  • Patent number: 10632089
Abstract: A tyrosinase activity inhibitor is prepared by combining (A) a metal (zinc, cobalt or iron) chelate compound of ?-lipoyl amino acid or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt with (B-1) a human manganese SOD or (B-2) an ascorbic acid compound such as ascorbic acid and ascorbyl glucoside. A ratio (R1) of the (B-1) component content to the (A) component content is preferably 0.001 to 1,500, when R1 is defined as R1=[Unit concentration of (B-1) component (unit/mL)/Concentration of (A) component (?g/mL)], and a ratio (R2) of the (A) component content to the (B-2) component content is preferably 0.0001 to 1,000, when R2 is defined as R2=[Concentration of (A) component (m/mL)/Concentration of (B-1) component (mg/mL)]. An external preparation for skin contains the (A) component and the (B-1) component or the (B-2) component as effective ingredients for inhibiting tyrosinase activity.

  • Patent number: 10603309
Abstract: A novel function for the p53 gene related to resolution of deep venous thrombosis is disclosed herein. Lack of the p53 gene results in impaired thrombus resolution in a clinically relevant in vivo model of deep venous thrombus resolution. It is further shown that augmentation of p53 activity with quinacrine accelerates thrombus resolution in vivo, and that this beneficial effect is completely dependent on p53. p53-based therapy is therefore provided to accelerate thrombus resolution in patients, and to prevent or ameliorate the debilitating long-term complications of deep venous thrombosis such as post-thrombotic syndrome.

  • Patent number: 10603413
Abstract: An inventive digestive tract barrier includes a material defining dimensions of a tube sized to deploy within the digestive tract of a subject. The material or stitches that make up the barrier disintegrate in a controlled manner. The disintegration precludes the need for a surgical procedure to retrieve the barrier and allows for increased nutritional absorption after behavior modification has occurred. Through the inclusion of opening or fenestrations in the barrier, bile flow and nutrition absorption are facilitated. Disintegration is facilitated by formation of the barrier from biodegradable material, stitching non-degradable swatches with disintegrating stitching, or the use of a MEMS cutter. A digestive barrier coated on either the interior or exterior of the tube facilitates management of conditions such as obesity, colitis, and Crohn's disease.
