Abstract: New systems and methods allow for transmission of multiple types of content protocols over a unidirectional content delivery network, such as a television broadcast. Hardware and/or software used at the network transmission location (such as a television broadcast station) and hardware and/or software located at an endpoint (such as a home television, car infotainment system, or first responder location) allow for a native ATSC 1.0 signal to have embedded within it additional content that is not encoded as ATSC 1.0 content. The non-ATSC 1.0 content can be detected and segregated from ATSC 1.0 content so that the endpoint devices (such as a television receiver) will not attempt to render the non-ATSC 1.0 content (such as, e.g., ATSC 3.0 content or application specific content) as normal ATSC 1.0 programming. Instead, the non-ATSC 1.

Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring a user's viewing progress of media in a series are provided. The user may setup a media profile containing a list of program series to be monitored. The interactive media monitoring application may track the user's viewing progress of programs in the program series on the user equipment and update the user's media profile. The user may request and watch programs in the series at the user's leisure while peripheral media content may be filtered to be consistent with the user's viewing progress in the series.

Abstract: The present application provides techniques for displaying information pages. The techniques comprise in response to an operation of starting a client application by a user, displaying a first page comprising a navigation bar and displaying an image of a recommended creator in a preset area of the navigation bar; and in response to detecting a touch operation on the image of the recommended creator, jumping from the first page to a second page and displaying the image of the recommended creator at a top position in a predetermined area of the second page, wherein the predetermined area is configured to display images of a plurality of recommended creators based on information of the user.

Abstract: Disclosed is a multimedia server on-board an aircraft including: a database including a permanent part and a temporary part, the temporary part being empty each time the aircraft takes off; a module for receiving a request from a terminal including a playback request for a multimedia file of interest; a processing module configured for checking whether the multimedia file of interest is present in the database; an external communication module configured for sending the request to an external system when the multimedia of interest is not present in the database and for receiving the multimedia file of interest and for storing same in the temporary part; and a module for sending the multimedia file of interest to the terminal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for performing trick plays of segmented video content are provided. A point at which a trick play begins may be based on a playback time associated with a video segment that includes the video frame currently displayed when a request to start the trick play is received. A point at which to resume playback of the normal rate video content may be similarly based on a trick play playback time associated with a trick play video segment that includes the trick play video frame currently outputted when a request to stop the trick play is received.

The computer system detects a second user input selecting a representation of a second audio item that is associated with a second video content item displayed in the user interface and in response to the second user input, displays or otherwise provides, a user interface for the second audio item and ceasing display of the second video content item.

Abstract: A method and system for controlling media-content presentation based on user presence and/or user profile. An example method includes a computing system determining a quantity of users present at a media-presentation device, the quantity being at least one. Further, the example method includes, based on the determining, the computing system using the determined quantity of users present at the media-presentation device as a basis to control what media content a media player outputs for presentation by the media-presentation device. For instance, based on the determined quantity of users the computing system could tailor a graphical user interface (GUI) that the media player outputs for presentation by the media-presentation device, such as by tailoring a set of channel options that a channel-selection GUI provides, among other possibilities.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system includes a CATV node, a first device, and at least one micro distribution system. The CATV node transmits CATV RF signals to the first device, which converts the RF signals to optical signals. Each micro distribution system includes a micro node receiving the optical signals from the first device and converting the optical signals to RF signals. Each micro distribution system further includes at least two strings of taps independently coupled to the micro node and receiving the RF signals from the micro node. For each string of taps, the received RF signals are passed from the micro node along the taps, while a powering signal is passed along the taps.

Abstract: Example apparatus disclosed herein are to determine a location of a portable device based on location data collected by the portable device, determine whether a person is within a threshold distance of the portable device based on proximity data collected by the portable device, and, when the person is determined to be within the threshold distance of the portable device: (i) infer at least one of a presence or an absence of the person in a media exposure environment based on the location of the portable device, (ii) determine a confidence level that the person corresponds to a member of the panelist household, and (iii) determine an accuracy of presence information collected by a people meter based on the confidence level and the inference of the at least one of the presence or the absence of the person, the people meter different than the portable device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for detecting timestamp discontinuities and video resolution discontinuities within a packet stream and marking locations of the detected discontinuities within the packet stream are described. Prior to transmission of the packet stream, an electronic device may perform timestamp discontinuity detection by acquiring a sequence of packets to be transmitted, identifying a first timestamp associated with an earliest packet within the sequence of packets, identifying a second timestamp associated with a latest packet within the sequence of packets, determining a timestamp time difference between the first timestamp and the second timestamp, determining a maximum chunk time difference based on a data rate at which the sequence of packets were encoded and a data size of the encoded packets, and detecting that a timestamp discontinuity exists within the sequence of packets if the timestamp time difference is greater than the maximum chunk time difference.

Abstract: A method of optimizing playback, the method including: determining whether a player is in a freezing state; obtaining freezing information of the player when the player is in the freezing state; and determining a freezing type based on the freezing information, wherein the freezing type is used to instruct the player to perform a corresponding optimization operation. According to the present application, a freezing classification may be performed based on the freezing information to obtain refined freezing types, and different optimization strategies may be formulated respectively based on the freezing types to implement playback optimization, thereby improving playback optimization effect and optimization efficiency and improving playback experience.

Abstract: Systems and methods are operable to control operation of a portable media device based on machine readable information of a graphical artifact shown on a display concurrently with presentation of a video portion of a media content event. A portable media device, using a portable media device provisioned with an image capture device, captures at least one image that includes the display that is presenting the graphical artifact and the video portion of the media content event, identifies the graphical artifact in the captured at least one image, determines the machine readable data based on the identified graphical artifact, and operates the portable media device to perform at least one operation based on the determined machine readable data.
