Abstract: An in-loop deblocking filter apparatus (120) for processing a current row or column of samples into a filtered row or column of samples. The current row or column of samples comprises a plurality of samples from a first sample block and a horizontally or vertically neighboring second sample block of a reconstructed picture of a video stream. The samples of the current row or column of samples have sample values pN?1?p0, q0?qN?1 wherein N is an even integer greater than 2. If a first condition or a second condition is satisfied, the current row or column is processed by: determining a filtered sample value q0? by applying a (2N?1)-tap filter to the sample values pN?2, . . . , p0, q0, . . . , qN?1 of the current row or column; and/or determining a filtered sample value p0? by applying a (2N?1)-tap filter to the sample values pN?1, . . . , p0, q0, . . . , qN?2 of the current row or column.

  • Patent number: 11190744
Abstract: An image processing device is described. The circuitry of the image processing device obtains an image that is generated on a basis of an incident light and a transfer function related to a conversion between the incident light and the image, and determines a cost function for prediction mode selection according to the transfer function. The cost function calculates a cost value based on a first parameter corresponding to a prediction residual code amount and a second parameter corresponding to a prediction mode code amount. The cost function is determined in a manner in favor of increasing the prediction residual code amount or decreasing the prediction mode code amount as a dynamic range of the transfer function increases. The circuitry determines a prediction mode for coding a coding unit of the image according to the determined cost function, and encodes the coding unit according to the determined prediction mode.

  • Patent number: 11190774
Abstract: Techniques are described for efficiently encoding video data by skipping evaluation of certain encoding modes based on various evaluation criteria. In some solutions, intra-block evaluation is performed in a specific order during encoding, and depending on encoding cost calculations of potential intra-block encoding modes, evaluation of some of the potential modes can be skipped. In some solutions, some encoding modes can be skipped depending on whether blocks are simple (e.g., simple vertical, simple horizontal, or both) or non-simple. In some solutions, various criteria are applied to determine whether chroma-from-luma mode evaluation can be skipped. The various solutions can be used independently and/or in combination.

  • Patent number: 11095877
Abstract: Innovations in motion estimation adapted for screen remoting scenarios are described. For example, a video encoder calculates a hash value for a current block in a current picture. The video encoder searches, subject to a spatial constraint, for a matching block in a reference picture (e.g., the previous picture in display order) based at least in part on the hash value for the current block. The spatial constraint defines a search area in the reference picture within which hash values for candidate blocks in the reference picture may be compared to the hash value for the current block. By using a spatial constraint to limit the range of the local hash-based motion estimation, the video encoder can speed up the motion estimation process while still considering the candidate blocks in the reference picture that are most likely to match the current block.
