  • Patent number: 7131786
Abstract: This invention relates to a process and a device for the damping of motion between two cylindrical parts sliding with one another in translation and friction. According to this invention, the damping is performed by the application of a force exerted radially perpendicularly to the translation motion of the two parts by at least one elastic segment (13) circling one of the parts (11) and inside the other (12), integral in translation with one of the parts (11) and appplying said frictional force on the other part (12). This invention is applicable to the absorption of shocks as well as to that of vibrations.

  • Patent number: 7124479
Abstract: A hook and an eye are integral with and located at opposite longitudinal ends of a body. The hook includes a tip spaced from the body and defining a mouth for attachment of the hook to a ring or other object. A lock pin mounted in the body moves axially between a closed position engaging the tip of the hook and an open position. The body has a flat, easily gripped shape with a button at one side movable in a transverse direction. A cam system translates transverse button movement into axial movement of the lock pin, and provides a decreasing force-displacement characteristic. The hook is designed to break to prevent user injury in the event of excessive force, and includes a ramp surface facilitating detachment of the hook.

  • Patent number: 7118299
Abstract: A high strength reinforcing bar splice uses a contractible jaw assembly bridging the bar ends to be joined. The jaw assembly includes interior teeth designed to bite into the projecting ribs or deformations on the outside of the bar ends which form the overall diameter of the bar but not the core or nominal diameter of the bar. The jaw assembly is constricted from both axial ends by driving tapered locking collars on each end of the jaw assembly with a tool while concurrently causing the jaw assembly to constrict and bite into the bar ends. When the tool is removed, the collars remain in place locking the jaw assembly closed. The splice provides not only high tensile and compressive strengths but also has good fatigue and dynamic strength to qualify as a Type 2 coupler.

  • Patent number: 7108249
Abstract: High fence supports can be expensive, difficult to ship, and awkward to install. Often, and particularly for the control of deer, it is desirable to increase the height of existing fence that uses steel T-posts for support. The T-post extender combined with a steel T-post becomes a high fence support useful for supporting high fence. A T-post extender consists of a longitudinal element, typically a length of steel rebar, and a stop element, typically a washer welded to the longitudinal element at a selected location along its length. For existing T-post fence supports, the T-post extender is slipped into place alongside the top of the T-post where it is captured laterally by existing wire ties and vertically by the stop element resting against the top of the T-post under the force of gravity. This arrangement has cost, installation, and shipping advantages both in new high fence construction and in the case where the height of existing T-post supported fence must be increased.

  • Patent number: 7103941
Abstract: A composite restraint system composed of a composite restraint strap, a patch and a tensioning tool for restraining freight during transportation. The composite restraint strap includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer includes a plurality of strands of yarn having a specified percentage of elongation before breaking and a specified creep. The second layer includes a nonwoven fabric. The composite restraint strap is capable of being attached to a floor or a wall of a transportation device in order to restrain the freight from movement. The composite restraint strap is typically tightened across the freight using the tensioning tool and held in place during transportation with the patch having a permanent-type adhesive for preventing the taut composite restraint strap from losing tension. The patch may be pre-attached to a strap prior to installation around freight.

  • Patent number: 7100249
Abstract: The buckle of the present invention has a first connection means including two spaced-apart parallel slots for semi-permanently attaching the buckle (10) to a length of webbing in a well-known manner. It has a second connection means, which includes a first aperture (34) and a passageway (36) leading into the first aperture, through which a captive loop of webbing may be guided to locate it within the first aperture. The buckle also includes a second aperture (40), defined by parallel arms (27, 28), which is open in a direction opposite to that of the first aperture, for securing the captive loop in the buckle. When a captive loop of webbing (52) is secured in position, the buckle (10) cannot be shaken loose from the captive loop, but may be easily released when required by simply reversing the fastening procedure.

  • Patent number: 7093327
Abstract: A strap fastener set, capable of providing a reading of a tensile force exerted thereon, includes a strap fastener for winding a first strap and a gauge provided between the strap fastener and a second strap. The gauge includes a cylinder tied with the second strap. The cylinder includes a window defined therein and a scale provided thereon along the window. A first ring is secured to the cylinder. A spring is put in the cylinder. A rod extends past the ring through the spring for connection with the strap fastener. A second ring is secured to the rod so that it is moved relative to the cylinder so as to compress the spring against the first ring when a tensile force is exerted on the straps. The second ring includes an indicator formed thereon for cooperation with the scale so as to provide a reading of the tensile force.

  • Patent number: 7093330
Abstract: A snap-hook that has a hook, forming a portion of an eye loop, and a lever that is pivotally movable relative to the hook. The lever forms a remaining portion of said eye loop with respect to the hook. A thumb tab is connected to the lever, and is positioned in a slot defined in the hook. The thumb tab is slidable in the slot relative to the hook, forming a release mechanism, such that the sliding movement of the thumb tab in the slot causes the lever to pivot relative to the hook to open said eye loop. The snap-hook has essentially broad, opposing, front and back sides, and relatively narrower edges, such that the back side of the snap-hook can be placed into the palm of a user's hand to hold the snap. The thumb tab is located on the front side of the snap-hook to allow simpler holding of the snap-hook and operation of the release mechanism with one hand while essentially eliminating swiveling of the snap-hook in the hand.

  • Patent number: 7089631
Abstract: A mounting hook for a wire array mountable on a seat frame has a first portion having a seating member running longitudinally along the first portion, a second portion having a channel running across the top of the hook and outboard of the hooking surface, and a hooking member running transversely to the channel and parallel to the seating member. The first, second and third portions define a hooking surface. A method of seat assembly consists of a wire array connecting to mounting hooks by running a mounting wire through the wire seating member of the mounting hook. Such wire is then bent to a transverse angle. After such wire is bent, the mounting hook is slid to the bent area. The bent area is then placed into the channel. The wire array is then ready for mounting on the seat frame through the use of the hooks.

  • Patent number: 7089632
Abstract: A slider for slide fastener in which locking portions formed on a front surface of a first post portion and a rear surface of a second post portion and engaging pieces formed on inner surfaces of front and rear end portions of a substantially lateral C-shaped pull holding body are elastically engaged and fixed with each other, and at the same time, the pull holding body is fitted and fixed between support walls raised at right and left end edges of the first and second post portions, so that a holding force for the pull holding body in a back and forth direction, a right and left direction, an oblique direction, and an up and down direction against a strong force by operation of a pull is increased, thereby making a structure of the slider simple and economical and achieving miniaturization of the slider.

  • Patent number: 7082648
Abstract: An air/water-tight slide fastener has an end stop. The end stop has a flange portion extending therearoud. At least part of the flange is extensive enough to be integrally fixed to the opening edges of an opening formed in an article. Since the flange portion is firmly clamped by and between the air/water-tight fastener tape and the opening edges of the opening of the article; when the air/water-tight slide fastener is folded on itself; the excessive bending stresses exerted directly on the air/water-tight fastener tape is relaxed or mitigated. The air/water-tight fastener tape is thus prevented from being peeled off at that position.
