Abstract: Insertable armrest frame and mounting structure is designed so that an upholstered, pivotable armrest can be easily attached to an upholstered seat back in such a manner that the mounting elements will be concealed. The mounting and support structure is quite light in weight but very strong due to use of either a channel shaped arm frame member or a molded frame member. The arm frame pivots on one pivot pin anchored to the seat back frame and, in the channel shaped version, includes a strengthening rib incorporating a cup-shaped portion having a curved flat rim which is slightly resiliently deformed by a flanged retaining nut on a stop pin which is also anchored in the seat back frame. The resilient deformation of the rim, which also takes place in the molded arm version, provides uniform tension which tends to hold the arm in any position to which it is rotated.
Abstract: A body support member for spacing a body above a supporting structure which comprises a sheet of resilient plastic material permanently deformed to produce downwardly disposed, laterally spaced, elongated protuberances distributed over a body support area for engaging the supporting surface, adjacent elongated protuberances being complementary in shape with each one having a plurality of reversed direction portions along its length, the reversed direction portions in adjacent protuberances being in overlapping relation in the plane of the body support area looking in the direction the elongated protuberances extend, whereby the body support area of the member will resist flexing along all lines traversing the body support area. Where desired, the resiliency of the plastic material of the body support member can be such that the reversed direction portions of the elongated protuberances incorporate an inherent spring-like action under the weight of a supported body to cushion the same.
Abstract: A child's car seat for sitting on the conventional seat of a vehicle and being retained therein by the vehicle safety belts, the car seat being moveable between a slumbering position and a sitting position by movement of a linkage system operated by a handle, whereby the linkage system incorporates an over center device so that the car seat is securely restrained in its two extreme positions.
Abstract: A collapsible tube holding bracket for retaining a tube vertically relative to a wall surface including a flat supporting plate adjustably and removably adhered to a wall surface and having a spring pressed clip for clamping the inverted lower end of a tube so that it depends therealong. An L-shaped apertured bracket is adjustably spacedly supported on the plate below the clip and receives the reduced dispensing tube neck therein to retain the tube vertically on and in engagement with the plate and enables the closure cap to be arranged thereon. With the cap removed and a brush disposed therebeneath, the application of hand pressure against the tube forces it against the plate and squeezes paste onto the brush.
Abstract: A combination bag holder and dolly characterized by the fact that the bag holder is adapted to grip the open end of a refuse bag by a simple movement of a portion of the bag holder frame; by being adaptable to refuse bags of varying sizes; by having the bag holder readily removable from the dolly for mounting on a stationary wall when there is no occasion for it to be mounted on the dolly; by the dolly being collapsible to a substantially flat configuration for ready storage; and by having the bag holder frame roughened or otherwise given a non-slip characteristic so as to more readily grip and hold the open end of the bag.
Abstract: A planar one-piece support member having a tab member adapted to be disposed outwardly from the plane of said support member to define a bifurcated structure which enables the support of portable furniture, such as table and chairs, said support member being provided with means to enable said support member to be releasably secured to said furniture in order to enable said support member to return to its original planar shape to facilitate portability.
Abstract: A demountable article as seating furniture, such as a chair or setter, which is easily transportable and compactly stackable when demounted and yet is an attractive piece of furniture when set up for use.
Abstract: A stock rack of the type used in tire plants for transporting tread forming blanks and wherein a plurality of trays are supported on end upright supports and one or more intermediate upright supports for swinging movement between a generally horizontal position and a raised position. Each tray has a plurality of axially aligned rolled rim sections along its rear edge, the rolled rim sections being dimensioned to extend between adjacent ones of the upright supports and having adjacent ends spaced apart to receive an intermediate upright support therebetween. The upright supports have hinge rod receiving openings at vertically spaced locations therealong and hinge rods extend through horizontally aligned ones of the hinge rod receiving openings in the upright end and intermediate supports and through the rolled rim sections on a respective one of the trays.
Abstract: An improved, one-piece, sheet metal fastener for threadably receiving and lockingly engaging an externally threaded fastener at relatively low clamping forces is provided. The improved fastener comprises a generally arcuate leg having members for engaging external threads formed therein. The arcuate leg, in the non-deformed position thereof, defines an arc section having a radius and a chord, the ratio of said radius to said chord being in the range of 1:1.4 to 1:1.8 and preferably in the range of 1:1.5 to 1:1.7.
Abstract: Outdoor furniture and the like comprising a plurality of seat elements having longitudinal recesses formed in the bottom thereof and transverse openings extending therethrough, the openings having an enlarged counterbore at the ends thereof in the sides of the seat elements, a plurality of back elements, each of the back elements having a longitudinal recess formed in the rear thereof and transverse openings extending therethrough, the transverse openings having enlarged counterbores at the ends thereof, a plurality of angled support members having one portion lying in the recess in the seat element and another portion lying in the recess in the corresponding back element, a spacer element having an axial bore therein positioned between adjacent seat elements and between adjacent back elements and lying in the counterbores in the respective elements, flexible tie rods extending through the openings in adjacent elements and through the spacer elements and the support member, and means for securing the tie rods
Abstract: A seat headrest for a vehicle includes a reinforcement means in communication with an energy shock absorbing means. The reinforcement means include a plurality of rectangular hollow segments. The segments of the reinforcement means cooperate with the energy absorbing means in the absorption of shock to the headrest.
Abstract: An adjustable reclining chair comprising a frame and a back-rest and squab hinged together, the back-rest pivotally mounted on the frame. A pair of cord members, one to each side of the squab, are attached at their ends to spaced locations on the frame, the cord members passing around stubs projecting laterally from the squab to suspend the latter from the frame. Friction between the cord members and stubs when a user sits in the chair prevents the chair reclining, but by reducing the weight on the squab, the friction is reduced and the degree of recline can be adjusted as desired.
Abstract: A vehicle seat is carried on a frame which is pivotably mounted on a base frame that is secured to the vehicle floor. The seat can pivot around an axis that is essentially horizontal and transverse to the vehicle direction of travel. There is provided at least one damping element for damping pivotations around said axis. In this way disturbing thrusts transferred to the back of a person via the back support portion of the seat are eliminated.
