Abstract: An apparatus for remote detection of plant growth dynamics is described. The apparatus includes an excitation LED (light emitting diode) module, a detection module and a controller module coupled to the excitation LED module and the detection module. The excitation LED module includes at least one LED. Each LED is configured to emit an excitation light in response to an excitation control signal. The excitation light has an emitted light spectrum. The detection module includes a photodetector configured to detect an initial chlorophyll a fluorescence (“ChlF”) light and an excited ChlF light from a plant species. The photodetector is further configured to convert the detected initial ChlF light into an initial detection electrical signal and the detected excited ChlF light into an excited detection electrical signal. The excited ChlF light is emitted from the plant species in response to receiving the excitation light.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a solid-state image pickup apparatus, a correction method, and an electronic apparatus, enabled to suppress an apparent uncomfortable feeling of an image output from a solid-state image pickup apparatus in which pixels of different OCL shapes are mounted mixedly. A solid-state image pickup apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a pixel array in which a first pixel in which an OCL (On Chip Lens) of a standard size is formed and a second pixel in which an OCL of a size different from the standard size is formed are present mixedly, and a correction section that corrects a pixel value of the first pixel that is positioned in the vicinity of the second pixel among the first pixels on the pixel array. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, a CMOS image sensor.

Abstract: A method for operating a brake system. A brake request signal characterizing a brake request is generated by actuating a positioner system of an actuating circuit, and a setpoint brake pressure required in an active circuit is ascertained based on the brake request signal. An actual brake pressure is set in the active circuit according to the setpoint brake pressure using a pressure generation device by moving a displacement piston using an electric motor to actuate a wheel brake coupled with the active circuit. Under the condition that the brake request signal is constant over a predefined period of time, a pressure modulation is carried out, which includes setting the actual brake pressure in the active circuit to a value that is greater than the setpoint brake pressure, and lowering the actual brake pressure by moving the displacement piston using the electric motor until the setpoint brake pressure is reached.

Abstract: An industrial gas spring with a pressure chamber in a casing with an end wall, a piston rod received at least in part in the casing for reciprocation between extended and retracted positions and a pressure relief assembly carried by the end wall. The pressure relief assembly may have a membrane communicating with the pressure chamber and a plunger configured to breach the membrane when engaged and moved by the piston rod when it overtravels its design intended retracted position.
Abstract: A testing method includes the steps of: (1) providing a negative pressure generator; (2) generating a negative pressure in a fluid passageway and a chamber which are in fluid communication with a guiding section of a fluid reservoir wherein a second sensing element is affixed to a guiding section of the fluid reservoir; (3) transferring a fluid flow stream from the guiding section to the chamber via the fluid passageway and drawing a float having a first sensing element from an upper position to a lower position within the guiding section; (4) generating a signal via the first and second sensing elements as the float moves relative to the second sensing element within the guiding section; and (5) transmitting a signal to at least one of a control unit or a graphical user display.

Abstract: A remote detection method, node, and system is described. The detector includes a wireless communications module that wirelessly transmits the detection message to a remote sensing device. The remote sensing device includes a camera having a field of view and wirelessly communicates with the detector. The remote illumination and detection method performs preliminary filtering of captured image data to determine images/frames of interest with a computer vision module on board a processor in the node. The images of interest are then transmitted to a cloud computing component via a wireless or cellular network for detailed analysis to determine the presence or absence of motion or an object in each image of interest. The cloud computing component may employ machine learning computations that time and energy intensive, such as convolutional neural networks.
Abstract: A damper device that suppresses arc discharge between electrodes generated by bubbles in an electro-rheological fluid, includes an inner tube housed in an outer tube forming an outer shell of a damper device. An electrode tube is arranged between the outer tube and the inner tube. An electro-rheological fluid is sealed in the outer tube. The inner tube and the electrode tube constitute a cathode and an anode, respectively, and apply a voltage to the electro-rheological fluid located between the inner tube and the electrode tube. An insulating layer is provided on a surface of the electrode tube on a side facing the inner tube or on a surface of the inner tube on a side facing the electrode tube. When a maximum voltage applied to the electro-rheological fluid is Vmax (V), a thickness t (m) of the insulating layer is set to satisfy Formula (1).
Abstract: A brake system for actuating a pair of front wheel brakes and a pair of rear wheel brakes is selectively operable during a manual push-through mode. A primary power transmission unit actuates at least one of wheel brakes in a normal braking mode. A secondary power transmission unit actuates the front wheel brakes in a backup braking mode. A primary electronic control unit controls at least one of the primary power transmission unit and a pair of rear brake motors. A secondary electronic control unit controls at least one of the secondary power transmission unit and the rear brake motors. An ABS modulator arrangement is hydraulically interposed between at least one of first and second three-way valves and at least a selected wheel brake. A multiplex control valve arrangement is hydraulically interposed between the secondary power transmission unit and the front wheel brakes.
