Abstract: A computer-implemented user interface method includes displaying on a mobile device desktop a background image and one or more foreground items over the background image, receiving a user input to pan across the desktop, and panning the background images and one or more foreground images in a parallax manner relative to each other.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing gesture-based user interactions within an interactive display area are provided. The display of one or more virtual objects and user interactions with the one or more virtual objects may be further provided. Multiple interactive areas may be created by partitioning an area proximate a display into multiple volumetric spaces or zones. The zones may be associated with respective user interaction capabilities. A representation of a user on the display may change as the ability of the user to interact with one or more virtual object changes.

Abstract: A terminal and method for displaying contents information is provided for showing the contents information in efficient and intuitive manner. The terminal includes a memory unit for storing contents and creation times of the contents, a display unit for displaying a life diary screen including a time axis, a date axis and contents graph in a life diary mode, a key input unit for receiving a date selection command for selecting a date on the date axis and a control unit for retrieving contents created on the selected date, counting numbers of contents per date and controlling a display of the contents graph generated based on the number of the contents per date, when a date is selected through the key input unit.

Abstract: Techniques for managing virtual ports are disclosed herein. Each such virtual port may have different associated features such as, for example, privileges, rights or options. When one or more users are in a capture scene of a gesture based system, the system may associate virtual ports with the users and maintain the virtual ports. Also provided are techniques for disassociating virtual ports with users or swapping virtual ports between two or more users.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems are provided for enabling virtual universe users to find and engage subject matter experts within a virtual universe by defining a virtual universe subject matter expert conduit within the virtual universe. A virtual universe user avatar engages the conduit and a user indicates a subject matter expert search term. A data storage is searched for a tag relevant to the search term, and an expert-avatar is identified and located through the relevant tag. The user is enabled to directly communicate with the identified expert-avatar through a conduit communication medium entirely within the virtual universe, without requiring the user to engage a resource outside of the virtual universe or without requiring the user to engage an interface outside of the virtual universe.

Abstract: A system and associated method for migrating from a first application to a second application where the second application is an alternative to the first application with respect to functionality. Overlaying a first graphical user interface (GUI) onto the second application where the first GUI corresponding to the first application. Sending to a display device a set of steps which if executed would invoke a feature utilizing a second GUI after the feature was invoked utilizing the first GUI. Removing the first GUI with respect to the feature and displaying the second GUI with respect to the feature after satisfying a condition. Finally, repeating the steps of sending to a display device and removing the first GUI for all features common to both the first application and the second application.

Abstract: A magnifier panning system is described that creates a panning region at the edges of a magnified view. When a user moves the cursor into the panning region, the system pans the magnified view. When the user is not in the panning region, the user can interact with objects in the magnified view without the view shifting around. The objects appear magnified, but they do not behave or move any differently than they would if they were not magnified, providing the user with a familiar and comfortable user experience. Thus, the magnifier panning system provides the user with a much more natural view for interacting with the displayed objects while still allowing an efficient way to pan the view to move the magnified view to a different area of the screen.

Abstract: A method for creating a customized music visualization display for a music input involves presenting a user with a plurality of effects icons and a visualizer canvas as a portion of the user interface display. A user places one or more of the visual effects icons on the visualizer canvas. A sweep arm travels in a continuous sweeping motion through an arc and at a speed determined by a musical input and where each effect icon is detected and the effect is displayed when the sweep arm impacts the location of the video effect icon within the visualizer canvas.
