  • Patent number: 5581931
Abstract: A braced handle of high rigidity and light weight includes an auxiliary hand grip, a frame and removable attachment by cinctures spaced apart linearly along a casting rod forward of the reel. The frame possesses a rearward portion, an upper medial portion and a forward portion. The rearward frame portion extends upward from the rod forward of the reel with a small inclination forward from normal to the length of the rod about which a resilient hand grip may be located. The upper medial portion rigidly connects the upper end of the rearward frame portion with the upper end of the forward frame portion which extends upwardly from the rod. The frame may further possess a lower portion parallel to and flush with the rod extending from said rearward and forward frame portions. Attachment of the handle to the rod may be made along this lower portion or simply at the lower ends of the rearward and forward portions of the frame.

  • Patent number: 5579822
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the production of cast cylinder heads made of aluminium alloys from at least two different "liquid" alloys. The liquid alloys at the time of casting may contain solid particles of varied size and shape so as to produce composites with a metal matrix after solidifying. The process for moulding composite cylinder heads includes a number of successive layers consisting of at least two different alloys and consists in casting each alloy layer in the cavity of a mould via a feed system with a waiting time between the end of casting of one layer and the beginning of the second layer, so that the first layer contains between 50 and 100% of solid fraction in its lower part and 0 to 80% of solid fraction in the upper part, the interface region, when the second alloy is introduced.

  • Patent number: 5575104
Abstract: A fishing line accessory comprises at least two partial housing parts which are adapted to be mated together to form a hollow housing. The housing receives a rattle member and means is provided by which the accessory can be received on a fishing line. More particularly a member is moulded from plastics with two partial housings connected by a web. One partial housing carries projection means and the other carries complimentary housing means. There is relieving in the connecting web. In one embodiment, the relieving corresponds with a line of weakness permitting hinging together of the two partial housings to form a single hollow housing. The relieving forms a recess to accommodate the fishing line. In another embodiment two of said members are engaged together to form two hollow housings and the relieving in the respective webs form a recess to receive the line.

  • Patent number: 5575105
Abstract: A cellulose-containing member is provided with a plurality of holes transversely extending therethrough. An emitting element and a receiving element are located at opposite ends, respectively, of each of the holes. The presence or absence of termites is detected by the obstruction of an output wave from the emitting element caused by termites invading the holes, whereupon a detection signal is generated to cause alarm lamps and so on to light up for alarm display. Simultaneously, in order to estimate the number of invading termites, the number of occurences of an obstruction by the termites of the output waves from the emitting elements is counted.

  • Patent number: 5570736
Abstract: A process for continuously casting steel slabs employing a molten steel containing an oxygen concentration of 30 ppm or less, preferably, 20 ppm or less, using a straight immersion nozzle to which an inert gas is not injected, and disposing a static magnetic field generator on the back surface of the mold for applying the strong static magnetic field to the molten steel within the mold, thereby restricting the flow of the molten steel. With this process, it is possible to prevent the nozzle blocking, and hence to obtain the steel slabs excellent in the internal and surface qualities.

  • Patent number: 5570531
Abstract: A decoy has a body, a head and neck, and a flexible connector interposed between the body and the head and neck. In one embodiment, a base is joined to the decoy body. One end of the flexible connector is inserted into the base, and a second end is inserted into the head and neck. The connector bends under wind forces acting on the head and neck and thereby imparts movements of the head and neck relative to the body. The flexible connector can be inserted at different depths into the head and neck to suit different wind conditions. In an alternate embodiment, the flexible connector is generally L-shaped, having a first end fastened directly to the decoy body and a second leg that is inserted into the head and neck.

  • Patent number: 5564213
Abstract: An ice fishing rig has a rigid elongated central housing to span a hole in the ice and lateral side edges to which fold-up panels are attached. The panels, which are preferably flexible, can be folded from a position in which they extend laterally outwardly from the central housing to a position where they are folded up underneath the central housing to form a compact unit for transportation and storage. When the rig is to be used, the side panels are folded out to their laterally extending position, and a spool assembly is rotated from a position in which it is aligned with and covered by the central housing to a position in which is perpendicular to the central housing. The rigid central housing spans the hole in the ice to support the rig while the laterally extending panels cover the hole to help inhibit freezing of the hole and to block sunlight from entering the hole.
