Abstract: The present invention discloses methods, systems, and tools for knowledge processing by building maps of ontological subjects for compositions or the contents accompanying a request for service by a user. In one embodiment of the invention the method assigns and calculates an ontological subject power spectrum to each composition or ontological subject. The resulting power spectrum and the adjacency matrix of the map are used to evaluate the merits of the compositions in the context of reference universes. It is also used as a research guiding tool for knowledge discovery. The invention serves knowledge seekers, knowledge creators, inventors, discoverer, as well as general public by assisting and guiding users to assess their work, identify their unknowns, optimize their research trajectory, and provide higher quality contents. The method and system, thereby, is instrumental in increasing the speed and efficiency of knowledge acquisition, discovery, retrieval, as well as faster learning and problem solving.
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and computer program product comprising optimal, systematic q-ary codes for correcting all asymmetric and symmetric errors of limited magnitude are provided.
Abstract: In some embodiments, techniques for determining a reputation associated with an electronic document may include determining an identity associated with the electronic document; determining an identity reputation associated with the identity, and determining a document reputation using the identity reputation.
Abstract: Current file systems may implement opportunistic locks on files that allow clients to locally cache file data, while promoting data consistency when multiple clients read/write the same file. Unfortunately, when a client locally caches directory content of a directory, the file system may lack a mechanism for notifying the client of changes to the directory that would render the cached directory content “stale”. Accordingly, one or more systems and/or techniques for managing a directory oplock are disclosed herein. A directory oplock may be generated based upon an oplock request comprising a first target key and a first parent key. Subsequent access requests for access to the directory or objects therein may be compared with the directory oplock to determine whether to break the directory oplock, and notify the client (e.g., directory oplock is broken if the client submitting the access request is different than the client owning the directory oplock).

Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for multiple web-based content category searching for web content on a mobile communication facility comprising capturing speech presented by a user using a resident capture facility on the mobile communication facility; transmitting at least a portion of the captured speech as data through a wireless communication facility to a speech recognition facility; generating speech-to-text results for the captured speech utilizing the speech recognition facility; and transmitting the text results and a plurality of formatting rules specifying how search text may be used to form a query for a search capability on the mobile communications facility, wherein each formatting rule is associated with a category of content to be searched.
Abstract: In some embodiments, techniques for modifying a profile may include associating a permissions level with a second user; responsive to detecting activity by the second user, increasing the permissions level; comparing the permissions level to a threshold; determining that the permissions level exceeds the threshold; responsive to determining that the permissions level exceeds the threshold, permitting the second user to modify a first profile data associated with profile associated with a first user; receiving a second profile data from the second user, wherein the second profile data is a result of a modification of the first profile data; associating the second profile data with the profile of the first user; and providing the profile of the first user to a third user, wherein the profile of the first user includes the second profile data.
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for using predetermined preferences/characteristics to ascertain personal compatibility between network or chat room participants based upon profile information. When the system determines that these preferences are favorable for interpersonal compatibility, the system will automatically notify or page the participants so as to facilitate their introduction. Further functionality, aside from the compatibility based upon profile information, includes e-mail and other electronic notification of personal compatibility as well as geographic compatibility.
Abstract: A improved tract-based lease data management systems is described that allow for rendering maps of database entities with reduced data entry. The invention includes methods for linking, unlinking, detecting invalidating changes, and rebuilding database entity geographical representations.
Abstract: Annotations relating to web sites may be based on blog posts relating to the web sites. A user viewing a web site may concurrently view related blog posts about the web site. More particularly, in one implementation, a method includes detecting when a user visits a web page and receiving, in response to the detection, a group of blog posts that link to the web page. The method further includes displaying an indication of the group of blog posts to the user while the user is visiting the web site.

Abstract: A computer identifies a relationship among a subset of a set of data blocks, a basis of the relationship forming a context shared by the subset of data blocks. The computer selects a code data structure from a set of code data structures using the context. The context is associated with the code data structure, and the code data structure includes a set of codes. The computer computes, for a first data block in the subset of data blocks, a first code corresponding to a content of the first data block. The computer determines whether the first code matches a stored code in the code data structure. The computer replaces, responsive to the first code matching the stored code, the first data block with a reference to an instance of the first data block. The computer causes the reference to be stored in a target data processing system.

Abstract: There are provided systems and methods to respond to a request for data. The system receives a request to search for the data based on a criterion and to populate data objects with the data. The request is further used to identify columns that determine data sources to query. The system performs a search of a logical table based on the criterion to identify a plurality of rows in the logical table. The system further generates a first plurality of tuples based on the plurality of rows to identify a first plurality of physical tables that are mapped to the logical table. The first plurality of tuples includes a first tuple and a second tuple. The system further queries the data sources for the data to generate results by using the first plurality of tuples. The queries of the data sources are partially successful.
Abstract: Some embodiments of on-the-fly pattern recognition with configurable bounds have been presented. In one embodiment, a pattern matching engine is configured based on user input, which may include values of one or more user configurable bounds on searching. Then the configured pattern matching engine is used to search for a set of features in an incoming string. A set of scores is updated based on the presence of any of the features in the string while searching for the features. Each score may indicate a likelihood of the content of the string being in a category. The search is terminated if the end of the string is reached or if the user configurable bounds are met. After terminating the search, the scores are output.

Abstract: A method and system for determining a service description that most closely matches a service name. A ranked service name list is generated by use of a name parser, a dictionary, and a name composer, wherein the ranked service name list comprises at least one alternative service name and a respective rank of each alternative service name of the at least one alternative service name, and wherein the respective rank indicates how closely the alternative service name associated with the respective rank resembles the service name provided by the user. It is ascertained that the service description matches the highest ranked alternative service name in the service name list. The service description matching the highest ranked alternative service name is communicated to the user.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for providing non-disruptive transitioning of application replication configurations and proactive analysis of possible error scenarios. Specifically, under embodiments of the present invention, a common integration model (CIM)-compatible representation of a system replication plan is provided in a computer data structure. Based on the representation, a hierarchical tree data structure having a set of nodes is created. A set of system configuration updates pertaining to the set of nodes are then classified (e.g., based upon the type of configuration update). Once the set of nodes has been classified, the set of nodes may then be analyzed to determine if any nodes of the set are isomorphic. If so, the plan can be modified accordingly. In any event, the replication plan (or modified replication plan) may then be implemented.

Abstract: A chunk index has information on chunks in a storage space referenced in objects in the storage space. The chunk index includes a reference count for each chunk indicating a number of objects in which the chunk is referenced and a reference measurement representing a level of data object references to the chunk. One chunk is selected to remove from the storage space based on a criteria applied to the reference measurements of chunks having reference counts indicating that the chunks are not referenced in one object in the storage space.
