Abstract: A system may include a data collector to collect data from at least one data source and to tag each group of collected data with a metadata tag. The metadata tag may include information about the collected data. The system may also include a metadata catalogue for containing a plurality of metadata tags and to allow a search for existence and a location on a network of any data corresponding to the search.

Abstract: An original deduplication file system (DFS) file is partitioned into a first set of sections being sections including data affected by rewrite operations and a second set of sections being sections including data unaffected by rewrite operations. A new DFS file to be stored as part of a plurality of user files is created, the plurality of user files including the original DFS file and being accessible by a sequential DFS and a dynamic non-DFS, the dynamic non-DFS including a plurality of dynamic metadata files having entries pointing to corresponding sections of the original DFS files. The first set of sections of the original DFS file including data affected by rewrite operations is directly written into the new DFS file. The second set of sections from the original DFS file including data unaffected by rewrite operations is quoted into the new DFS file. The original DFS file is deleted.

Abstract: An apparatus for collecting dump data collection receives an on demand data (ODD) dump request, pauses one or more scan loops, transfers dump data to an ODD dump buffer space, unpauses the scan loops, and offloads dump data from the ODD dump buffer space to the storage device. The apparatus may also prioritize dump data for transfer to the ODD dump buffer space, load balance dump data for transfer to the ODD dump buffer space, and schedule offloading of the dump data from the ODD dump buffer space to non-volatile storage.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and media are disclosed herein that can be embodied in a traditional Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) in order to transform it into a Streaming Relational Database Management System (SRDBMS). An SRDBMS may provide functionality such as to manage and populate streams, tables, and archived stream histories and support the evaluation of continuous queries on streams and tables. Both continuous and snapshot queries support the full spectrum of the industry standard, widely used, Structured Query Language. The present technology can support a high number of concurrent continuous queries using a scalable and efficient shared query evaluation scheme, support on-the-fly addition of continuous queries into a mechanism that implements the shared evaluation scheme, reuse RDBMS modules such as relational operators and expression evaluators, and visualize results of continuous queries in real time.

Abstract: A data processing system comprising: a constantly updating database of a plurality of processes having a plurality of operation times, relating to a plurality of applications, relating to at least one user activity, and using a plurality of computing resources; a monitor arranged to identify a plurality of clashes between the processes, a plurality of frustration events and to correlate between the frustration events and the clashes between the processes; a cause identifier arranged to identify, for each frustration event, a cause for the correlated clash of processes; a remedy generator arranged to generate, for each cause, a remedy arranged to solve the frustration event; a communication module arranged to provide the remedies to users in relation to respective user activities in view of their frustration events; and an analyzer arranged to monitor an efficacy of the remedies in respect to their corresponding frustration events.

Abstract: A system and method to improve storage efficiency in a warehouse. Storage combinations are assigned a ranking base on the distance from optimal storage. After sorting the data structure base on the ranking a best available storage combination can be identified by iterating the table in a rank order. In one embodiment, the ranking is used to identify candidates for rearrangement. By comparing the best available ranking with the current ranking, greater differences reflect greater benefit of rearrangement.

Abstract: A generalized input/output application programming interface (API) may provide an interface to file related operations. As a result of using this API, users of the array-based programming language may be able to manipulate stored data as though the data were a virtual array loaded into memory. Users do not need to memorize a different API in order to access data which may be stored in different file or data formats. In addition, using this API simplifies the task of working with large data sets by giving users seamless access to the sections of data they want to operate on when the entire data is too large to be loaded into memory.

Based on a status schema instance, the status of a data object node instance is monitored to determine whether the action is allowed to be performed by the data object node instance. In response to a determination that the action is allowed, enabling the action to be executed.

Abstract: Method optimally links humans and information using correlations that detect shared interests. It then uses the probabilistic pathways established by iterating over these links to optimally connect individuals to the information they are most interested in. In so doing, this invention leverages the collective assessments of individuals whose perspectives most closely match the observer's perspectives to dramatically improve the personalized prioritization of information flows, information discovery, navigation and the efficient dissemination of information. This invention is particularly useful in providing an objective method to organize and assess information based on human subjectivity. Since human subjectivity plays an important factor in accessing the importance of nearly all forms of information, it dramatically improves the efficiency of connecting humans to the information they personally find the most valuable.

Abstract: According to the present invention, techniques for performing security functions in computer storage subsystems in order to prevent illegal access by the host computers according to logical unit (LU) identity are provided. In representative embodiments management tables can be used to disclose the Logical Unit in the storage subsystem to the host computers in accordance with the users operational needs. In a specific embodiment, accessibility to a storage subsystem resource can be decided when an Inquiry Command is received, providing systems and apparatus wherein there is no further need to repeatedly determine accessibility for subsequent accesses to the Logical Unit. Many such embodiments can maintain relatively high performance, while providing robust security for each LU.

The memo data search method includes receiving an input of memo data, storing the memo data in the form of a bit stream, searching, when a search for the memo data is requested, a memo index database for the memo data, and displaying a search result. The handwritten memo data management method and apparatus stores and searches for the memo data regardless of orientation and size.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring records between database tables using a transaction log. In one embodiment of the method, a first application generates a transaction for deleting a record from a first table in a database. In response to the generation of the first transaction, a copy of the record is stored in an entry of a transaction log before the record is deleted from the first table. A second application generates an instruction for copying the record from the transaction log to a second table, and the record is copied from the entry to the second table.

Abstract: A method for searching a web service registry system by use of a search controller. A first search of a service registry program product is performed with a service name received by the search controller from a user. It is determined that the received service name does not have a service description associated with the received service name in the service registry program product. A second search of the service registry program product is coordinated with a candidate service name by use of the search module, wherein the candidate service name is semantically and syntactically interchangeable with the received service name such that the candidate service name identifies the service description associated with the received service name within the service registry program product. The service description is discovered to be associated with the candidate service name within the service registry program product and is subsequently returned to the user.

Abstract: A method for collaborative management of a process is disclosed herein. The method includes electronically creating a declaration document containing information relating to one or more characteristics of an equipment unit involved in effecting the process. The method further includes electronically creating, at least partially based upon the information contained within the declaration document, an instruction document prescribing changes in one or more operational parameters of the equipment unit. The declaration document may be created by an operator of the equipment unit and the instruction document may be created by a user entity having electronic access to the declaration document.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed in which locks for shared data are acquired by specifying a pathname for the shared data. One embodiment, among others, includes a method for locking shared data. The method includes the steps of receiving a first request to acquire a lock for a first pathname, storing the first pathname in a lock store, searching the lock store for a corresponding pathname in response to a further request to acquire a lock for a second pathname, and if the second pathname corresponds to the first pathname in the lock store then denying the further request to acquire the lock for the second pathname.
