Abstract: In some aspects, what is disclosed relates to a processor-based payment method for transferring user-provided payment data through a router that parses the payment data and transfers the parsed data to a plurality of receivers in distinct locations, detecting the parsed data at each of the plurality of receivers, and originating an ACH debit against the user, or an e-check, based on the parsed data.
Abstract: An on-line market-place includes an auction wherein one or more predefined terms, qualities, incentives, or other such indicia (generally, “Program Terms”) are associated with the particular product and/or service which is the subject of the auction. Customers rank or otherwise designate their preference for the these Program Terms (e.g., by selecting a “Preferred Program Term”), and the system then partitions the customers into “pools” in accordance with the selected Program Terms Merchants then compete to obtain that pool of customers by bidding on the Preferred Program Term. Customers may be pooled according to demographic or other customer characteristics (“Characteristic Pooling”), or according to level of commitment to purchase (“Commitment Pooling”).
Abstract: A method of quantifying the value added by an internal company credit rating system is described. The method includes determining an internal company credit rating for each of a plurality of securities. The internal company credit rating for each of the plurality of securities and an external credit research agency original credit rating for each of the securities are inputted in a ratings history database. Data representative of a change of the external credit research agency original credit rating for at least one security of the plurality of securities to a new credit rating is received. Responsive to the change, data representative of a current price of the at least one security and a benchmark price of the at least one security is received. At least one metric is calculated to determine the number of times the internal company credit ratings for each of the plurality of securities was correct.

Abstract: An adaptive computerized system of assessing the taxability of goods or services sold at retail or wholesale. The system has the capability to conduct an analysis of all products and/or services sold by a retailer or wholesaler either offline or online and provide the seller with the ability to monitor the tax status, including tax rates, of any goods or services sold by the seller at the point of sale or online in any number of taxing jurisdictions. The system includes a master database which links uniform commodities code technology such as UPC to tax assessment information for goods and/or services sales transactions made by any number of merchants in potentially unlimited taxing jurisdictions. The system also automatically generates tax collection and remittance reports and submit such report and the tax payment to the appropriate taxing jurisdictions.

Abstract: A dynamically determined data-driven model for detecting fraudulent behavior is provided. An initial model is developed using historical data, such as demographic, psychographic, transactional, and environmental data, using data-driven discovery techniques, such as data mining, and may be validated using additional statistical techniques. The noise within the data models determine appropriate initial control points needed for the initial model. These initial control points define an ‘electronic fence,’ wherein data points within the fence represent acceptable behavior and data points outside the fence represent unacceptable behavior. Updated data is received. A fraud detection mechanism validates the updated data using data mining and statistical methods. The data model, or ‘electronic fence,’ is refined based on the newly acquired data. The process of refining and updating the data models is iterated until a set of limits is achieved.

Abstract: A method for processing payments is provided that includes receiving with at least one server data representative of a plurality of payments. For at least one of the payments, the at least one server causes data representative of at least one third party offer to be mailed to the payee associated with the payment along with a check for the payment amount of value associated with the payment. The method also includes receiving with the at least one server, data representative of an acceptance of the at least one third party offer. Responsive to the acceptance, the at least one server may cause: a gift certificate to be issued to the payee; value in the amount of the payment minus a service fee to be transferred to a merchant associated with the at least one third party offer; and to cause the check to be voided.
Abstract: A system and method are provided for displaying information related to a plurality of tradeable objects using a single graphical interface. One example graphical interface includes at least two screen regions displayed in relation to each other, with each region including a plurality of locations. Each location in the first screen region corresponds to a value along a first value axis, and each location in the second screen region corresponds to a value along a second value axis. The graphical interface also includes a first indicator in the first region and a second indicator in the second region. In response to a repositioning command based on an algorithm, the graphical interface includes a repositioned first value axis and the second value axis, such that the indicators are displayed in new locations determined based on the algorithm.

Abstract: An environmental impact information collection system modifies and analyzes environmental impact information, which is collected and stored in advance, and obtains the environmental impact at each process done in an organization, according to each product. The environmental impact information collection system then obtains a set of environmental impacts in a product's life cycle.
Abstract: A system and method are provided which dynamically adapts to a changing economic environment by selecting or synthesizing an economic model from a set of economic models based on the selected model's ability to make accurate predictions about an actual economic market. The method and system each forms a space of different economic models, forms a behavioral landscape by extracting observables from executions of the economic models, and performs model selection and composite model synthesis through optimization over the behavioral landscape.

Abstract: An episode classification system including a multitude of diagnosis records. Each of the diagnosis records includes diagnoses information, time of diagnoses information, and patient information. A patient grouper generates at least one patient group by grouping patient records having similar patient information. A diagnosis grouper generates at least one diagnosis group from a patient group by grouping patient records from a patient group that have similar diagnosis information. An episode analyzer includes a probability analyzer, an episode grouper, and a severity analyzer. The probability analyzer performs probability calculations capable of generating a probability value using at least two of the diagnosis records as input entries. The probability value represents the probability that the input entries belong to a single episode. The episode grouper groups diagnosis records determined to belong to a single episode.

Abstract: A system for providing an operator interface having a radar display comprises a memory and a processor. The memory stores trader designated requirements. The processor generates a radar display comprising a trader requirements block that corresponds to the trader designated requirements. The processor receives market data and performs the following for each trader designated requirement: determines a probability of the market data satisfying a trader designated requirement, and displays a market data circle on the radar display, where a distance between the market data circle and the trader requirements block indicates the probability.
Abstract: A system and method for visually establishing a trading strategy are described. According to one method, a trader can position a first icon corresponding to a first order and a second icon corresponding to a second order in relation to a first value axis displayed on a graphical interface. A graphical means can also be used in relation to the icons to show that the icons correspond to a trading strategy. The graphical means can include lines, numbers, or any other user-configurable graphical representation illustrating order precedence, for example.

Abstract: The present invention provides a digitally originated check (DOC) through an electronic payment system (EPS) which captures payor metadata instructions regarding the intended payment to a payee. The metadata is stored in a database or the like for further processing instead of printing a paper check. The DOC can be cleared either electronically or through a paper substitute check through Check 21 clearing methods. The present invention further provides a true check card operable to provide DOCs at point-of-sale terminals.

Abstract: A financial activity network includes a central managing system connected to a plurality of participant terminals. Rules governing operation of the financial activity are stored for future reference. A participant provides investment information such as a map location for the predicted strike by the natural event and, optionally, one or more secondary parameters relating to the natural event, such as the time interval between the time of investment and the time of an event strike and/or the severity of the event strike according to an established scale. In one example, an external objective independent information source is consulted, with the external objective independent information source providing monitoring, interpretation and derived determination of parameters pertaining to the natural event. Methods and articles of manufacture are also disclosed.
