  • Patent number: 4978045
Abstract: A sheet stapler apparatus including a cartridge for containing a belt of connected staple wires, a movement confining device provided in the cartridge for confining movement of the staple wires, and a device for stapling sheet materials with the leading staple wire from the belt. A device feeds the staple wires out of the cartridge to the stapling device, and a detecting device detects when the staple supply in the cartridge is almost empty. A control device, responsive to the detecting device, prohibits feeding of the belt by the feeding device, at which time the movement confining device acts on the staples to keep them in the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 4903881
Abstract: A manually operable press for installing fasteners in flexible material comprises a one piece relatively rigid frame of generally C-shape having a vertically extending back portion and a pair of laterally extending and vertically spaced upper and lower legs. A ram is carried in the upper leg and is guided for reciprocating movement along a path toward and away from the lower leg. The ram is driven toward the lower leg by a drive assembly comprising first and second drive levers mounted for pivotal movement in the upper end of the frame. The first drive lever has a first end in driving engagement with the ram and a second end drivingly connected by a toggle link to a first end of the second drive lever. A second end of the second lever constitutes a manual drive handle and is arranged to extend generally parallel to the back portion of the frame when the second lever has been moved to a position wherein the ram member is driven to generally the maximum extent of its movement toward the lower leg.

  • Patent number: 4736806
Abstract: Continuously revolving percussion drilling machine, which comprises a body (1), a drill shank (2) mounted rotatably and axially slidably in the body for causing impacts on the drill rod, an impact mechanism (3) positioned in the body for causing axial impacts on the drill shank, and a rotating device (4) for rotating the drill shank around its axis. The drill shank is provided with a toothing (8), which is coupled in direct engagement with a toothing (9) revolving in relation to the drill shank and rotating the drill shank, said toothing of the drill shank being axially displaceable in relation to said rotating toothing, so that the contact surfaces of the teeth of the toothing on the drill shank and of the toothing rotating the drill shank revolve and are exchanged constantly. The teeth operate cold and well lubricated. The rotating toothing may be a cogwheel or a tooth rim.

  • Patent number: 4638528
Abstract: An oil type damper comprises a housing formed of a basic member in the shape of a blind tube and a cap, a rotating member and a braking disc adapted to rotate jointly and accommodated within the housing, viscous oil applied to the braking disc, and at least one flexible membrane opposed to the braking disc so as to allow the braking disc to be sealed in the housing as covered with the oil. In this oil damper, when the oil serving to brake the rotary motion of the rotating member connected to a given door expands in volume because of rising temperature, the flexible membrane is deformed under the pressure of the expanded oil enough to absorb the voluminal expansion of the oil and prevent otherwise possible leakage of the oil from the housing.

  • Patent number: 4589163
Abstract: A lift ring device arranged to normally remain in a flush condition, and involving a generally U-shaped lift loop pivotally mounted upon a base plate, such as a base plate mounted on the hatch lid of a boat. The lift loop is equipped with a pair of arm portions of substantially equal length, with each arm portion terminating in a pintle bent out of the plane of the lift loop. The base plate has a central recess defined over a substantial portion of its circumference by angled sidewalls, and in such recess the lift loop normally resides. A pair of symmetrically placed pintle-receiving holes are located in the sidewalls, which holes are elongate in a direction essentially perpendicular to the plane of the central recess. The interaction of the pintles of the lift loop with their respective holes is such as to prohibit the lift loop from residing in a perpendicular direction with respect to the base plate, thus assuring that the lift ring device will not represent a trip hazard.

  • Patent number: 4585079
Abstract: A machine applies screwing and unscrewing torque between successive drill pipes with an essentially vertical axis extending through a tapered opening in a turntable for a well bore. The machine includes a mechanism for applying a high initial unthreading torque and a high final threading torque between successive drill pipes and a mechanism for rapid screwing and unscrewing of successive drill pipes. The machine also includes a clamping mechanism having a bolster and a plurality of shims. The shims have outer portions tapered to fit into the opening of the turntable and have inner portions with a shape corresponding to the shape of the drill pipes. Each shim is supported individually on the bolster by a device that moves the shim into engagement with a drill pipe to grip the same and with sufficient freedom to permit the shims to center the pipe between them automatically. The bolster is lowered to cause the shims to enter the opening in the turntable.

  • Patent number: 4583601
Abstract: A "hole bottom" hammer drill comprising a tubular body (1) supplied with compressed air, a drill bit (3) and a percussion piston (38) caused to move in an inner cylinder (7) by a mechanism distributing compressed air alternately below and above the piston. The hammer drill includes a device (29) for injecting gas oil into the chamber (71) above the piston (38) and a mechanism (34, 35) for triggering the injection during the upward stroke of the piston (38); the additional compression effects the combustion of the air-gas oil mixture, thus projecting the piston (38) towards the drill bit (3).

  • Patent number: 4583600
Abstract: An impact-delivery tool (20) includes a motor-driven gear (72) which supports for continuous rotation therewith a relatively shiftable drive pin (80). The drive pin (80) is selectively shifted to couple the rotary drive of the gear (72) to a reciprocably operable, impact drive bar (76). An interrupt mechanism (78) which detects workpiece engagement by the tool (20) and operator actuation of the tool, both necessary for tool operation, controls the coupling and decoupling of the drive pin (80) relative to the drive bar (76). The interrupt mechanism (78) provides selective processing of the tool (20) through an impact delivery power stroke and a return stroke while also precluding successive power strokes.

  • Patent number: 4581788
Abstract: The curtain rod acts as shield concealing the runners and the upper edge of the curtain. The runners are guided by edges of slots in the inner and outer rod sections by means of grooves. The grooves receive the slot edges of the inner as well as outer rod section of the telescoping curtain rod only at the area of transition between inner and outer rod section. The runners glide back and forth between the outer rod section and the inner rod section without impinging at any place. This is due to the design according to which mentioned edges of the slots cooperate exclusively with only one each of two grooves present in the runners, each groove alocated to one respective guiding edge.
