Abstract: An electronic service system is formed by a main site server system and a partner site server system. The main site server system carries out a remote updating of contents of tie-up pages at the partner site server system, when the authentication between the main site server system and the partner site server system succeeds. The partner site server system maintains tie-up pages related to a partnership between the main site and the partner site, and original pages of the partner site.
Abstract: Described herein is a session reuse approach that reuses a session already established on a remote participant to execute an autonomous transaction. The session is reused in a manner that avoids affecting the session's state in a way adverse to later execution of the containing transaction. When beginning an autonomous transaction on a local participant, a request to initiate an autonomous transaction on a remote participant is deferred or not sent at all if the containing transaction is a distributed one. The request may be sent later, piggybacked to another message, using a piggyback messaging system. When ending an autonomous transaction, a local participant may send a request to a remote participant requesting that the remote participant commence execution of its respective containing transaction. The request is piggybacked to another message, and is thus transmitted without having to transmit the request separately, avoiding a message round trip.

Abstract: A method and associated device for selecting one of a number of equivalent paths in forwarding a network message from a node of a communication network. A source and destination address is provided for the network message. The addresses are formed of individual bit values, and these values have a relative mapping between them. The relative mapping is decorrelated to obtain a decorrelated address pair. A randomized selection function is applied to the decorrelated address pair to produce an index which is derived from the relative sequence of bit values of the decorrelated address paid. The index is then used to select one of the equivalent paths. The associated device provides an address reader, a decorrelation module and a randomized selection module for performing the method previously described.
Abstract: A system and method is provided that allows a user to access life event information. Publicly accessible computer kiosks are provided. An individual user may make selections on the publicly accessible computer as to information or data the user is interested in viewing. The selection may be made by activating one of a number of touch screen buttons. The user may be directed to an ultimate item of information by going through a succession of screens that narrow the user's selection. When the user has identified an item of information the request is routed through a life event server to an appropriate content server. A content server may be a computer of a government entity where life event information is stored. The content server selects the requested information and returns it to the user.
Abstract: A recording and reproducing system according to the invention is made up of a server apparatus and its terminals connected over a local area network that is administered independently in a limited area. In the system, any one of the terminals may generate a reproduction request and send it to the server apparatus over the LAN. In response to the request, the server apparatus reproduces video data from a storage medium installed therein and sends the reproduced video data to the requesting terminal over the LAN. In this manner, a user may reproduce video data and enjoy images thereof by remotely operating the server apparatus with ease from any terminal configured in the system.
Abstract: A user's sequence of Web Browser requests when navigating within a single Web site are tracked. Requests for access to resources within the Web site are compared with redirection criteria and, if matching, are redirected to a request tracker which determines a session identifier (generating a new session ID if required), then logs the request and redirects the request back to the Web server for processing. A request tracker outside the scope of the Web server program is used and thus addresses the inability of many Web servers to support cookies and avoid's major rewriting of the Web site.

Abstract: A method and program for checking for misconfigurations and inefficiencies in the configuration of devices and links on a network. Information relating to the configuration of components on the network is stored in a database. The configuration information is accessed for each device, and interrogated for each port and its associated link and connected remote port. The interrogation determines whether the ports and links have matched configuration and whether they are running at optimum capability, such as at full duplex (both ends permitting), at maximum speed or with maximum numbers of ports assigned to a trunk.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates single sign-on services in a wireless environment. The system operates by receiving a request at an application server from a wireless gateway to access a partner application on behalf of a user. The system then determines if the wireless gateway holds a token granting access to the partner application on behalf of the user. If the wireless gateway does not hold the token, the system redirects the request to a single sign-on server. The single sign-on server then requests user authentication credentials from the user through the wireless gateway. After receiving the user authentication credentials, the system determines if the user is authorized to access the partner application. If so, the single sign-on server issues a token to the wireless gateway. This token grants wireless gateway access to the partner application on behalf of the user.
Abstract: The present invention relates to computer-based devices and methods supporting document exchange choreographies. More particularly, aspects of the present invention relate to devices and methods that facilitate evolution of systems by various combinations of choreography versioning, service versioning and document versioning. It provides for choreography management using a choreography agent and presents choreography-enabled interfaces to non choreography enabled applications. Additional aspects of the present invention include a graphical design tool and transparent aliasing of a host service as multiple context setting franchised services. Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing a communication means for an interfacing device that utilizes a communication means hierarchy to decipher a communication means to be used by other hardware devices so that they may operative cooperatively. Particularly, a controlling device queries an interfacing device for the manufacturer of the interfacing device. If the manufacturer is determinable, then the controlling device queries the interfacing device for the model of the interfacing device. This querying for the model utilizes the identity of the manufacturer by using communication means that are particular to the manufacturer to query the interfacing device. Based on the information queried from the interfacing device, the controlling device is able to decipher the best known communication means for the interfacing device.
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus which is connected to an external terminal having an input unit via a network, can receive an input from the input unit of the external terminal, and has its own input unit, an exclusion manager (23) monitors an input from the input unit of the external terminal and that from the self input unit. As a result of monitoring, if an input from a given input unit is generated, the exclusion manager executes exclusion control that inhibits an input from the other input unit until that input is completed.
