Abstract: The transcribing work of a typist is facilitated by a reading aid in the form of a copyholder which has a holder cylinder of transparent material into which a copy to be transcribed is insertable. A support provides for rotatably locating the copyholder substantially in the typist's line of vision toward the keyboard and the typed line. The hollow cylinder is rotatable either by hand or by a motor driven gear mechanism for stepping the cylinder from line to line of the copy. The copy is insertable either at one open end of the cylinder or through a slot in the cylinder jacket.

Abstract: A musical pacifier comprising a mouthpiece having a single portion, a casing is secured to the mouthpiece for housing an electronic programmed circuit capable of generating signals to produce a musical tune. A sound generator is associated with the circuit to audibly reproduce the signals. A switch is provided to actuate the electronic programmed circuit.

Abstract: A hooked fabric fastener tape has on one surface of a foundation structure a number of material engaging hooks which have been produced from and by cutting one of loops of synthetic resin threads woven into the foundation structure. One of the hooks is larger in height than the other hook so as to provide a large opening between the respective end portions thereof for easy reception of cooperating loops of mating looped fabric fastener tape. The hooks of different height are reliably engageable with any of the cooperating loops fanned apart on the looped fabric fastener tape.

Abstract: The digital display apparatus comprises a board having one or more seven-element digital-type displays marked thereon. A flap is provided for each of the elements and is pivotable from a first position in which the associated element is exposed, to a second position in which it covers its associated element. Selective pivoting of the flaps enables each display to form any required digit.

Abstract: A fastener of the hold-down type provides for the insertion and extraction of modular units positioned on a shelf. The fastener has a slip clutch which operates to prevent the fastener from exceeding a predetermined load and a keeper member rotatable in either direction to alternately secure and release the fastener from a hook element on the modular unit.

The sign is easily set up at a property site with a desired number of stacked auxiliary sign sections containing various indicia. A convenient low effort driving tool for the ground penetrating main standard of the sign is included. The main sign panel is attachable to the realtor's automobile door through the same apertures which connect the main sign panel to the separable ground-mounted support structure.

Abstract: This apparatus is of the kind comprising a fixed frame 1 and a drum 5 having a vertical axis for rotation relative to and within the frame about a vertical axis, this drum comprising an internal cavity intended to receive the objects to be passed and accessible through an opening formed in the vertical wall of the drum, the apparatus also comprising means for stopping and locking the drum relative to the chassis in two diametrically opposite positions.According to the invention, these means for stopping and locking the drum relative to the frame comprise an abutment fixed to the end 12 of the drum and another abutment 17 fixed on the end 8 of the frame, and also an inclined leaf spring which can withdraw vertically out of the way when the stop of the drum passes, the gap e left between the end of the frame and the end of the drum corresponding practically to the vertical dimension of these abutments alone.The invention has particularly advantageous application in government offices, banks, etc.

Abstract: A display device for use on automobiles and the like which includes a bracket having a vertical bore extending therethrough for supporting a staff upon which a flag is carried. The bracket is attached to an automobile and the staff can be readily removed from the bracket for waving the flag by hand.

Abstract: Connectable picture frame units are disclosed. The picture frame units are in the form of a rectangular sheet of rigid material with a raised rim on the front encircling a space for a picture. A snap attachment ring snaps onto the raised rim and holds the picture in the frame unit. Raised pins are disposed on the back of the picture frame units and are received in assembly links in order to connect the picture frame units. The units can be connected in rectangular and diagonal fashion to form borders, frames, Christmas wreaths, multiple displays, and decorative swags for Christmas and other occasions.

Abstract: A slide fastener has a top end stop or stops dimensioned to be receivable within the interior of a slider having upper and lower shields connected together by a neck or diamond portion. This portion of the slider is recessed to receive a protuberance of the top end stop so as to reduce the resistance encountered upon starting movement of the slider in a direction to open the fastener.

Abstract: A separable slide fastener has a pair of warp-knit stringer tapes each with a series of longitudinal openings for easy attachment to a knit fabric. Each of the stringer tapes includes a reinforcing body mounted on a lower end portion thereof and including a thin member and an endmost thick member both extending transversely across some of the tape opening, the thin member covering at least the endmost opening and the endmost thick body having a transverse portion contiguous to the thin member in the longitudinal direction of the stringer tape and extending about a portion of the thin member and the lower end portion of the stringer tape. A separable bottom end stop is injection-molded on the thin reinforcement member bonded to the stringer tape so as to form integrally therewith the thick reinforcement member.

Abstract: A separable slide fastener has a pair of warp-knit stringer tapes each with a series of openings for easy attachment to a knit fabric. Each of the stringer tapes includes a reinforcement film bonded to a lower end portion thereof and having a recess which allows some of the tape openings to be exposed for use in attachment to the knit fabric. The recess may be covered with a thin layer penetratable by knitting needles. A separable bottom end stop is injection-molded on the reinforcement films bonded to the stringer tapes.

Abstract: A separable slide fastener comprises a pair of warp-knit stringer tapes each having a pair of webs with a wale-free region therebetween, which are interconnected by a connector thread extending across the wale-free region at longitudinal intervals, the wale-free region being receptive of a chain of thread loops for attaching the stringer tape to a fabric. A pair of rows of coupling elements is mounted on opposite longitudinal edges of the stringer tapes, respectively and taken into and out of interdigitating engagement by a slider movable along the rows of coupling elements. The stringer tapes have at one end thereof a separable bottom end stop. A reinforcement member is mounted on each of the stringer tapes at the one end thereof and connected to the separable bottom end stop.

Abstract: A device displaying a changeable image. The device includes a screen having a viewing plane, and platelets thereon. The platelets cast shadows of different sizes. The shadows, when viewed collectively, form images on the viewing plane. The platelets are made of a rigid opaque material and are attached immovably to the viewing plane, the platelets are disposed in parallel rows extending in two mutually perpendicular directions, each forming an angle of 45.degree. with the horizon. The platelets extending in the respective directions are different in both size and shape, such sizes and shapes being determined so as to form a different image in each direction by the shadows cast by the platelets.

Abstract: In a paperboard picture frame or the like support for holding picture or painting frames, or related type of items, a base member comprising a solid sheet of paperboard, or formed as a marginal member, has a series of corner straps depending from it, and which corner straps are sectionalized to provide for the fold over of each strap for embracing the proximate end of the supported frame, with one of the sections of the strap generally folding intermediate of the supported frame and the base member of the support, in order to secure the frame in place without necessitating the usage of any adhesive or other fastener. But, it may be that the final section of the corner strap may be adhesively secured to the underside of the base member to likewise provide for securement of the frame in place.

Abstract: An electrical circuit making identification plate is comprised of a transparent plastic material and is adapted to identify residential and industrial wiring circuits at the site of an electrical wall outlet box, by placement upon an electrical wall outlet box, between the electrical wall outlet box and the base plate of electrical receptacles in the outlet box. The flat transparent plate has an opening therein. The opening permits protrusion of electrical devices from an associated electrical wall box outlet to an electrical wall outlet box face cover plate. The flat transparent plate has notched openings which permit passage of screws from the receptacle base plate to the electrical wall outlet box. The transparent plate is held in place by tangs located on the associated electrical wall outlet box, and has adhesive attached thereto adapted to receive and secure an electrical circuit identification label.

Abstract: The cutting cylinder of a forage harvester is provided with a plurality of fragmenting bars interspersed between the circumferentially spaced apart knives of the cylinder. Each of the fragmenting bars has a generally radially outwardly projecting portion that terminates in an outermost, serrated margin located inwardly adjacent the extremity of the cylinder as defined by the cutting edges of the knives during rotation thereof. Such serrations of the bars present rasping teeth that abraid, fracture and fragment crop cuttings produced by the knives so as to provide more uniformly sized, finer crop fragments and cracked kernels for the production of high quality silage.

Abstract: A clamp for drilling tubulars such as drill pipes includes a jaw which defines a cylindrical recess. A cylindrical insert is rotatably mounted within the recess. This insert defines a cylindrically symmetrical toothed surface positioned to grip and frictionally engage the clamped tubular, and a cylindrically convex positioning surface configured to cooperate with the cylindrical recess to hold the insert in place in the jaw. The insert is mounted in the jaw so as to rotate freely within a selected range of rotational positions in order to allow the insert to orient itself as necessary to maximize the area of contact between the insert and the clamped tubular over a range of tubular diameters. The insert is reversible in the recess so as to allow the insert to be positioned in the jaw as necessary to maximize frictional engagement with the clamped tubular in a selected direction of rotation.
