    Abstract: An apparatus in which the concentration of toner particles used to form a highlight color document is controlled. The percentage of the document arranged to have highlight color portions thereon is determined and a first signal corresponding thereto generated. A second signal corresponding to the rate of toner particle usage per document is transmitted. A third signal corresponding to the total number of documents being reproduced is produced. The first, second and third signals are multiplied to generate a control signal corresponding to the required dispense rate for the toner particles forming the highlight color portions of the document.

    Abstract: A document illuminating apparatus includes a reflecting plate which reflects the light from a rod-shaped illuminating lamp before it is incident on a document disposed on a document table. The reflecting area of the reflecting plate is varied in the longitudinal direction thereof in such a manner that the side of the reflecting plate on which the distance between the document and an optical path changing mirror is relatively great has a larger reflecting area than that of the side of the reflecting plate on which said distance is relatively short. Accordingly, the illuminance of the reflected light from the document which is incident on the optical path changing mirror is made uniform along the longitudinal axis of the illuminating lamp.

    Abstract: Mechanism for effecting pressure engagement between two roll fuser members used for fusing toner images to copy substrates. The mechanism is characterized by simplicity of design and serviceability. To this end, one of two roll fuser members is supported on bearing surfaces such that it is lifted or raised upwardly through engagement with the other fuser member as it is moved upwardly. Upward movement of the last mentioned roll is effected by pair of lever arms which serve as the support for that roll. Each lever arm is operatively attached to an overcenter toggle structure which is actuatable either by rotary or linear motion of an actuator mechanism.An adjustment device is provided for varying the load applied to the rolls.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises four developing units for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum, and a revolving unit for revolving the developing units in parallel relation and selecting one of the developing units for use by stopping to revolve the developing units at a predetermined position. The four developing units are stored individually with developing agents of different types. The revolving unit is supported by a rockable suspension member at a distance from the center of rocking of the member, and can swing toward and away from the drum. The revolving unit is moved toward and away from the drum by a shifting mechanism. A locating member is attached to each developing unit, while a locating pin is provided on a housing of the apparatus. When the revolving unit is brought close to the drum by the shifting mechanism, the relative positions of the drum and the developing unit selected by the revolving unit are determined.

    Abstract: A color copying machine includes scanning device for applying illumination onto a color original to effect a scanning operation. A color separator includes a plurality of optical filters of different colors, each of the filters allowing a predetermined light component of the illumination to pass therethrough during each scanning operation so as to apply it onto a photoconductive drum charged uniformly to form an electrostatic image thereon. Color toner is applied to each of the electrostatic images during the rotation of the photoconductive drum. The toner image on the photoconductive drum is transferred to a record sheet on a transfer drum. Two sensors are provided for sensing the initiation of each scanning operation and the position of the record sheet on the transfer drum. A control circuit detects, in response to the outputs of the two sensors, start and end timings of the transferring of each of the toner images onto the record sheet.
