Abstract: Measures for processing requests in a telecommunications network are provided. A blacklist for determining routing attempts to be conducted during a default routing attempt procedure is maintained. A request comprising an identifier for a given destination for the request is received and, in response to performing a destination address lookup for the identifier, a set of one or more destination addresses for routing the request to is received. One or more destination addresses in the set are compared to the list of destinations on the blacklist. If the comparison indicates that at least one of the destination addresses in the set is not present on the blacklist, the request is processed according to a default routing attempt procedure. If the comparison indicates that all of the destination addresses in the set are present on the blacklist, the request is processed according to an alternative routing attempt procedure.

Abstract: A first network device including a physical layer (PHY) module and a medium access control (MAC) module. The MAC module, in a sub-1 GHz band, transmits the capabilities element to a second network device. The capabilities element includes: a multi-bit field indicating whether transmission of a packet with a traveling pilot is supported by the first network device; or a field indicating whether transmission of a spatial stream over a 1 MHz channel to the second network device is supported by the first network device. The MAC module, subsequent transmitting the capabilities element, forwards data to the PHY module. The PHY module: generates the packet to include the data, where the packet includes the traveling pilot if the capabilities element indicates transmission of the packet with the traveling pilot is supported; and according to the capabilities element, transmits the packet to the second network device via the spatial stream.
Abstract: Determination of channel state information (CSI) feedback by mobile devices is disclosed in which the mobile device receives one or more configuration parameters, that may include one or more control channel parameters for configuring a mobile device control channel. The UE uses the configuration parameters to determine an assumption of overhead resources. Using this overhead assumption, the mobile device derives the CSI index and transmits the CSI index to a serving base station.

Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a client terminal may first establish time and frequency synchronization with the network. While establishing the time and frequency synchronization, a client terminal may need to detect additional parameters about the network, such as physical cell identity, before it can initiate communication with the wireless communication system. Detecting the network parameters in presence of time and frequency offsets increases the complexity of the initial cell search procedure that includes time and frequency synchronization as well as detection of network parameters. A method and apparatus are disclosed that achieve frequency synchronization using frequency domain cross-correlation earlier in the cell search procedure, which in turn reduces the complexity and improves the performance of the latter stages of cell search procedure and the overall performance of the client terminal.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for quantizing channel state information (CSI). An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for providing codeword index information to a base station configured with Nt directional antennas, including: determining a first codeword in a first codebook whose rank is r, where r=1, 2, . . . , Nt, and sending an index of the codeword to the base station; and determining a second codeword in a second codebook whose rank is r, and sending an index of the codeword to the base station. The first codeword is a block diagonal matrix, and a matrix on a diagonal block of the block diagonal matrix is a matrix with Nt/2 rows and Nb columns. The Nb columns are Nb different Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) vectors arbitrarily selected from N predefined DFT vectors, N is an integer power of 2, 1?Nb?N, and the length of each DFT vector is Nt.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a network assisting switch function are disclosed. For example, the method receives a query for feature processing for a call from a switch deployed in a switched network, and determines if the feature processing for the call requires one or more switching services. The method determines if the switch is able to provide the one or more switching services, if the one or more switching services are determined to be required, and initiates a temporary connection to a network assisting switch function in a packet network, if the switch is unable to provide the one or more switching services.
Abstract: A score management node receives network measurements related to at least one service event when the service is delivered to the user, and determines, in a first scoring module, a quality score Q reflecting the user's perception of quality of the delivered service and an associated significance S reflecting the user's perception of importance of the delivered service, based on the received network measurements. The determined quality score Q and associated significance S of each service event are modified in a succession of intermediate scoring modules, based on a predefined influence factor applied in each intermediate scoring module. The perception score P is further calculated in a concluding scoring module, based on the modified quality score and associated modified significance, wherein the calculated perception score P is made available for use in the service evaluation.
Abstract: Systems and methods for a conferencing system. Responsive to a new conference request received at a conference orchestration service, participants of the conference and participant regions for each determined participant are determined. A mixer topology is generated that specifies an assignment of each determined participant to at least one input channel of a plurality of mixers. A mixer state manager generates the mixer topology based on the determined participant regions and at least one regional association of a mixer. Media of each determined participant is routed to the assigned at least one input channel according to the generated mixer topology by using the conference orchestration service. The mixer state manager generates the topology responsive to a request provided by the conference state manager. The conference orchestration service receives the generated mixer topology from the mixer state manager via the conference state manager.
Abstract: A conference call solution with one or more conference server, one or more conference bridge and one or more media mixer. A conference server is chosen as the conference bridge for the conference call using various optimization techniques. A media mixer for the conference call may also be chosen using various optimization techniques. The media mixer mixes media data from one or more conference bridge. If a conference bridge or the media mixer fails, the system recovers from the failure with minimal interruption to the users.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivery of packetized content (e.g., video, audio, data, etc.) over a content delivery network. In one embodiment, the content is packetized using an Internet Protocol (IP), and delivered by a service provider over both managed and unmanaged networks to subscribers of the provider, so as to provide delivery at any time, at any location, and via any designated user device. The delivered content may originate from the service provider, third-party content sources (e.g., networks or studios), the subscriber(s) themselves, or other sources including the Internet. Use of a common control and service functions within the network afford the ability to integrate or blend services together, thereby affording the service provider and subscriber new service and economic opportunities. Content delivery sessions may also be migrated from one device to another. A network-based user interface infrastructure, and gateway-based client-side architecture, are also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system, method and apparatus for automatically classifying voice communications, such as voice messages and phone calls in prerecorded voicemails (one speaker) and two-way conversations, as either spam or legitimate signals in a communications system (e.g., SIP, IMS, UMA, etc.). More specifically, the present invention classifies a voice communication session by receiving one or more voice communication packets associated with the voice communication session, extracting one or more properties from the received voice communication packets and classifying the voice communication session based on the extracted properties. The present invention can also be implemented as a computer program embodied on a computer readable medium wherein each step is performed by one or more code segments.

Abstract: Providing an announcement for a multiparty communication session involves establishing a communication session between at least two endpoints. A request to add an added endpoint to the communication session is received. A procedure to provide an announcement to the endpoints of the communication session is initiated. The announcement is played in response to determining a status of a media path of the added endpoint, and is provided from a rendering of a participant identifier associated with the added endpoint.
Abstract: A first call leg is established between a first communication device and a communication server having a telephony controller for controlling a hardware media processor. A second call leg is established between a second communication device and the communication server. The first and second call legs carry a media stream between the first and second communication devices, and the media stream is initially intended for processing by the hardware media processor. A suitable condition is needed to transfer the media stream to a release server. When the suitable condition is not detected, the media stream is processed with the hardware media processor. When the suitable condition is detected, the media stream is transferred to the release server. The release server lacks a hardware media processor.
