  • Patent number: 10446922
Abstract: A broadband antenna assembly including a coaxial cable, a lower limit radiating element, a higher limit radiating element, and a flexible outer sheath encasing the components of the assembly. The lower limit radiating element has a diameter greater than a diameter of an outer jacket of the coaxial cable, allowing the lower limit radiating element to surround the coaxial cable. The dipole formed by the lower limit radiating element is approximately ? of the wavelength of the lower limit operating frequency. To capture higher frequencies, the higher limit radiating element includes a dipole that is approximately 30% shorter than that of the lower limit radiating element, allowing the antenna assembly to capture a wider bandwidth. By providing the radiating elements together with the coaxial cable, the antenna assembly removes the need for adapters and separately-connected component parts while providing a flexible outer sheath, improving mobile broadcasting applications.
