  • Patent number: 10431056
Abstract: A tactile or haptic guidance device incorporates a LIDAR assembly and servo motor assembly or linear actuators to provide tactile feedback to the user. The LIDAR assembly determines obstacles in the path of the user and the micro-controller uses the LIDAR data to send a signal to the servo motor assembly or linear actuators, which will cause translational or rotational movement along one or more axes with appropriate amounts of force to provide tactile feedback to the user about objects in their path.

  • Patent number: 10417879
Abstract: Methods and apparatus organize a plurality of haptic output variations into a cohesive semantic framework that uses various information about the alert condition and trigger, application context, and other conditions to provide a system of haptic outputs that share characteristics between related events. In some embodiments, an event class or application class provides the basis for a corresponding haptic output. In some embodiments, whether an alert-salience setting is on provides the basis for adding an increased salience haptic output to the standard haptic output for the alert. In some embodiments, consistent haptics provide for branding of the associated application class, application, and/or context.

  • Patent number: 10377378
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining whether a vehicle should continue through an intersection. For example, the one or more of the vehicle's computers may identify a time when the traffic signal light will turn from yellow to red. The one or more computers may also estimate a location of a vehicle at the time when the traffic signal light will turn from yellow to red. A starting point of the intersection may be identified. Based on whether the estimated location of the vehicle is at least a threshold distance past the starting point at the time when the traffic signal light will turn from yellow to red, the computers can determine whether the vehicle should continue through the intersection.

  • Patent number: 10347129
Abstract: A communication system for vehicles includes a first communication device disposed at a first vehicle and a second communication device disposed at a second vehicle. The first communication device wirelessly transmitting data indicative of a predicted path of travel of the first vehicle, and the second communication device receives the transmitted data from the first communication device. A control of the second vehicle processes data received from the first communication device and data indicative of a predicted path of travel of the second vehicle to determine a potential collision between the first vehicle and the second vehicle during a turning maneuver of one of the first and second vehicles toward the other of the first and second vehicles. Responsive to determination of a likelihood of collision between the first vehicle and the second vehicle, the control generates an alert to a driver of the second vehicle.
