracket member engages a bore on the top surface of a tubular member with the aid of a roll pin.
