  • Patent number: 5501030
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for conveniently holding or storing snelled hooks which does not utilize mechanical means of any kind. The device of the present invention consists of an elongated, substantially tubular shaped member, the interior of which is subdivided into a plurality of individual hollow compartments, each of which are of a size to accommodate a leader of a snelled hook and, in the preferred embodiment, the point of at least one snelled hook. In practice, the user of the device of the present invention will insert a fish hook's leader into an inner tubular compartment and the points of the hook into the ends of nearby tubular compartment. The ends of the holder can be covered to thereby store a snelled hook therein.

  • Patent number: 5501027
Abstract: A fishing rod alert device having an alarm signal generator, and a telescoping stake to anchor the device to the ground. The alarm signal generator has a trip bar that supports the rod near its tip. The trip bar is pivoted and spring biased. When a fish strikes the lure the trip bar is caused to pivot. After the strike the trip bar rebounds and impinges on a switch to activate the alarm signal generator, thus producing an audible and/or visual alarm signal. The sensitivity of the alarm signal generator can be adjusted by moving the pivot point of the trip bar relative to the switch.

  • Patent number: 5501026
Abstract: The automated closing of the opening of a hand-held net. The hand-held net is operatable underwater, and specifically in saltwater. A mechanism, contained in an elongated handle, causes retraction of a predetermined section of a draw line to within the handle. The handle has pivotally attached a hoop, the hoop having attached a net. The draw line engages circumferentially the net at a location parallel to, and spaced from, the hoop. Once retraction of the draw line is activated the locations of connection of the draw line are gathered into close proximity together. This location being generally to the center of the hoop. Once retracted to this position, the net is effectively closed, preventing exit of anything contained therein through the hoop. The closed netting device is returned to an expanded position in a controlled manner by the operator by enabling a desired length of the draw line to be removed from the handle in user defined increments.

  • Patent number: 5490349
Abstract: An insect trap contains a liquid insect attractant which is fully enclosed so that the trap may be shipped without spillage or loss. The trap includes an enclosure which provides a funnel shaped portion terminating in a substantially translucent nipple. The insect trap may be commissioned into service by piercing the nipple thereby creating an inlet into the interior chamber through which insects will be drawn by the liquid attractant. The nipple is formed by a thermal process so that the walls of the inlet are drawn thin creating translucent walls which form a bright spot of light larger than the inlet's opening, thereby making it difficult for trapped insects to find the opening and gain freedom. Except for the terminal portions of the inlet, the enclosure is substantially opaque so that the contents of the insect trap are not visible to the public.

  • Patent number: 5473836
Abstract: A structure of an pest and insect expeller of an electromagnetic type comprises astable multivibrator circuits an electromagnetic sound generator, a heat dissipation system, and conductor power wires, wherein the astable multivibrators produce a series of intermittent and varying signals. The electromagnetic sound generator makes use of the inductance of an electromagnetic field to create physical vibrations, resulting in electromagnetically vibrated sound waves. The sound waves are delivered by the medium of conductor power wires to all indoor power lines and ground wires connected to the apparatus of the invention, and are distributed all over room corners, cracks on walls, and gaps so that insects will feel uncomfortable and get out of hidden places, as a result, the apparatus can achieve its effect.

  • Patent number: 5471778
Abstract: The present invention provides a collapsible net assembly having a shaft with a main body disposed at one end and two support arms rotatably coupled to opposing sides of the main body for pivotal movement of support rods, which engage the net and are mounted within the support arms, between an open position and a closed position. The opposing sides of the main body comprise inclined surfaces formed within respective planes which converge at a point along the shaft so as to define a generally V-shaped main body. In order to obtain an angular displacement between the support rods in the open position and a parallel arrangement when in the dosed position, the support rods are mounted within the support arms at an angle .alpha. to their respective inclined surfaces. The magnitude of the angle .alpha.

  • Patent number: 5464053
Abstract: A process for semiliquid casting ingots from which to produce high-mechanical-performance die castings, whereby a metal alloy in the form of pigs and containing ceramic particles is smelted in a smelting furnace, transferred to a ladle, degassed, and fed into a pressurized furnace from which it is cast in the semiliquid state by feeding it at the solidification stage and under laminar flow conditions into a static mixer. At the outlet of the mixer the rheocast material is collected under laminar flow conditions, possibly with the interposition of a siphon type collecting tank and with protective gas shielding, through a cooled metal die, and solidified into a single billet. The billet is then guided by rollers past a saw and cut into pieces from which to obtain ingots of desired weight and size.

  • Patent number: 5461822
Abstract: A trap for catching flies having a cylindrical clear plastic outer shell with a removable lid and an opening in the bottom is disclosed.A funnel-shaped entryway within the cylindrical outer shell. The space between the funnel-shaped entry and the outer shell is filled with bait for attracting flies. A piece of string is glued or otherwise affixed to the inside of the small end of the funnel and dangles below the trap to form a "landing platform" for the flies to alight and crawl into the baited chamber where they become trapped and die.The lid can be removed for easy cleaning and refilling with bait.Attachment means are provided at the upper end of the trap where a piece of wire or string can be attached to hang the trap. The bait includes honey, milk, and diced apple.

  • Patent number: 5459959
Abstract: The invention is a moldable, buoyant composition comprising sugar, resin and EXPANCEL.RTM. microspheres, or the like. When the unexpanded microspheres are heated, they expand to increase their volume about 50 times. Blends of 2-10 parts microspheres to 100 parts sugar and resin result in expanded compositions with densities of from about 0.20 g/cc to about 0.35 g/cc. A convenient way to expand the blend is to place it in a conventional microwave oven at a "high" setting for from about 15 to about 60 seconds. The result is a low density, moldable putty which may be colored with fluorescent pigments and wrapped around a fishing line to make a highly visible fish strike indicator. Hydrophobic silica may be added to the composition to further increase its hydrophobicity.

  • Patent number: 5458183
Abstract: A continuous casting method includes the steps of continuously supplying molten metal into a mold through at least one feed nozzle connected to the mold through a break ring, with the feed nozzle, the mold and the break ring forming at least a portion of a continuous casting apparatus, and intermittently withdrawing a cast piece formed from the molten metal in the mold thereby creating pressure in a space formed at a connecting point between the break ring, the mold and the cast piece as a result of the withdrawal from the mold. A shield means is placed to seal-off space between the at least one feed nozzle, and the mold to prevent entry of gas into the continuous casting apparatus and the pressure is reduced in the sealed-off space to thereby eliminate a pressure differential between the pressure in the sealed-off space and the pressure created in the space formed at the connecting point between the break ring, the mold and the cast piece during the intermittent withdrawal from the mold.

  • Patent number: RE35063
Abstract: When soldering a honeycomb body formed by alternately piling flat foils (plates) and corrugated foils (plates), a binder liquid is sucked up from the end face of tile honeycomb body to form a binder streak in a space defined by contacting portions of the flat foil (plate) and corrugated foil (plate), a solder is scattered and applied onto the binder streak, and the honeycomb body is then dried and heated to effect a soldering of the honeycomb body. According to this method, soldering can be accomplished only in the vicinity of the contacting portions of the flat foil (plate) and corrugated foil (plate), with a desired soldering structure.
