  • Patent number: 11323574
Abstract: A first separation distance is determined between a first pair of defects in a scanned image of a first printed sheet, and a second separation distance is determined between a second pair of defects in a scanned image of a second printed sheet. The defects are determined as having a separation distance in that the first and second separation distances are each within a first threshold of a specified separation distance and/or a difference between the first and second separation distances is below a second threshold. A source of the defects can be determined based on the characteristic separation distance.

  • Patent number: 11283964
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for utilizing intelligent sectioning and selective document reflow for section-based printing. For example, the disclosed systems can intelligently identify document objects (e.g., document structures and sections) within a digital document by utilizing a machine-learning model. In so doing, the disclosed systems can identify document-object types and document-object locations for the document objects in the digital document. In turn, the disclosed systems can provide, for display within a dynamic printing interface, selectable document sections comprising the identified document objects. In response to a user selection of one or more of the selectable document sections, the disclosed system can generate a modified digital document for printing by reflowing the identified document objects in accordance with the user selection.

  • Patent number: 11238276
Abstract: Described herein is a system for automatically capturing images. A device may execute an application on the device. In response to receiving a request for capturing an image of a document, the application may control the operation of the camera to contemporaneously and continuously capture image frames of an area within the field of view of a camera of the device. The field of view may include an object and in turn may be included in the captured image frames. The application may determine whether the aspect ratio and real-world size of the object in the captured image frames corresponds with a specified threshold size and aspect ratio which corresponds with a given document type. In response to determining the object corresponds to the given document type, the camera may automatically extract an image of the object.

  • Patent number: 11232334
Abstract: A printing device includes a printing unit, a buffer, and a control unit. The control unit reads out data from the buffer as target data. When the read-out target data is a character code, the control unit determines whether the target data is a character code associated with a plurality of character forms or not. When the target data is the character code associated with the plurality of character forms, the control unit prefetches data stored in the buffer after the target data, as prefetched data, before printing the target data, and determines whether the prefetched data is a predetermined code or not. When the prefetched data is the predetermined code, the control unit selects a character form indicated by the predetermined code as a target character form and causes the printing unit to print a character represented by the target data, in the selected target character form.

  • Patent number: 11222248
Abstract: In some examples, luminance-biased sharpening for thermal media printing may include converting an input image to a grayscale luminance representation. For each pixel of a plurality of specified pixels of the converted input image, a sharpening lightness value may be determined. Further, a ratio of the sharpening lightness value to a corresponding original lightness value may be determined. A resulting sharpened pixel may be determined by applying a corresponding value of the determined ratio to each of the specified pixels. A dark correction factor may be applied to the resulting sharpened pixels that are darkened and a light correction factor may be applied to the resulting sharpened pixels that are lightened. Based on application of the dark correction factor and the light correction factor, a sharpened output image corresponding to the input image may be generated.
