Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and apparatus for the modulation of an acoustic field for providing tactile sensations. A method of creating haptic feedback using ultrasound is provided. The method comprises the steps of generating a plurality of ultrasound waves with a common focal point using a phased array of ultrasound transducers, the common focal point being a haptic feedback point, and modulating the generation of the ultrasound waves using a waveform selected to produce little or no audible sound at the haptic feedback point.

Abstract: A tactile or haptic guidance device incorporates a LIDAR assembly and servo motor assembly or linear actuators to provide tactile feedback to the user. The LIDAR assembly determines obstacles in the path of the user and the micro-controller uses the LIDAR data to send a signal to the servo motor assembly or linear actuators, which will cause translational or rotational movement along one or more axes with appropriate amounts of force to provide tactile feedback to the user about objects in their path.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus organize a plurality of haptic output variations into a cohesive semantic framework that uses various information about the alert condition and trigger, application context, and other conditions to provide a system of haptic outputs that share characteristics between related events. In some embodiments, an event class or application class provides the basis for a corresponding haptic output. In some embodiments, whether an alert-salience setting is on provides the basis for adding an increased salience haptic output to the standard haptic output for the alert. In some embodiments, consistent haptics provide for branding of the associated application class, application, and/or context.

Abstract: In a general aspect, detected motion is localized based on channel response characteristics. In some aspects, channel responses based on wireless signals transmitted through a space between wireless communication devices are obtained. A motion detection process is executed to detect motion of an object in the space based on the channel responses, and the channel responses are analyzed to identify a location of the detected motion within one of a plurality of regions within the space.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining whether a vehicle should continue through an intersection. For example, the one or more of the vehicle's computers may identify a time when the traffic signal light will turn from yellow to red. The one or more computers may also estimate a location of a vehicle at the time when the traffic signal light will turn from yellow to red. A starting point of the intersection may be identified. Based on whether the estimated location of the vehicle is at least a threshold distance past the starting point at the time when the traffic signal light will turn from yellow to red, the computers can determine whether the vehicle should continue through the intersection.

Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a vehicle warning light system for a vehicle having factory or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) lights. The system provides for inputs and outputs corresponding to the factory lights of the vehicle. The flasher system is configured such that the flasher system operates independently of the vehicle wherein that factory lights are independently controlled by the factory controls.
Abstract: In some embodiments, apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided herein useful to detecting a deviation in a person's activity. In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises one or more sensors, the one or more sensors configured to monitor parameters associated with a person and the person's home, and a control circuit, the control circuit communicatively coupled to the one or more sensors and configured to generate one or more partiality vectors for the person, receive, from the one or more sensors, values associated with the parameters, create, based on the values associated with the parameters, a spectral profile for the person, determine, based on the spectral profile and a routine base state for the person, that a combination of the values indicates a deviation, and update at least one of the one or more partiality vectors for the person.
Abstract: A smart watch having a display changing in color according to a state of a user, the smart watch includes: an output unit having a display unit; a sensor unit collecting state information for a measurement target associated with a user or around the user; and a control unit comparing the collected state information with state combination information stored in advance, selecting one piece of combination information that corresponds to the state information from among the state combination information, and controlling the output unit so as to output a displayed color matching the selected combination information.
Abstract: A passenger wake-up apparatus for use in a vehicle includes a detector configured to detect a state of a passenger and being capable of automated driving control or driving support control based on a result of detection by the detector. The passenger wake-up apparatus includes a rest on which the passenger can put a foot, and a driving unit configured to be able to move the rest. When determining that there is a decrease in a level of wakefulness of the passenger based on the result of the detection by the detector, the driving unit moves the rest to push the foot of the passenger, while the automated driving control or the driving support control of the vehicle is performed.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and a method for real time detection of the position and behavior of a plurality of animals which system comprises radio transmitter tags carried by the animals, where sensors receives signal from the tags, which system based of time delay of received signals at the sensors from the tags, perform calculation the position of the animals. It is the first object of the invention to achieve real time position of animal in a limited area. The object can be fulfilled by letting the system comprise a computer bases real time position calculation of the position of the animals, which system comprises a plurality of fixed reference radio transmitter tags, which system continuously based of received signal from the reference tags performs a calibration of the measured position of the animals.
Abstract: A communication system for vehicles includes a first communication device disposed at a first vehicle and a second communication device disposed at a second vehicle. The first communication device wirelessly transmitting data indicative of a predicted path of travel of the first vehicle, and the second communication device receives the transmitted data from the first communication device. A control of the second vehicle processes data received from the first communication device and data indicative of a predicted path of travel of the second vehicle to determine a potential collision between the first vehicle and the second vehicle during a turning maneuver of one of the first and second vehicles toward the other of the first and second vehicles. Responsive to determination of a likelihood of collision between the first vehicle and the second vehicle, the control generates an alert to a driver of the second vehicle.

Abstract: An embodiment of an intelligent personal device detachment sensor apparatus and system for a lanyard, belt clip, pocket clip, or other worn device for displaying a security device, such as an identification and/or card or badge on an individual user. The device is particularly useful for monitoring the presence of the card, badge or other small asset, with many of such assets employed at security, environmental clearance, and access checkpoints. The apparatus consists of two parts, a user holder and an asset holder, held to one another in a “docked” condition using a permanent magnet of the asset holder attachable to a permanent magnet on the user holder. The user holder has a switch (e.g., a mechanical switch), an alarm device to produce an audible signal to the user, and a transmitter that transmits an alert through a network.
Abstract: A person support apparatus, such as a bed, stretcher, cot, or the like, includes a fall detector. The fall detector is adapted to detect when a person associated with the person support apparatus has fallen and to issue a fall alarm. In some embodiments, the person support apparatus also includes an exit detection system that issues an exit alarm when the person exits from the person support apparatus. The fall alarm is given a higher priority than the exit alarm. The fall detector may include a camera, a thermal image sensor, a device worn by the person, or another sensor.
