Abstract: Determining interest in promotional content to be displayed at a mobile communication device is described. The promotional content, including a first portion that is visible and a second portion that is hidden in a first state, may be received. The first and second portions are each selectable only when visible. A promotional display that includes the promotional content in the first state is generated. Upon receipt of a first input from the user in relation to the first portion, the promotional content may be transitioned from the first state to a second state such the first portion becomes hidden and the second portion becomes visible. Upon failing to receive a second input from the user in relation to the second portion, the promotional content may be transitioned from the second state to the first state. Upon receipt of the second input, an interest in the promotional content may be indicated.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for browsing objects organized in a hierarchy using a three-dimensional user interface. Some embodiments of the present technology involve a platform that renders an interface that represents objects that are hierarchically connected in three-dimensional space and that allows navigation through the hierarchy by moving through the three-dimensional space.

Abstract: A computer-implemented user interface method includes displaying on a mobile device desktop a background image and one or more foreground items over the background image, receiving a user input to pan across the desktop, and panning the background images and one or more foreground images in a parallax manner relative to each other.

Abstract: A method and system are provided to facilitate navigating through a video. In one example, a video-player system identifies on a video-controller one or more scene-boundaries. A scene-boundary is associated with a video frame of a scene-start or a scene-end of a video. The video-player system receives a request to move a pointing-indicator. The pointing-indicator is a graphical element rendered on a display device of a video-player system and coincides with input to the video-player system. The video-player system calculates, in response to the request to move the pointing-indicator, a distance between the pointing-indicator and a particular scene-boundary. The video-player system determines whether the distance between the pointing-indicator and a particular scene-boundary is less than a threshold. The video-player system then snaps the pointing-indicator to the particular scene-boundary in response to determining the distance is less than the threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing gesture-based user interactions within an interactive display area are provided. The display of one or more virtual objects and user interactions with the one or more virtual objects may be further provided. Multiple interactive areas may be created by partitioning an area proximate a display into multiple volumetric spaces or zones. The zones may be associated with respective user interaction capabilities. A representation of a user on the display may change as the ability of the user to interact with one or more virtual object changes.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for collaborating on the specification of an interactive graphical design are provided. An exemplary system comprises a graphical design environment. The system also comprises a note interface in the graphical design environment that displays a note field for accepting a text string from the user. The system also comprises a design player that renders the design. The system also comprises a discussion interface that: (i) is displayed in the design player consistently with the design; (ii) displays the text string from the user as a note; and (iii) accepts a comment from a second user regarding the note. The system also comprises a data store accessible to the graphical design environment and the design player. The comment is displayed in the graphical design environment after being accepted in the discussion interface.

Abstract: Members of a social networking system group are provided multiple interfaces to communicate within the group. A first communication interface allows a user to upload a first content item; in response to this, the first content item is transmitted via a first communication channel to online members of the group. A second communication interface allows a user to upload a second content item; in response to this, the second content item is transmitted via a second communication channel to online and offline members of the group. Transmission via a first communication channel may comprise sending an instant message containing the first content item. Transmission via a second communication channel may comprise displaying the second content item on a group message board. Both interfaces may be contained within the group's web page or may be contained within another web page within the social networking system or outside of it.

Abstract: A biometric monitoring device with a display is provided. The display may, in response to receiving page advance requests from a user, advance through a plurality of different data display pages, at least some of which show aspects of biometric data recorded by the device. The biometric monitoring device may also, based on the biometric data, modify the sequential display order of the data display pages. In some implementations, a biometric monitoring device integrated into a wristband may be configured to turn a display of the biometric monitoring device on and display the time in response to biometric sensors of the biometric monitoring device detecting motion of the wearer's forearm consistent with moving the forearm into a watch-viewing position.

Abstract: Methods and systems executing an embedded application within the context of a first client application are provided. One method includes executing application logic to adjust states of one or more display objects and rendering one or more of the one or more display objects that are associated with a stage definition in a display region of the first client application. In response to a trigger event, the method causes the first application to generate a interface component, such as a pop-up, in the display region and pausing the rendering of the embedded application. The pausing includes generating a static image based on the states of the one or more display objects associated with the stage definition, associating the static image with the stage definition and disassociating the one or more display objects from the stage definition.

Abstract: An interactive vehicle information map system is disclosed in which, in various embodiments, geographical, geospatial, vehicle, and other types of data, geodata, objects, features, and/or metadata are efficiently presented to a user on an interactive map interface. In an embodiment, the user may search vehicle-related data via the interactive map by providing search criteria including, for example, information regarding a geographic area, a time period, a vehicle, a vehicle owner, and/or a license plate number, among other items. The map system may provide search results including a list of vehicles that match the search criteria, vehicle information, and/or points on the interactive map that indicate license-plate recognition read locations, among other information. In an embodiment, the user may view detailed information associated with particular vehicles including, for example, captured images, vehicle-owner data, event history, and the like. Further, the user may export data and/or create search alerts.

Abstract: Techniques for managing a set of states associated with a capture device are disclosed herein. The capture device may detect and bind to users, and may provide feedback about whether the capture device is bound to, or detecting a user. Techniques are also disclosed wherein virtual ports may be associated with users bound to a capture device and feedback about the state of virtual ports may be provided.

Abstract: Devices, methods and computer-readable media for providing control of switching of an interactive session in a communications network. Content may be switched between media presentation screens. Collected data is analyzed and a location of a user within the communications network is monitored. A presentation of a first screen the user is watching may be exchanged for a presentation of a second screen selected based upon a change in the location of a monitored user and the analysis of the collected data.

Abstract: A consumer electronic device has an orientation sensor and a lock control. The orientation sensor outputs signals identifying the orientation of the device, while the lock control to allow a user to move the device from a locked state to an unlocked state. The device also includes a plurality of application programs stored in memory. Responsive to the user unlocking the device, a controller will launch a selected application program. The application that is launched by the device is based on an orientation of the device.

The computer processor transmits the messages to the proxy user interface instance. The computer processor transmits feedback data associated with the messages to the client computing system.

Abstract: A technique for handling user-interface gestures in non-rectangular regions of a graphical user interface includes creating a class comprising an event handler for an onmouseover event and an event handler for an onmouseout event. The technique further includes adding each of a group of graphical elements to the class. Adding a graphical element to the class includes adding a reference to the graphical element to the class and attaching the event handlers to the graphical element. The technique then identifies a specific graphical element in the group that triggered an invocation of one of the event handlers. The technique then determines the closest border of the specific graphical element to the mouse pointer. In the event another graphical element in the group shares the closest border, the technique stops either the onmouseover or onmouseout event from propagating.

Abstract: A thumbnail display screen is displayed. The thumbnail display screen contains a first thumbnail array and a second thumbnail array, in which the images of two groups of frames extracted from a moving image file according to different rules are aligned in the order of appearance in the moving image. The first thumbnail array can be shifted forward or backward via an input apparatus, and the second thumbnail array is shifted in conjunction with a shift of the first thumbnail array. When one of the frames on the thumbnail display screen is selected, the moving image is played from the selected frame or the nearest scene switching point from the frame.

Abstract: A user control is provided for use with a multidimensional dataset that allows a user to graphically set the bounds for one or more of the dimensions of data selected from the dataset. The graphical user control includes a wireframe cube representing the extent of data in the dataset and a selector box within the data cube. A user can indicate a selected perspective and orientation of the data by selecting a portion of an edge of the selector box, and a visual indication of the selected perspective and orientation is provided. The user further can select a desired portion of the data by changing a size and/or a position of the selector box within the data cube. The graphical user control further includes a visual indicator representing the fourth dimension of the dataset which allows the user to identify and select a further subset of the data defined by the selector box.

Abstract: Techniques for managing virtual ports are disclosed herein. Each such virtual port may have different associated features such as, for example, privileges, rights or options. When one or more users are in a capture scene of a gesture based system, the system may associate virtual ports with the users and maintain the virtual ports. Also provided are techniques for disassociating virtual ports with users or swapping virtual ports between two or more users.
