  • Patent number: 4591329
Abstract: A vulcanizer and method for vulcanizing sheets of unvulcanized elastomeric material is presented in which the sheets are formed from generally rectangular small sections of unvulcanized material where the edges of the sections are tapered and mated together along their maximum dimension to form longitudinally extending seams within large sheets. The sheets are wrapped onto a series of concentrically assembled mandrels having different diameters, which serve as individual supports for the multiple wraps of sheet material. Each mandrel is received within the mandrel of the next larger diameter and is supported within the vulcanizing chamber by self-supporting mounting devices or carriage.

  • Patent number: 4589838
Abstract: Improvements in the mold opening and closing actuator mechanism in a multiple station, multiple clamp assembly rotary blow molding machine for the manufacture of plastic bottles and the like and improvements in the automatic unloader mechanism for the machine. In a rotary machine having an even number of stations and clamp assemblies rotatably indexable from station to station, the clamp assemblies are closed and opened by rotatable cranks and toggle mechanisms. Adjacent clamp assemblies are opened and closed by rotating the respective cranks in opposite directions for either the closing or the opening movements of the clamp assemblies. Rotary actuators at the mold closing and mold opening stations rotate 180.degree. to actuate the clamp assemblies. By providing the above opposite rotational actuation of adjacent clamp assemblies the need to reverse or retract the rotary actuators during indexing of the clamp assemblies is eliminated as is the time required to reverse or retract.

  • Patent number: 4589832
Abstract: The briquette making machine comprises a waste-receiving bin (11), one wall of which is defined by a plate (12) to sweep waste towards a guillotine (15) forming another wall of the bin (11). The guillotine (15) comprises a blade portion (19) to shear any waste straddling the bin and a compression chamber defined by the blade portion (19) and a wall (17). With the guillotine (15) in its most downward position a piston (23) configured to conform to the cross-sectional shape of the compression chamber clears the compressed waste therefrom by further compressing it against and eventually through a constricted discharge opening. The opening is defined by wheels (25, 26) which longitudinally groove the emergent briquette. In a preferred embodiment, the guillotine (15) and the piston (23) are advanced and retracted by first and second double-acting hydraulic rams (respectively 9 and 23, 24). There is a third ram (27) holding one (26) of the wheels against the emergent briquette. The hydraulic circuitry (FIG.

  • Patent number: 4588544
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for producing concrete articles, such as shaft rings, with projecting elements such as climbing irons or stirrups, by means of an automatic inserting mechanism which removes the climbing irons from a magazine and automatically inserts them into a mold core. These climbing elements are guided automatically to a core segment and are brought into housings therein during a time interval between the ejection of a completed concrete article from the mold cavity in a first working cycle and the next following work cycle in timed overlap with carried out work steps during this time interval. This automatic process takes place while the operator withdraws and takes away a completed article from the machine at the end of a work cycle and prepares the machine for the next work cycle. This leads to equally short machine cycle times for completion of concrete articles with or without climbing elements.

  • Patent number: 4588158
Abstract: A single-piece, injection molded rack for holding test tubes or similar articles and a mold for producing the same. In a preferred three-tiered form, the intermediate tier is a lattice defined by the intersection of two superposed sets of parallel bars. These two sets of bars are formed by two pairs of correspondingly channeled slides that cooperatively engage to form a portion of the mold cavity corresponding to the lattice. The channels in each set of slides are aligned with the path of movement of the slides to permit their sliding, uniaxial movement relative to the molded bars. To further enable this sliding movement between mold segments and the molded rack, the connecting supports between the top tier and the intermediate tier are provided on the sides of the rack, while the connecting supports between the intermediate tier and the bottom tier are provided on the front and rear of the rack.

  • Patent number: 4586888
Abstract: Rotary molding apparatus particularly for use with "soft"-type baking doughs and like media includes, in combination with a rotary die roll which carries molding cavities in its outer surface, a feed roll for forcibly filling the molding cavities with media from a supply hopper, and media-trapping retention means disposed adjacent the die roll between the feed roll and a take-off conveyor which receives the molded media from the cavities and conveys the shaped media away for further processing. The media-trapping retention means keeps the shaped "soft" media within the molded cavities as the die roll rotates toward the take-off conveyor, and the take-off conveyor preferably is disposed in complementary wrapping engagement with and along at least the lower extremities of the die roll. In its most preferred form the media-trapping retention means includes a shoe with a curved face which is resiliently biased against and in sliding contact with the outer surface of the die roll.
