  • Patent number: 10192423
Abstract: A fault detection device, adapted to an electronic device having a display screen, including a first warning unit, a second warning unit, a first sensor and a microprocessor. The first sensor is arranged in front of the display screen, and obtains and outputs a first current brightness value every first predetermined period of time. The microprocessor is coupled to the first warning unit, the second warning unit, and the first sensor, and compares the first current brightness value with a first previous brightness value. When the first current brightness value is equal to the first previous brightness value, the microprocessor enables the first warning unit to generate a first warning signal. When the first current brightness value is equal to the first previous brightness value for more than a second predetermined period of time, the microprocessor enables the second warning unit to generate a second warning signal.

  • Patent number: 10160457
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring vehicle occupants using infrared and other sensors are disclosed. The systems may use infrared sensor data to identify each vehicle occupant using biometric signatures (such as heartbeat or facial recognition). Vehicle occupant characteristics may be determined that include skeletal characteristics of the occupants. Further monitoring of the occupants using sensor data may occur until an abnormal situation is detected. Abnormal situations may include medical emergencies, driver impairment, security threats, or similar situations requiring correcting action. The system may then determine and implement an appropriate response to the abnormal situation. Such responses may include generating alerts, adjusting vehicle environmental controls, taking control of operation of the vehicle (such as an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle), or initiating wireless communication with an outside party, such as an emergency service.

  • Patent number: 10165430
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing alerts to end users of networked enabled portable devices are provided so that the end users are made aware when broadcast emergency alerts are issued. The systems and methods provide a way for a portable device to receive information about an emergency alert broadcast of which the user should be aware, e.g., from the EAS, and to notify the user of the emergency alert. A flag provides an indication the EAS should be on and the systems and method override the settings made by a user to a portable device to enable EAS reception. The user may then be automatically taken to the emergency alert information by having the portable device automatically tune to the emergency broadcast information, or the user may optionally retrieve the emergency information by tuning to the emergency broadcast channel, or the user may otherwise be presented with a reference to the emergency data (e.g., a link to the information).

  • Patent number: 10140835
Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing device receives vector data from a plurality of vector-identifying sensors distributed across an area associated with the computing device. The computing device may then determine an amount of vectors within the area based on the vector data, and compares the amount of vectors to a threshold associated with the area. In response to the amount being greater than the threshold, the computing device may then trigger a remediation alarm, accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10089840
Abstract: Methods and apparatus organize a plurality of haptic output variations into a cohesive semantic framework that uses various information about the alert condition and trigger, application context, and other conditions to provide a system of haptic outputs that share characteristics between related events. In some embodiments, an event class or application class provides the basis for a corresponding haptic output. In some embodiments, whether an alert-salience setting is on provides the basis for adding an increased salience haptic output to the standard haptic output for the alert. In some embodiments, consistent haptics provide for branding of the associated application class, application, and/or context.

  • Patent number: 10083589
Abstract: The monitoring of protective glasses in laser machining heads, which are exposed to dust, sputtering and/or soiling, with the aim of predicting the contamination of the protective glass by way of determination of its absorption rate by means of temperature monitoring. The absorption rate is determined during laser processing by using a time-resolved temperature profile of the protective glass. Either, a difference of temporal temperature gradients being present before and after switching the working laser or an amplitude arising in a frequency spectrum of the temperature profile at the switching frequency of the laser is evaluated. Upon exceeding predetermined threshold values warning and error signals, respectively, are triggered.
