Patent number: 4559858Abstract: A portable saw mill apparatus includes a frame carrying supporting wheels, outriggers and a trailer hitch. A horizontal, unitized tubular track is secured to the frame and a carriage is moveable along said track. Mounted on the carriage is a horizontal, cantilevered band saw which is moveable vertically. Logs are received on support members secured to the frame, and the band saw is moved longitudinally of the frame to make successive cuts of the saw. Lowering of the band saw between successive passes provides for spacing of the cuts of the log. A single lever control enables the operator to positively engage or brake the band saw, and also to control the engine throttle.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1982Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignee: Laskowski Enterprises, IncorporatedInventors: Donald R. Patent number: 4543685Abstract: A cast with an inherent function of automatically changing the direction of a wheel (11) is selectively stopped. A severe shock applied to the wheel (11) cancels the lock on the wheel (11) against the change of direction. In response to such shock, a wheel attaching member (12) is turned around the axis of a pivot shaft (13), whereby a key member (20) held by the wheel attaching member (12) escapes from a fitting recess (29a or 29b) formed in a fixed bushing (27). As a result, the rotary bracket (4) is allowed to rotate around the vertical shaft (5).Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1984Date of Patent: October 1, 1985Assignee: Kassai KabushikikaishaInventor: Kenzou Kassai

Patent number: 4524894Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming patterns from sheet material employs a castered cutting bit that is guided along a closed cutting path defined by the shape of the desired pattern. The bit is mounted fixedly in a presser foot and projects a predetermined amount below the surface of the foot to control the depth of cut into the material. Frangible materials are cut to depth less than the thickness of the material, and thereafter complete severance of the pattern from the sheet material is accomplished by fracturing the material along the line of cut.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1982Date of Patent: June 25, 1985Assignee: Gerber Garment Technology, Inc.Inventor: Claude W.
