Abstract: Systems and methods for validating live programming content based on data are provided. A system can access an initial schedule for a live broadcast event provided by a broadcast provider computing system, and identify an initial start time for the live broadcast event and a duration for the live broadcast event. The system can receive an update relating to the live broadcast event from a data source. The system can determine that the initial schedule is invalid based on the update, and set a flag for the live broadcast event indicating that the initial schedule has changed. The system can then modify a selection policy for content to display with the live broadcast event responsive to the flag.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing variable trick-play mode playback of media content in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. A playback device stores images of the media content associated with presentation times and marker information for the media content that indicates the presentation time of moments of interest. When a trick-play mode is invoked, the playback device determines a presentation time of a next marker in the playback. The playback device determines whether the current presentation time of the playback is within a specified range of the presentation time of the next marker and adjusts the speed of the trick-play playback based on the determination. The next frame to present is determined based on the adjusted speed of the trick-play playback and displayed.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a display includes a controller to set a relationship index indicating relationship between selected content, which is selected through an input of a user, of the at least one content, and remaining content of the at least one content, and arrange an output screen of the output device, based on the relationship index, such that content useful to a user as well as content desired by the user is determined and provided, thereby improving the convenience of the user.

Abstract: Proactively identify cable network impairments based on telemetry data from customer-premises equipment (CPE) devices is disclosed. In some embodiments, a maintenance service retrieves telemetry parameters from CPE devices at a customer site communicatively coupled to a cable network infrastructure. The maintenance service analyzes the telemetry parameters to detect cable network impairments experienced by the CPE devices at the customer site (based on, e.g., whether a telemetry parameter from any CPE devices fails a corresponding telemetry threshold, whether the same telemetry failure is experienced by all CPE devices at the customer site, whether other neighboring customer sites also experience the same failure on all CPE devices, and/or whether a high post main tap (HPMT) parameter and an HPMT magnitude (HPMTM) parameter for the customer site fail corresponding thresholds, according to some embodiments).

Abstract: Techniques are described for delivery and handling of automated user-responsive video sub-content. For example, a user is consuming video content associated with content-of-interest (COI) identifiers corresponding to certain sub-content relevant to the video content during certain playback time windows. During playback, embodiments use one or more sensors detect dynamic user input. At some time during playback of the video content, some of the COI identifiers are considered to be actively relevant, and detected dynamic user input is determined to invoke at least one of the actively relevant COI identifiers. A COI query can automatically be generated based on the invoked one or more COI identifiers, and a corresponding query response can be automatically generated and output to the user based on response data associated with the invoked one or more COI identifiers.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for rendering scrolling captions for media content includes a processor to receive a first request to display a first line of text associated with a media file. The processor may generate a framebuffer object (FBO) and a first texture per-line (TPL) for the first line of text. The processor may draw one or more glyphs on the first TPL, and render the first TPL in a first position of the FBO. The processor may receive a second request to display a second line of text. The processor may generate a second TPL for the second line of text, draw one or more glyphs on the second TPL, render the first TPL in a second position and the second TPL in the first position.

Abstract: A technique allows curating content such as videos to be specific to some event/theme. The technique allows creating an event in a calendar, and a backend system internally has an algorithm to pick the movies/TV shows based on viewing history.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for subjective evaluation. In some examples, processing circuitry receives scores graded by a subject to a media presentation. The scores by the subject includes a plurality of self comparison scores that are graded to self comparison tests in the media presentation. The processing circuitry applies a first rule and a second rule to the plurality of self comparison scores. The first rule requires a first subset of the plurality of self comparison scores in a first range. The second rule requires a second subset of the plurality of self comparison scores in a second range to limit at least an outlier to the first rule according to the second range. The processing circuitry determines that the scores by the subject are qualified for the subjective evaluation in response to the first rule and the second rule being satisfied.

Abstract: A playout system for providing playout of fragmented video content is provided. The system includes a non-transitory data store and a processor. The processor is configured to playout content for video origination using a fragmented format. The processor can receive a playlist and generate a plurality of video fragments from source content. A transcoder can process video fragments based on one or more program scheduling requirements from the playlist to generate new video fragments. A manifest is updated to reference the new video fragments. The process can output a video stream based on the new video fragments.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed for synchronizing streaming media content. An example apparatus includes a storage device, and a processor to execute instructions to identify a first source streaming broadcast media to a first computing device based on an audio fingerprint of audio associated with the broadcast media, identify sources broadcasting the broadcast media streaming to the first computing device, the sources available to a second computing device including the processor, select a second source of the identified sources for streaming the broadcast media to the second computing device, the second source different than the first source, detect termination of the streaming of the broadcast media on the first computing device, the termination corresponding to a termination time of the broadcast media, and automatically start, by using the selected second source, streaming of the broadcast media to the second computing device at the termination time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for mapping keys on a remote control device to digital content items are disclosed. An algorithm is trained, based on user's consumption pattern, to determine whether a digital content item would be relevant to the user. If the digital content item matches the consumption pattern, then a key is automatically mapped, and if it does not, then a notification that includes a mapping suggestion is generated and mapped upon approval. A mapping table is updated to store only valid mappings. An input of a key results in quick display of the mapped digital content item from where it was previously exited. A key can be mapped to a single or multiple digital content items. If similarities are detected between multiple digital content items, then they may both be mapped to the same key.

The systems and methods may involve receiving a first list of stream portions; determining a first set of high-priority stream portions; retrieving at least one portion of the first set of high-priority stream portions; storing the retrieved portion of the first set of high-priority stream portions; receiving a second list of stream portions; determining a second set of high-priority stream portions; determining whether any stream portions in the stored portion of the first set of high-priority stream portions are not in the second set of high-priority stream portions; deleting from the memory any stream portions in the stored portion of the first set of high-priority stream portions that are not in the second set of high-priority stream portions; and determining whether any stream portions in the second set of high-priority stream portions are not stored in memory.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to monitor media are disclosed. An example apparatus includes memory; computer readable instructions; and processor circuitry to execute the computer readable instructions to: generate a plurality of errors by comparing (a) a plurality of watermarks adjusted by offsets and (b) reference data, the adjusted watermarks corresponding to watermark data with inaccurate timing information for media; identify an offset of the offsets based on the plurality of errors; and adjust timing information of a watermark of the watermarks using the offset to increase an accuracy of the timing information.

The method including receiving, from a user terminal, a target image request signal, transmitting, to the user terminal, a target image in a first state or the target image in a second state, based on whether the target image request signal satisfies a specified standard, obtaining, from the user terminal, state information and image playing information of the target image for each specified time, and providing user-wise playing rate information of the target image, based on the state information and image playing information of the target image may be provided.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to measure exposure to streaming media are disclosed. An example apparatus includes communication interface circuitry to obtain metering data, the metering data including a first metadata tag extracted from media at a time corresponding to a media event associated with the media, the metering data omitting second metadata tags extracted from the media by a media monitor, the second metadata tags identified for omission based on a temporal proximity of the second metadata tags to the media event, the first and second metadata tags extracted from the media when the media is presented; memory; instructions included in the apparatus; and processor circuitry to execute the instructions to determine a first exposure of an audience to the media based on the metering data, the first exposure being the same as a second exposure determined based on an analysis of the first metadata tags.

Abstract: A system for generating high-resolution video from low-resolution images is configured to access a first video stream and a second video stream capturing an environment. The first video stream is captured by a first video capture device. The second video stream is captured by a second video capture device. Image frames of the first video stream are temporally synchronized with corresponding image frames of the second video stream. The system is also configured to generate a composite video stream with a higher resolution than the first or second video streams. Each composite image frame of the composite video stream is generated using a respective image frame of the first video stream and a temporally synchronized corresponding image frame of the second video stream as input.

Abstract: To perform evidentiary analysis on media files generated by a video surveillance system, a media file is analyzed to determine the format of the media file. Information about that format is used to decode media files from that video surveillance system into separate streams of media data. A computer system assists a person in defining logical parameters that can be used to parse and decode a media file of a particular type and outputs corresponding format data. The format data includes data that instructs a decoder how to decode media files of that type. A second computer system that provides analysis tools includes the decoder, which receives one or more media files of a particular type and corresponding format data for that type. The second computer system can access and process each of the separate streams individually for playback or other image or media processing.

Abstract: Embodiments detect updates to digital video broadcast (DVB) service information (SI), and forcing off-schedule updates to local meta-programming data (MPD) of a customer premises appliance in response to the update, where appropriate. For example, embodiments detect an SI update for at least one DVB content service being provided via a DVB network and determine whether a stream update descriptor in the SI is asserted. Detected assertion triggers an automatic off-schedule MPD update, including assigning a tuner to obtain updated provider MPD via an MPD service, and rebuilding local MPD based on the updated provider MPD. The local MPD is usable by the customer premises appliance to populate a meta-programming user interface (e.g., an electronic program guide) by which to display descriptive information about at least some of the plurality of DVB content services.
