Patent number: 4613935Abstract: The invention employs an execution control unit consisting of a look up memory, three instruction registers and logic gates to control pipe line processing by an ALU. During such processing the sequential steps required to execute a program instruction are overlapped so that the ALU and its associated memory are always busy. The three instruction registers are provided to receive and retain up to three instructions which may be in process at a given time. The memory is preferably divided into a plurality of banks to improve the performance of the system by reducing the occurrence of a memory busy condition. To facilitate pipe lining an instruction format is employed having a fixed location for the data field which specifies the register to be used for address preparation.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1983Date of Patent: September 23, 1986Inventor: John F. Patent number: 4608268Abstract: A method of manufacturing a mask for use in x-ray photolithography includes the steps of coating a set of wafers (20) with boron nitride (22). The tension in the boron nitride is measured by using a capacitive probe (26) to measure bowing in a set of test wafers. The remaining wafers are attached to a pyrex ring (28), and the boron nitride is removed from one side of the wafers. A circular hole is then eteched in the wafer, and a layer of tantalum (32) and gold (34) are formed on the remaining boron nitride membrane. The gold (34) is patterned via a sputter etching process. Power is reduced at the end of the sputter etching process slowly to reduce mechanical stress in the mask. The tantalum (32) is then etched via a reactive ion etching process. In this way, an x-ray transparent boron nitride membrane is used to support x-ray opaque gold.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1985Date of Patent: August 26, 1986Assignee: Micronix CorporationInventor: Alexander R. Patent number: 4603399Abstract: Data from a patch memory (23) is substituted for that in a system ROM (9) by applying high order addresses to a standard PLA (19) having word lines (FIG. 3, 50a-50p). The address orders are separately applied to EXCLUSIVE OR circuits (27a-27g). The PLA (19) is personalized to activate line (21) at addresses to be substituted and to provide logical zeros to the EXCLUSIVE OR circuits (27a-27g) which change during the patch. Only one word line is required for each continuous patch, which vary in size on a patch-by-patch basis. The circuit is fast and efficient. It can be used for a wide variety of memory substitution applications.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1983Date of Patent: July 29, 1986Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Elbert A.
