Abstract: What is disclosed is a volume access system. The volume access system includes a processing system configured to process at least a portion of each of a plurality of virtual disk files to generate an aggregate file system view that represents the plurality of virtual disk files as a single hierarchical data volume comprising a plurality of items within the plurality of virtual disk files. The volume access system also includes a network interface operatively coupled with the processing system and configured to communicate the aggregate file system view for traversal by a plurality of clients.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for scoring and ranking environmental views of particular content. In an aspect, a method determines, for each presentation mode of a content item, a presentation mode score for the presentation mode based on presentation mode signals, each presentation mode score being an indicator of quality of the presentation mode; selecting the presentation mode having presentation mode score indicating a highest quality relative to the quality indicated to the other presentation modes by the other presentation mode scores; and providing the search results to a user device for presentation according to the presentation order, each search result referencing a corresponding content item, and wherein the search result for the content item having the plurality of presentation modes is provided according to the selected presentation mode.

Abstract: A method for dynamically generating and displaying a home screen on a display of a user device comprises receiving a user query input by a user of the device; receiving at least one environmental variable; determining an intent of a user based in part on the at least one environmental variable and the user query; selecting at least one resource of information from a plurality of resources of information respective of at least the intent, wherein each selected resource has a representative icon; generating a new home screen comprising an at least one icon corresponding to the at least one selected resource of information; and causing the user device to replace a current home screen with the new generated home screen.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a method and system for determining sets of variant items are described. Various embodiments may include a system configured to generate multiple item pairs each corresponding to a particular item and another item determined to be similar to the particular item. For the particular item and the other item, each item pair may include a respective sequence of text strings (e.g., a title). For each item pair, the system may perform a corresponding text alignment and determine one or more misalignments of the item pair. The system may also assign a similarity score to each item pair; the similarity score may be dependent on the misalignment(s) determined for the particular item pair. Based on each aligned item pair and the similarity score assigned to that aligned item pair, the system may generate an indication specifying that each of a set of items are variants of each other.

Abstract: XPath evaluation in an XML data repository includes parsing an input XPath query using a simple path file to generate an execution tree about the XPath query, where the simple path file includes an XML file that is generated based on the hierarchical architecture of a plurality of XML files in the data repository, and the names of the nodes in the generated XML file are generated by recording the tag information of respective nodes in the plurality of XML files in the data repository. Execution of an execution tree for the data repository generates a final evaluation result.

Abstract: Systems and methods for accepting relationship indications based on interaction among entities, where each relationship indication specifies that a respective pair of the entities may be related. A single entity record may be constructed that indicates all the linked entities that have been identified as being related to the entity. The entities may include an individual, a set of individuals, a communication terminal, a plurality of communication terminals, an organization, an e-mail address, a Web-site, a bank account and a home address. An analytics operation may performed, such as identifying a shortest sequence of interrelated entities that relate a first entity with a second entity, and acting upon the identified sequence.

Abstract: Systems for displaying social content in search results may include receiving an input query for a subject; determining that the input query is a navigational query; identifying a first page on a social network for the subject; obtaining content from the first page; obtaining search results corresponding to the input query; identifying a second page for the subject from among the search results, where the second page is represented in the search results by a snippet of content associated with the second page; combining the content from the first page with the snippet to thereby produce combined content; and outputting data corresponding to the combined content.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for sharing electronic file metadata in a networked computing environment (e.g., a cloud computing environment). In a typical embodiment, metadata related to electronic files stored in a shared storage device is maintained and updated. Such metadata may be viewable via a user interface of one or more applications used to access the files (e.g., from a plurality of computerized/electronic devices). Among other things, the metadata may identify previous accesses of the files (e.g., by user, date/time, etc.), and may be provided in a list or the like.

Abstract: An improved technique involves providing a pair of inode numbers in a directory entry for a file in a directory of a target file system. Along these lines, the target file system writes a first inode number and a second inode number to the directory entry for the file. While the client has not yet remounted its file system, that client may continue to use the file handle provided for the original file system. The data storage system continues to refer to a mapping table that cross-references initial inode numbers to target ones, at some cost in performance. Nevertheless, the client has an option to remount the file system at a time that is convenient to the client, so that the client may obtain a new handle. The client may subsequently use the new file handle to access the file.

Abstract: A system can include an upgrade system manager. The upgrade system manager can be configured to communicate with an upgrade database that employs a given schema. The system can also include a legacy system manager configured to communicate with a legacy database that employs a different schema, wherein the legacy database contains a subset of the data stored at the upgrade database. The legacy database can be configured to provide a forward migration trigger to the upgrade system manager in response to detecting an update to the legacy database. The upgrade system manager can further be configured to determine whether data received from an application configured to produce data for the upgrade database is to be provided to the legacy database.

A second stream operator may modify the processing of the tuple if the parameter falls outside a threshold.

Abstract: A transaction originator node identifies multiple data elements distributed at multiple enlisted nodes to lock for a transaction managed by the transaction originator node. The transaction originator node determines which of the enlisted nodes is a first enlisted node in a lock order for the transaction and sends an update request to the first enlisted node in the lock order to lock a data element residing at the first enlisted node. The transaction originator node sends update requests to remaining enlisted nodes in the lock order to cache the update requests until the remaining enlisted nodes receive a message to perform a lock.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure may provide a method, device and storage medium for clearing up a file system. A volume may be opened and locked according to a clearing-up instruction. The clearing-up instruction may indicate the volume which is to be cleared up. Garbage information on a disk corresponding to the volume may be cleared up. The volume may be unlocked after the garbage information is cleared up. The device may include a locking module, a clearing-up module and an unlocking module. With the example of the present disclosure, when the clearing-up instruction is received, the garbage information on the disk corresponding to the volume may be cleared up. Therefore, the privacy of the user remained in the file system may be thoroughly cleared up, the leakage of the privacy of the user may be avoided and the security of the file system may be enhanced.

Abstract: Methods, computer systems, and computer-storage media are provided for augmenting Web-based search results with relevant content received from third-party applications. Each of a plurality of third-party applications is registered to obtain an indication of entity types associated with the each registered third-party application. An annotated search query is received that includes the original inputted search query and at least an entity type associated with the search query. The annotated search query is communicated to those third-party applications having an indicated entity type that matches the entity type associated with the inputted search query. Search results that are relevant to the annotated search query are received from the applications and presented on a results page.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method and a system for the storage and processing of process values of a technical process or a technical installation in a historian server which can be integrated into a process control system of a technical installation or of a technical process. In such a method and system a dedicated signal cache can be associated with every process value for its raw values provided by the process. The raw values provided by the process are stored in the respective signal caches and additional internal signal-individual aggregate accumulators for the desired aggregates are associated with every raw value. The aggregate accumulators are incrementally modified for the defined interval when a new raw value is received.
