Patent number: 4453150Abstract: This induction winding includes a magnetic core formed by a vertical stack of iron disks separated by air gaps. The disks (8) include a plurality of sector-shaped portions (1) each of which is constituted by a succession of magnetic laminations (6), a first part (12,13) of these laminations are all of identical length and a second part (14) are of regularly decreasing length from one lamination to the next. The direction (F.sub.1) in which the laminations are rolled in the mill is perpendicular to the axis (7) of the winding. The increased magnetic loss that this causes is compensated by the improved filling coefficient that can then be readily obtained.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1981Date of Patent: June 5, 1984Assignee: Alsthom-AtlantiqueInventors: Gerard Messe, Michel Faure, Marcel Ducombs

Patent number: 4449012Abstract: In known overhead telephone cables comprising two individual encased and stranded conductors, each consisting of a plurality of copper wires for the transmission of signals, and steel wires for load bearing purposes, the problem of relatively high susceptibility to corrosion at leakage points in the casing due to water penetration is solved by replacing the steel wires with bundles of stretch-resistant synthetic fibres, e.g. aromatic polyamide fibres, and the tendency of spirally wound synthetic fibres, or bundles of fibres, to shift towards the center of the conductor when the cable is under tension, and thus allow the cable to elongate is prevented by arranging the copper wires and bundles of fibres so that they position themselves mutually. The coherency of the bundles of fibres required for this purpose may be obtained, for example, by stranding or twisting the fibres in the bundle or impregnating the bundle with a resin, preferably colophony.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1981Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: Kupferdraht-Isolierwerk AG WildeggInventor: Othmar Voser

Patent number: 4447682Abstract: A shield mechanism for isolating line and load stabs within a 2500-4000 ampere circuit breaker compartment is disclosed having a primary operating arm for operating a lower moveable shield and an upper moveable shield interconnected by a reversing bell crank link. Interconnection between the bell crank link and an intermediate lever is made by means of a lower expansion link. The corresponding downward motion fo the lower expansion link, when the circuit breaker is inserted in the compartment, forces the upper moveable shield to pivot into an open clockwise direction by connection between the upper moveable shield, the bell crank link and an upper expansion link against the force exerted by a return spring. Direct connection between the lower moveable shield and the intermediate lever forces the lower moveable shield into an open counterclockwise direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1982Date of Patent: May 8, 1984Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Roger N.
